      Hi mate, thank you 😄 Exactly ! Either way I was always going for the skip option, it’s somewhere between £75-£100 for a skip, it’s about a 40 minute round trip to the dump from this location ! Definitely wouldn’t have been worth it for how much I would of had to charge 😂🌱

      @@RJLgardens oh really !? If you
      Drop it on private property it’s the price I said, but if it’s on the side of the road it’s an extra £60 I believe for a permit from
      The council 😳. I’ve started just getting customers to sort them as it’s easier and cheaper really.
      No I don’t pal 😩. I was really unsure of whether too, but after last autumn I think I will get one soon. Which one do you use dude ?🌱

      I use a Stihl BR600 and i wouldnt be without it mate, that would be the minimum power performance blower i would recommend getting, any smaller than that and its not worth the money especially for a pro. You def wont regret getting one.

    • @JayRockGroundsMaintenance
      @JayRockGroundsMaintenance  3 роки тому +1

      Bad example this one paul, no top soil was added per the customers directions, but it took ages to come through. Scarify seed and then top dress would be the best practice, the video below is a better example also check the video description for the results.

    Great job.
    Did this about 3 weeks ago. Applied a top dressing. Nearly killed me but the seed has germinated and is growing now. Can’t wait. I’ve been luck with the weather. It’s rained daily apart from to days where I’ve had to water.
    Lawn already took great and has completely lost that mossy sponginess.
    Can’t wait to see the follow up video!
    Did you apply any iron? If not would love to know your thoughts on that.

      @JayRockGroundsMaintenance  3 роки тому +1

      Hi there ! Sounds awesome 🙌🏽 you really have hit great weather ! And now all the temps have crept up we are in for a winner 🙌🏽.
      How long did it take you in the end 😄?
      On this one I never no, I normally do but on this one because there was so much I don’t think the IS would of affected any of the bottom layer of moss, although I have mentioned in around 8 weeks applying a feed with iron to take care of any that may be lingering 😄🌱

    • @myopenmind527
      @myopenmind527 3 роки тому

      @@JayRockGroundsMaintenance I have green shoots coming up where there was once thick moss. Keeping an eye on the weather but it’s raining again here today and 16.5C.
      I’ve fertilised as well and hope to treat any residual moss in September. It took me all day to scarify x 2 and clean up after (2/3rd acre but left 1/3 as is as it looks ok).
      Spread 50 bags of compost thinly over the seeds. Ordered a Landzie compost spreader but they are on back order so two of us had to spread the 50 bags by hand. Then rolled the lawn after to ensure seed to soil contact.
      I’ve learned an awful lot watching your videos and reading up what I can online.
      I really want to hollow tine aerate around September as it’s never been done an apply some more seed if necessary then.

    What do think has caused such a heavy moss infestation, Jay? I normally associate it with shade, but that looks a really open spot.

    • @JayRockGroundsMaintenance
      @JayRockGroundsMaintenance  3 роки тому +3

      In all honesty in this regard I’m unsure, could be something with the soil, or build up of thatch content resulting in moss. It was last scarified 2 years ago, but it does get the sun most of the time. I honestly would have believed that it had never been touched with a scarifier before, 2” thick in places. Although because of this I have suggested scarification yearly as well as a quarterly iron sulphate & seaweed treatment, but we shall see 😄

    • @SonOfFurzehatt
      @SonOfFurzehatt 2 роки тому +1

      The main culprit is poor drainage. I suspect the soil underneath is compacted, so water sits on the surface for longer. Some species of moss will happily grow in a lawn in full sun, but only if it's wet enough.
