I love you bro. You made my life easier. 1million dollars 💸 💵 💲 🤑 💰 💱 💸 for your technique
Dixie paper plate 🤣😂🤣😂
@@muhammadnouman2701 you’ll take a year to pain a whole house working like that😅 he’s not painter.
*What is the color of the twist/texture carpet and what company did you purchase from?
*Also what's the color of the walls and what company? If you have product numbers, please send as well. Thanks!
Thanks for the video 👍
you might want to wipe off the paint you just got on the wall 😂
For real taped it and everything. Still got paint on the wall
seen it
You'd think he could have moved over 2 ft and do it again. Without the paint on the wall. I believe it's called "Take 2." 😆 🤣
Ya know, even with tape he still managed to get paint on the walls! Maybe he should get his eyes checked on the way to the paint store.
My ptsd caught that as well😂😂😂
As a painter for 27 years, this makes me want to break something
Me too.
Thank you! Me too! Unfortunately, people give these guys jobs.
Painting takes no skill . My 5 year old brother can paint . Relax boomer
Can you imagine the cost of tape alone on one ☝️ job???!
Real painters don't use tape.
Take an 18" or 24 " drywall knife , tuck it in under the baseboard , paint 18" or 24 " of baseboard , pull the knife out and move it on down the line repeating this process . Keep a wet rag handy in case you need to wipe the blade off occasionally. DO NOT waste time and good money on taping Works for tile too even if there is no gap
He makes these videos for homeowners, DIY people and novices who are just learning. In those situations tape is safer
A 36 inch painters shield works well, too.
Bad part is this 6 inches of trim in video is what the owners see in these videos when they research for what they're " paying for" and will hoover over you while doing the job and think your useless because one may free hand.
I like the bottom part. I refuse to put tape on walls because too many times it pulled the paint. I just use a good brush for the top of the trim.
Bro ain’t got froggy tapes 🤦♂️
Doesn’t matter what tape. Some paint isn’t prepped right by others and just slapped on walls. Ugggggg.
@@scottschreiber6008 remove the tape at an angle. If it’s still peeling paint up, you got some adhesion issues or crappy paint.
It’s crappy paint from the previous person doing the work. So frustrating working behind people.
Get low tac tape
Does frogtape come in 12 inch wide rolls?
i usually buy another house.
😂😂😂
Lmao 🤣 ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
A real painter is skilled with a brush and requires nothing but a brush and technique
Exactly!!
💯
That’s how I do it I don’t put tape on wall or floor
Rgr that just me and my Wooster 3' sash
Removing masking tape right after painting eliminates 'bleeding' It also prevents lifting of the old paint along the tape edge. He allowed the paint to dry on the lower tape so that paint on the tape does not leave a trace on the carpet.
Did you get paint on the wall?
No, that’s what happens when you put tape on walls. It peeks paint iff
And that's how a rookie does it 😂
Foreal
I liked the part where you used a paper plate to get your roller wet. Interesting!
I get a kick out of these guys!
Lmao
You gotta love all the professional painters chiming in 😂 not enough thinking prowess to realize these UA-cam videos are meant for homeowners to make the process easier.
How do you get paint all over the wall when you tape it off😂
U got paint on the drywall still
Thank you!
In the UK the skirting boards go directly on to the floor , there is no gap for carpet to squeeze underneath… 🙄
yeah and if the queen had balls she would be king
Sucks for you guys
Your house is built poorly. The skirting boards shouldn't touch the floor boards as we in the UK get alot of rain and damp in winter and from condensation, causing both to swell. Same as expansion gap on perimeter of wood flooring. Likely of the reasons you have creaky floors sorry to say
Well in the uk we dont spend stupid money on wooden houses that get destroyed every year by tornadoes! A couple of tins of paint every year or 2 or a couple of houses every few years 🤔
@@robthebuilder1327 if your getting dampness inside of the house it’s more than the wood swelling you need to worry about ! …. I’m from the Uk , been a joiner for over 25 years and never once had a problem with the skirting boards affecting the floor … If your joists are secured properly and providing minimal movement , followed with properly secured flooring then you don’t get a problem ! …. Where you do tend to get problems is with the older T and G flooring that was nailed .. When It’s been cut into so many times for the new heating pipes or re-wire repairs and it never goes back down the same because it’s all patchwork . The other style , chipboard flooring that is mass used today to be cost effective used to be frowned apon , but is all glued straight onto joists now and also fixed so no problems there … But of course that can also cause problems if cut into again for services ! …
You can get issues with gaps forming underneath the skirtings as the house settles in many years to come , but there is products such as mouse moulding , ( hence the name to stop the mice coming through any gap ) a corner bead which was commonly used to cover the gap under the skirting ..
There is exceptions , like when doing something like a new laminate floor , the older skirtings can be taken off and put on top of new laminate to create a better finish than using a beading . But when you then go to change your floor maybe back to a carpet in years to come , you are left again with a gap …
Do not wait for paint to dry, it is semi gloss and will rip off the paint on the wood.
razer knife
That's why he's using Frog tape - if you take off within a few hours it won't rip the paint off.
I discovered many years ago that the cardboard bottle dividers found in shipping boxes from the liquor store, cut into slats are sturdy and yet thin enough to get under the baseboards and I use them over and over through an entire house of baseboards whether carpet, woodfloor or tile. So easy and they're free.
Lucky you masked the wall. That was a close one.
Cardboard works well too
Thank you for the tip!
I used newspaper on bottom. No tape just tuck it under
The man i apprenticed and was for 3 yrs didn't let me go until i could paint a straight line by hand on any surface and replace the pump on my own sprayer. To this day being 20 yrs later i still paint , enjoy my job , never have i ran out of painting jobs.
My father was a painter,my dad would say that a real painter knows how to cut properly with only a brush ,called skills....
AWESOME.
Use Purdy 1/4” nap mini roller , green color fabric. Best one for trim, doors and cabinets as it has next to zero texture. I usually do a coat more then normal because it is thinner then 3/8th or 1/2” . Great results and you won’t have the extra nap pieces rolling over top the tape on the wall.
Don't Quit Your Dayjob !
I'm a painter by trade. I've been in the game for 30 odd years now, and there is nothing more that pisses me off, when I go to a client house and i can scratch the paint off the gloss work with my finger nail, depending on the size of the house the price can jump up another $800.. well, then I better give the video a thumbs up and tell him to keep up the good work 😂
At end that wall was stiff covered w trim paint after he took the frog tape off
Very nice old technique👍
Been using it since the 70s
never
You have a nice way of teaching
Thank you sir.
I have been avoiding this because of the carpet
Don’t think we
Didn’t see that paint you got on the wall 😂😂
THANK YOU! GOOD ADVICE!
Oooh, I like this. Very helpful, thank you 😊
Thanks for a great tip.
soso dope 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for the information
Vinyl tape works best for tucking carpet. You can run 9in brown paper from your masker on top of that. Done. Taping wall on top of your base is always optional but not exactly necessary. The pro is you don’t have to care and can paint fast and keep your wet edge a lot easier. Con is you spend extra time and material.
Though I agree taping off the carpet because there’s no painter in the world that can paint baseboards without getting paint on the carpet, I do recommend when taping the top edge of the baseboard is to run a very thin coat of white paint to form a better seal between the tape and baseboard without seapage on the wall. It works.
Thank you!!
Hey Bud !
Even with that wide Frog tape , you still got white paint on the wall !! 😂
Thank you. That was very helpful 🙂
Thank you for the great tip!
U can also lay out plastic drop cloth n tuck plastic under baseboard.. this way the entire area around is protected.. "cut in" on the top using a good brush..
Pretty good, works well.
If you run a fine bead of caulking along the top and wipe it almost completely away, you will eliminate all chances of bleeding. This works very well with textured walls.
And you for these tips. Very effective
Using a paper plate for a mini roller paint pan. Brilliant 🤣😂🤣😂
I bought some Frog Tape from Walmart less than a year ago and seriously it can't stick to anything other than itself
That’s the point
@@ogg14181 I'm not trying to be rude or disrespectful, so please don't read my message with that frame of mind. I'm not sure what I tried to paint when I bought it but seriously, it was horrible and didn't do the job I expected it to do. Then I opened my roll of Scotch Blue and it did the job without a problem in the world.
The frog tape came win a plastic container and that's honestly the only reason I bought it. It will keep all dirt and trash from sticking to the outside of the roll when not being used.
@@ogg14181 Also after looking at the video again, I didn't want it stick permanently. I just remember putting it on a wall or something as demonstrated in the video and there wasn't enough adhesive to keep it there for 5 minutes let alone 1 minute... It was like the boogy man removed it right after I put it in place. I can't understand things or any other way to explain it.
Great tip!! I was delaying painting the base board so I would get paint on the carpet. Thanks!!
Lol show this to these primo down here in Texas doing apartments and houses
Great job......agree
All you guys after get is a firm piece of cardboard at least 2 ft push it under the baseboard and use a small roller and run alongside the cardboard and that's it
In a perfect world
great job 🤠🤠👍👍
Great idea...
What a funny guy 😂😂
I use a 3' spray shield and just slide it down as I brush. Will save about a half hour of taping.
I use old vertical blind slats just push one under the length of the baseboard
Good advice
Cardboard works great too
so does a paint brush
in time you prepared I have finished. cut in base after everything else. cut you line if you can. and please caulk the top of base before
Lol. I have the same paper plates. I use them to paint and caulk with.😅
You can use a shield for painting or use some ram board and just roll it out!
Cool, thanks
I usually cut the carpet 3" away from the molding as it saves tape.
Frog tape will have you repainting the wall
Beautiful 😊
beautiful
I like the part where you got paint all over the wall and negated the entire purpose of the video.
The entire purpose of the video is how to paint over carpet. Nothing was mentioned about the wall
@@cody7149 yeah you’re right, he taped over the wall so that he could paint the wall. The purpose was to paint the baseboard and only the baseboard lol that’s not what happened 🤣🤣🤣
The yellow frog tape is low tack for delicate surfaces like paint 👍
Thank you.
Good job
You have a lot to learn pal.
Nice!👍 always was wondering how to paint skirting boards. 🤔 😊
Thanks ❤
Carpet shield works great
Pro painter here. This is a DIY video. A experienced painter only needs a good pair of knee pads and a brush.
Thank you! This is for DIYers for Pro results 👍🏽😊
The only time I ever taped carpet like that was when a homeowner was home staring over my shoulder, otherwise I freehand it.
This is great
I had plastic strips that you put against the baseboards when painting them. It was the same principal as with the painters tape but the were plastic strips.
Thanks 😊
It's actually called Frieze carpet if my customers really insisted on it, i sold it to them but i would try to talk them out of it. Most vacuum cleaners have star washers which tend to snag the nap and they are not individual thefore it will pull out a row.
I pulled the carpet end off the tack strip, painted the baseboard and replaced the carpet onto the strip when dried.
Good tips
Thank you
Just want to make sure I'm understanding, you recommend removing the upper strip of tape while the paint's wet, and the lower strip after it's dried a bit? Thanks!
Thanks 🙏
FIRED!!!
Hired!
Moron! Ive painted over 500 homes over the past 25 years, and trained dozens of people to become pros. Anyone not using paper, and just using tape over carpet is a COMPLETE ROOKIE! AND/OR SUPER LAZY! FIRED 100x! Non negotiable, you are a rookie, teaching rookies! @@FixThisHouse
Thanks
Genius
I saw some paint specs on the carpet 😮
But yeah thats enough UA-cam for the night. 😂😂😂😂
Hi enjoy n thank you for for ur videos
What kind of white paint ur using please
Thanks
Hi I enjoy alot ur videos
Plz tell me what white paint u used I like it
Thanks
Good luck God Bless
Lucky that your baseboards are so far above the carpet. I've done a lot of painting, and rarely do I see that much space.
mucho bueno cat temet thank you
Brilliant
frog tape sponsorship. we all need $10 rolls of tape.
I painted professionally for a number of years. All you need to paint base board is a quality paint brush and skill. No tape, no putty knife. If a professional spent this much time masking every off, he could spray paint it.
Faster and less mess to have a few runner tarps and do the same thing by tucking it under baseboard.
Thats how a homeowner does it
