best video yet. best format. You give a fighter breakdown, padwork with combo's an alternet spin on the tricks and a live sparring demo. Hands down best mma tactics/skills instructional on youtube. Modern martial artist is probably second.
I really like Jeff's format on this too. He's one of the few youtubers who doesn't just break something down, he can demonstrate and expand on its application in real sparring. I find many people will have problems accomplishing this mainly due to the fact they're lacking the experience or fundamentals to execute the concepts. I personally think Jeffs channel would explode even more if he were to get into the breakdowns of mainstream fighters. There seems to be a big audience for content like that. Modern Martial artist has great presentation but objectively speaking, you can tell from his martial arts background that his technique isn't fully flushed out compared to someone like Jeff. modern martial artist sometimes is missing basic fundamentals from boxing/kickboxing but he gives a solid effort trying to demonstrate certain technique despite it being a struggle at times. He's done a great job building his channel appealing to auidiences looking to know about mainstream fighters. I don't believe he's got the knowledge Jeff has though considering Jeff has more experience training in multiple disciplines and his technique is always on point. I feel someone like Jeff can fully flush out important details that others might miss in breakdowns. He has a lot of potential.

Thanks for all the content!

A year late, but USADA did state that the EPO was fresh in his system. He likely used it so as to be able to weight cut while maintaining his physique. Fat lot of good that did him. Still, it does mean his fights before that were legit, which I like. Ironic. He cheats once, and karma gets him.
@@ogkush6800 Of course, but epo affects your red blood cells, something that helps with oxygen. People who do drastic weight cuts often suffer from a lack of it, like Paulo Costa. Seeing as TJ already got super lean to make 135, he had to do some crazy shit to get 125, and it must've taxed him, hence the use of EPO. Mind you, I don't condone it at all. I just explain why he most likely used it. A performance enhancer to allow him to perform the same despite the drastic weight loss.
Awesome video! I train at Ludwigs and I recognize all these tricks and combos tj uses because we drill these often. You explained and told why to use the 1 2 after the low kick( because people expect a low kick to be the last part of a combo), the cross kick, and the jab kick (because it sets up the kick after the opponent parries or slips the punch) all great man!
Combo 7 I use in sparring a lot. Well I USED to use in sparring. 🤦🏽♂️ But I would throw the cross to the solar-plexus to get their hands down and then the rear kick to the head. Your videos are really the best MMA training videos out. I appreciate the free tips. Keep ‘em comin. 🙏🏽
The last tactic with the shuffle on the jab, i have adapted that with a rhythm break so that after throwing it full extension to set the rhythm i then shuffle on one of the "setting" jabs then explode at a faster pace into a combination. Usually, the "setting" jab is just bull crap and i don't try to land it, just a full extension feint. good video man!
Bro, you're one of the greatest source of MMA techniques on youtube, there's no doubting that. However, one thing that I noticed is your way of speaking have changed, you stutter more and what you're saying is a bit unclear on your mid -> late 2017 vids up to this point, compared to your own vids last 2016. It might be a sign of too much concussion, which could be a result of brain damage. Maybe lay off the sparring a bit, can we? Even some great coaches out there don't recommend frequent sparring. Again, I'm a big fan, you do what you think is right, I'm just worried.
Hey man, I appreciate the comment. You may be on to something.. I have noticed I have am a lot slower then in the past. In fact, I went to get an MRI done for my brain recently but nothing unusual was found. I am going to take care of my brain more, thank you for looking out brother!
Seems I’m late to the party. I think it’s not the frequency of sparring but how he spars. I believe you can spar everyday but it has to be light. When Jeff spars he sometimes throws a bit hard and as a result his partner does the same, this results in both parties hitting hard enough to where the head whips back. If punches are pulled more, his sparring would be fine. (Of course, it’s different if you’re doing an occasional hard sparring day.)
great video again i really enjoy the simplicity of how you teach,,no unessacary bull,,,,mr c is a combative scientist but say hi to the guy in the video with you i do enjoy it when hes with you,,,no matter the hits he comes back for more,,,,bless him,,thanks mr c,

I like something similar to the duck head walk forward left head kick. I like to fake a shot and go really low so it looks super believable and come with the right high kick. It takes a bit of balance to get right but it’s awesome when it works. This video has given me tons of ideas! Thanks for the great work as always Jeff.

Great video and breakdown as always Jeff. What I really took away from this video was the importance of being able to fight out of both stances: orthodox and southpaw. It seems at the highest level professionals are able to fire off combinations and then shift stances midway through. Very interesting to see in slow motion.
Such a great tutorial. I think if you can master these combo's you're going to be able to make a lasting impression on whoever forces you to defend yourself.

Hi Jeff. What's the difference between a Drop shift Jab and a Superman punch Jab? What are you trying to attain by drop shifting jab? You already explain the superman jab is used for feinting a low kick. What about a drop shift jab?
The superman jab, your lead leg (left leg) kicks back but then drops forward back into orthodox stance. The drop shift, your lead leg (left leg) lifts up but drops back and your rear leg (right leg) steps forward. So you are switching from orthodox to southpaw as you throw the the jab.
My only problem is in the first technique do you have any advice on firing that low kick faster my original thought was if I could keep pressure and throw it while they move backwards it will work to set up the punches but most of the time when I throw the kick I’m caught with a cross should I step out when I go to throw the kick or something , any advice by anyone would be highly appreciated
