Flo and Eddie were a blast to work with Lee. I did the 77 tour on drums and it was a dream come true for me as I was a huge Zazza / Dunbar fan!

They used to do shows around New Years in NYC. Saw them twice. They're brilliant. Can make a living as musicians, songwriters or comedians. Elenore was as good as Happy Together. I especially love the spoofs they did of artists. Michael Jackson, Springsteen, etc.

Flo and Eddie were huge in Canada. Around the mid to late Seventies they were the house band for a CBC show hosted by Peter Gzowski called "90 Minutes Live". They were hilarious but I especially loved the interviews they did with other Artists. It was a unique format because Gzowski knew it was better to let the Artists interview their own peers. I miss that kind of television.

When I lived in LA (1000yrs ago) there were 2 songwriters organisations, The Songwriters Guild and LASS (LA Songwriters Showcase). LASS had monthly gatherings where a publisher, pro writer or artist would be the guest, be interviewed, and judge ‘cassette roulette’ to which we would all submit our demos. Most of the demos would be stopped before the second verse started and critiqued by the guest. One night the guests were Flo & Eddie. I’d just co-written a song and our demo was on the big wheel. They got past the 1st chorus and let it play. They were up on their feet and singing harmonies by the last chorus! Never saw that before! Still love the Turtles. Groovy track!

"The Phlorescent Leech and Eddie" (later shortened to "Flo & Eddie") What a great team of vocalists! From their days at Fairfax HS to all their history! Their album "The Battle of the Bands" with the Turtles is a lost gem! And they are the nicest guys!

Memories of the strip scene: Saw Blue Cheer at the Whiskey. The band I was in (don't even know what name we had then) played at the Galaxy, which was two doors down from the Whiskey. The Cheetah. You are the only person I have ever come across who mentioned the Cheetah or was ever there. Saw Mike Bloomfield and The Electric Flag there. Sly and the Family Stone were also on that bill. GREAT place to dance. Thanks for the memories. Best wishes.

You, Howard, Mark, Danny, Ansley, and Ian. WOW! A friend of mine turned me on to this Flo & Eddie album when it came out, the musicianship on it was astounding. I remember looking at the liner notes, and saying that makes sense. I was already a huge fan of you and Ansley. (I'm a drummer/bassist.) I loooove this track! The way you and Ansley swing on this blew me away then and still does.

That's great, full of musical puns and references. I thought it was veering off into "California Girls" for a second, but only for a second. And it seemed like you guys were appropriately channeling the Wrecking Crew cats (or at least the era) for the track. Love that, and love the great Turtles sabotage caper, showing all the skill and devious dedication needed to pull it off! And (blathering on...) since I know we share a soft spot for birthdays, I hope you don't mind if I note I've been marking what would have been my mum's 96th today. It's been a tough year, missing her, alone. But there's a chocolate cake on the table because, as you know, that's the law! We were lucky.

If you were to take a poll as to who would be included in the all time "super group" you would get hundreds of different suggestions for guitar players and singers, dozens of suggestions for drummers and keyboard players and Lee Sklar on bass.

Loved these guys! I saw them when they opened for Alice Cooper's "Billion Dollar Babies" tour in Detroit. Ended up[ drinking Heineken's with Howie at a Meet & Greet after the show. Great guys!

Happy to hear you've worked with the Kinkster and enjoyed the experience. 10 years ago in Houston Ted Swindley, who wrote Always, Patsy Cline premiered his newest work Becoming Kinky: The World According to Kinky Friedman. I was honored to portray Kinky in his post-Texas Jewboys years. It was a rich experience, even if it didn't "pay off" like Patsy did for Mandy Barnett. Would love to hear your memories of Kinky and also Little Jewford if he was sidekickin' on piano.
