Cap. Pushed out of gold plat basically one tricking moira/kiri. Pushed to diamond one tricking mainly kiri. Haven’t even touched the other heroes in comp
@Ane My opinion is that if they've managed to make it to the same rank as you by one-tricking then that's evidence enough that their strategy works. The game wouldn't have given them that rank if their skills weren't up to par and the more they work at that strategy the better they will get and the higher they will climb. I don't personally one-trick because I get bored quickly but I have mad respect for people that do. Also, forcing a one-trick to swap heroes because you don't like one-tricks is more likely to make your own match worse since they won't know how to play other heroes. Let them do what their good at and focus on your own job. If you need someone to counter then you swap.
@@AlizJaytay Same, i’ve made it to diamond on 3 accounts one tricking mercy, lucio, and moira. All in a pretty short amount of time. I think personal skill is more important than counter picking

These wacky heroes spiltting up in pairs and solos to flank and take multiple positions and converge on a single target. You really need a lot of coordination and coaching to play either as or against this kind of strategy
I love comps like this. Though it’s rare you get them with peoples’ perception of ‘meta’. It just makes it easier to play characters like mei/sym/brig/junker queen when you’ve got other people going in with you. It feels really aggressive and chaotic CQC :)
agreed. i think a lot of people forget that some iconic metas were just people playing the characters they liked and finding out that it happened to be broken (example: goats)
i specifically remember a tip video for sym that meta made (got #1 on eu servers one tricking sym) and he mentioned how her turrets can literally counter so many different abilities if you just spam them in front of you lol
@@reverently lol I’m not a good player I just spam my abilities and get kills. Too many low elo players hold onto abilities and it’s why they can’t climb
Yeah! I don't know what it is, but I feel I have the easiest time hitting headshots with Mei icicles. Large projectiles maybe? But also the delay makes it so I take the time I need aiming maybe
More content creators that try to teach you a thing or two about any game should use you as an example. Very informative, to the point, well-spoken and not too theatrical. I see so many other creators overcompensating, trying to make themselves the star of the show. I enjoy your humble approach, and hope you're able to keep this up! Thank you, KROW!
After watching Mightyy (EU top 500 junker queen one trick) streams and his youtube compilations, I can't help but feel that one-tricks might get a type of understanding of the game that's a bit above and beyond what regular players can achieve. I say this as someone that likes to play junker queen primarily but also have comfort swap picks in Orisa and Rein (and to a lesser extent Ram as of late). Playing into certain comps as Junker Queen is so difficult as I think she's the tank that's easiest to shut down via counter picks. A nightmare comp to go up against could be Orisa (or sometimes Ram) with Junkrat and good hitscan/Mei, with Ana and Kiriko on support. If someone is able to reach 500 as JQ when those characters are commonplace I think it's a testament to the deep understanding of what enemy characters potential and limits are. Or, like in the video where Sym blocks sleep dart like wow, it takes a one-trick to figure that one out and do it consistently. As a side note, Flats has commented on OWL players in his games where he has said that basically OWL players in need of an ego boost is on a wholly different level. Like they can just go in on Sojourn and dominate even a top 500 lobby. If this is the case, then yeah, I could see how a ragtag team of one-tricks is able to find their role in a team and cooperate in a way which the other team won't be able to, due to above mentioned understanding of the role of their character in any given team.
This is also a natural selection type thing. The knowledge required to be top level on off meta is exponentially higher so they are just going to be playing better overwatch
@@billyjoelbeans For ladder maybe? When I see pros play they seem to be on par with one-tricks a lot of the time. Though from what I can tell they do tend to specialize I guess to get a similar benefit from fully mastering 2-3 characters. But not all one-trick'd characters are created equal either, like maybe Kiriko or Soujorn since OW2 release. In Overwatch 1 I played almost exclusively Reinhardt and he was pretty much always a good and reliable on ladder. When I got to Diamond it felt I just got even more use out of him as people were able to play as a team and was aware of positioning in a completely different way to metal ranks
@@kimnielsen8183 Ah cool! Mightyy is fun to watch as he seems to have a very good mindset. If you haven't seen his youtube videos, he has great editing skills as well which makes it a treat. I think that "hard carries or gets hardcore shutdown" pretty much is my experience as well in lower ranks. I just wish to see her getting some armor up to 500 health total. Though my perception is that it won't take much to bring her to an overbuffed state either, so I guess Blizz is doing it right by being overly cautious with her buffs (+25 health up to 450 when she's a brawler lol, and 300 in non-role is a joke).
I genuinely believe that OTP's understand the game on another level. Because they're forced to go against their counter picks, they learn how to counter their counter picks on the hero that should be countered & it's crazy to think about tbh
