- another dewalt nail gun, in for repair as it's not driving home the nails. sadly this one canny be fixed. as oil has been put inside the gun.
this is a big mistake as oil destroys these guns.

Had the same problem with mine soaked it in electrical contact cleaner work fine now
You must be annoyed at this , ive watched hundreds of your video's , because i do similar jobs at home , and its the first time I've heard you swear. Keep up the good work and honest reviews.
I had the same problem with my nail gun and I managed to fix it, it's very simple, the little lever that pushes down to slide the hammer, there is two little springs, I unclipped these and wrapped it around to make it tighter and clipped the spring back in and that's solved the problem
Sorry just watched this video and commented on one of your new vids so just adding this if it helps someone. The dewalt nail guns the friction ones I had one that wouldn't drive the nails and spent 3 days trying to get it to work. If you get one that wont drive them properly I found if you sand a 100grit crosshatch pattern on the flywheel it restored the driver power and a light sand on the pinch roller. It drove 90mm-65mm nails again. Could you try it out if you get a trouble some dewalt. Cheers
That seems logical to me! I mean how can oil completely kill something? Oil can be cleaned off and friction can be re-created, so I like your approach- before throwing a gun away!
I've just had the same problem with mine. Noticed my springs were shattered in several places so its lost its tension
Most times you have to replace the profile,if that don't work, replace the motor, new motor seems to run a bit faster and drives the nail deeper
Heck of an invention; a tool that breaks when you oil it.
Every friction based tool breaks when you add oil to it. Basic physics.
I've seen this before, replacing the firing pin (yours looks worn) and the springs did the trick.
That's a coat hanger machine - fokkin ideal!
Id try cleaning the complete internals with brake and clutch cleaner, it'll clean off oil and carbon etc so maybe it'll do the job.
Worth a try, nothing to lose, better than just leaving it.
I have done just that. Plus socked it in petrol. Tried with several guns. No use, they always come back in with the same fault.
@@deandohertygreaser as a last resort have you tried burning the flywheel and roller off with a blow torch? Just a thought, I did this to get some oil off my driveway, nothing else would budge it but it burnt it off.
@deandohertygreaser ya have to agree DIY lads spray oil on everything not the answer 👍
Had to tell a fella the same bad news today. Goes down like a cup of cold sick.
