One more good video, Alex! I like the parallel that you did about the very end in the matches between analog and digital clocks. About notation, I understand your point, but I really like to note my matches, even the rapid ones (20min each) because I use them to study my mistakes. One doubt: are there still many tournaments in USA using analog clocks?
Thanks a lot for commenting! Some of the less formal tournaments allow people to bring their own chess sets and clocks so I have seen many different analog styles. I think if someone could take notation for me during games that would be better!
I’m like you. I hate clocks and notation; however it was a necessary evil if you wanted to participate in a live USCF rated tournament two decades ago! I still have my USCF wind-up analogue chess clock. Boring by today’s standards but it didn’t need batteries. I recently purchased a DGT 3000 LE but I haven’t even put the batteries in yet. Coming back after a very long break and I’m not as sharp as I used to be and chess players are better than ever and younger than ever! I’ve got my work cut out for me and I need to get a whole lot better (no Byrds reference intended) before I start putting time pressure on my games again! I will be looking forward for your take on the DGT Electronic Chess Board. I have mixed feelings on that one and I know you will give your honest opinion! That’s what I appreciate the most about your channel!
Thanks a lot! I fully understand where you are coming from. Timed games always seemed too short for me! I wish you the best of luck in getting better at chess again! Thank you for watching!
My favorite are the newer chronos with an actual push button, or the dgt offerings. I had this, and the very first digital clocks, but have many more old analog clocks which imo are terrible for blitz…
I have an Excalibur gametimer II, but I can't seem to be able to get the ACCUM feature to give me the 30-second increment. Perhaps there were two versions of the gametimer II released?
Mine is older than yours because it has a hinge for the battery door instead of a screw. Before the 80s no one liked to play with clocks, so either I play without the clock or people won't play. The clocks now are all quiet when pressing the buttons so this Excalibur is noisy. I don't mind the noise though. I had a DGT digital that went bad. The display won't stay on probably because I never used it. I got an Insa(excellent) and BMB analog clocks. I just bought a new DGT 3000. The Excalibur has better quality because the new DGT feels cheap. Thanks for the video.
I like your opinion on notation. It's distracting and time comsuming. Tournaments should allow GoPro cameras or cell phone recording instead of notation requirements.
It's a shame these are no longer produced! Nice video.
Looks like a good clock. Found it new on ebay for $55, but there are various used ones for sale as well at around $30.
It's a great solid clock!

i got this chess clock but the first version at the swap meet for free it works great its fun
Yeah it's a really made chess clock in my opinion, I like how sturdy the buttons are on it. I've also seen how much abuse this clock can take!

I still love to use my Excalibur Game Time II. I have others but I like it. Except that it’s loud.

Where i can buy this dgt clock
Hi. Have you ever come across some bugs or glitches on these clocks?
Any idea where to buy online this chess clock?

Looks like eBay has them fairly priced. Might look into one of these thanks!
Yes I saw them on UA-cam also, not too pricey.
Hey, that looks awfully like the clock I had not that long ago 😉
Absolutely!
