Great video! I am a general contractor and someone asked me how to paint a bathroom. I knew if I searched UA-cam long enough I would find the right video.
Thank you! :)
fabulous 👏👏 A detailed video for beginner.Exactly DIY Video for me to start my first painting. Thank you so much for your sharing, Well done!
Thank you. I'm a painter but still appreciate people like you. Great job in your office❤
Thank you so much!
Here's a tip for the paint can. That valley in the can that the lid sits into. Poke some holes in it. Then the paint that gets in there after you pour will fall back into the can and the lid won't get stuck on from all that paint drying.
Yes, great tip!!
Another tip, is if you like using tape make a tongue on the end of the paint tin with the tape it gives better pour and keeps tin clean.
Thank you! I am about to paint a bedroom for the first time all on my own! ❤ Your video I helpful and I appreciate your help!

Great video! Liked and subscribed.
Your information is really helpful ❤👍
Thank you!
Another hack for a paint liner is the use aluminum foil. I like the trash bag idea too.
Yes, I have definitely used foil before too :)
You have great potential to grow on UA-cam, the way you teach and cover things that amateurs like me are looking for but not sure why you didn't make that much video here! go fo it, you are great however I just watched one of your videos! :)
Thank you so much!
your doing great teaching thank you please make a video about priming as well.
Thank you!
A good tip, instead of using tape to remove lint from a roller. Give it a wash and scrub with your finger nails, also leave the roller slightly damp. This will aid in making the roller absorb paint easier as opposed to using a dry roller.
Thank you so much!
Wasnt ready for the transformation...like u had all the paint stuff on then u jus got all pretty at the end... Bravo...
Oh yea nice video too, very helpful.
Thank you!
Damn it’s hard to focus on the tips when the instructor is just so beautiful 😍 if your single, which I doubt since you can have any pick of the litter, but I’d love to take you out. Just so I’m not just some internet stranger I’ll tell u about myself.
I am 6’3 nerd with kind of athletic/thin build, work in humanitarian aid because I’m a trust fund baby and since I don’t have to worry financially I decided to spend my time helping people less fortunate. I inherited a 11 bedroom, 8 bathroom home with a pool house that has another 2 bedroom/2bath that I sadly live in by myself at the moment (hopefully that changes lol).
So just reply back if interested. Take your time too, I’m sure you’re busy getting prepared for miss universe
Hi Ashley! Just ran into your channel looking to do an accent wall on my own. You are amazing!!! Do you do skim coating on walls? If so I would love to see a tutorial!
Hi there! I haven' had the need to skim coat any walls yet. My walls do have an orange peel texture but I leave it be and do all my accent walls on them as they are :)
@@mrsashleyfrench Good morning! Thank you so much for your reply. I am actually thinking of doing the same thing, but you make these accent walls look so easy! They are so beautiful and give the room so much character and class! Definitely seems easier than skim coating my whole house with mud! 🙂 I am going to be studying your tutorials. Only thing is that I am afraid of those miter saws. 😕
@@carmenmendez7896 I was afraid when I first started too. Watch my "How to use a Miter Saw" video and I recommend starting with a small miter saw to feel more comfortable. One with a 7.25" blade is a great smaller size for a beginner.
@@mrsashleyfrench Thank you so much for the advice and I am definitely going to watch your "How To" video! 🥰 I am so happy I found you!
Ok. Gorgeous color! What paint color is this? And what sheen? Also, your entryway white paint is crisp! Can you share the name of that paint too? Thanks!
The color is Mount Etna by Sherwin Williams and the entryway white color is just Pure White by Sherwin Williams.
Great video thank you! Looking to paint my bathroom...as it's only a small room, do you think I could do it all with the angled brush? Or would I still need a roller for a more even finish?
You could certainly do the whole thing with a paint brush. It will just take a bit longer than it would with a roller. But there is nothing wrong with painting the walls with the brush.
@mrsashleyfrench nice one...thanks! 🙂
Hi. When you clean walls before primer/paint,what do you use to clean the wall, is it dish soup and water? What is that long tool use use to clean the wall, where can I get it at? Thanks
I typically just use water only unless the wall is really dirty with visible grease or grime, then I'd add a little dish soap to the water. The tool I used was called a Turbo Mop, here is the link: amzlink.to/az0AhbIwW346i
Do you cut and then roll, cut again, and then roll? Or only need to cut once and then roll twice?
I cut in only once and make sure to do a thick coat on the cutting in that would be equivalent to if I had done two coats of cutting in. So I cut in just once, then I roll on two coats.
Frog tape or 3M? Which tape is your favorite?
I use both but Frog Tape is my preferred brand.
Which Sherwin Williams Emerald color is this?
This color is called Mount Etna
How long do you wait to dry usually between coats?
A lot of times the wall paint is already dry by the time I finish painting the last wall and then I just start on the second coat. Otherwise, I just give it an hour and then gently touch to see if it is dry to the touch.
How do you get the paint to roll on the wall, all i manage to get is a blob, took 3 hrs of hard work trying to do one wall, and i had to use a brush too, i was exhausted and coukdnt bear to do another coat. How on earth do you get the roller to cover the wall?
I'm not sure if I understand what is happening but It sounds like you have too much paint on your roller. Try putting less paint in your paint tray, then lightly roll your roller into the paint in the tray, then roll your roller in the paint tray on the slanted surface of the tray (where there is no paint) to get a lot of the excess paint off your roller. Then when you roll your roller on the wall, you shouldn't get any kind of blob or anything.
Hi, thanks for the reply, when I try gently rolling the roller over the paint it never really rolls. It's strange as many years ago I did all my decorating and used to love it, so I know I never had that issue before.
Not sure if you will cover this just starting the video but which do you do first the walls or the trim, I mean which do you paint first?
I recommend painting the walls first, then the baseboards/trim last. That way you are starting at the top and essentially working your way down the wall. Otherwise, if you paint your baseboards first, then paint your wall, you chance dripping some paint off your roller onto your freshly painted baseboards.
Thanks I have a kitchen to paint and I am not looking forward to it.
Ceiling and coving first, then walls then your door facings and skirting last. (skirting in uk is trim)
How many cans of paint did this room take?
I used a single 1-gallon paint can and did two coats on the walls and had just a little left in the can when I was done.
Not a very environmental way of painting using plastic liners, once covered in paint, they are not recyclable
Can you suggest some better alternatives? I am always open to a more environmentally friendly option.
