    This is the best sewing tutorial I have seen for any fabric/project. I appreciate you taking your time with the instructions and giving visual tips vs rushing through or talking too fast (or that terrible thing most people do when they speed up the playback, causing viewers to rewind and replay multiple times to see the process accurately). Additionally, while you were thorough with the instructions, you didn't drag out the tutorial with unnecessary commentary. This is pure teaching! I have not sewn with faux fur and would not have thought about directionality. I am now confident I can sew a beautiful piece. Thank you!

    Thanks for another wonderful video! My granddaughter wanted a faux deer hide blanket for her daughter (my great granddaughter! 😊) so I ordered the fabric from Shannon, and it is gorgeous! I wasn't really sure about stitching this up, I'm so glad I held off, your video answered my questions. Now, however she thinks she wants minky on one side and fur on the other. I know minky also has a nap, so would I basically stitch the blanket the same way as if it was fur on both sides? Any other helpful tips?

    You just answered all but one of my questions about sewing with furry fabric. That question is this : I've researched a little and seen how some people say you need a special machine to sew furry and/or fuzzy fabric with. Is that so ? Or can it be sewn with a regular sewing machine ? If you do need a special machine, what is it called ? Or is it just that you need a certain foot such as the walker foot you mentioned in your video here ? I appreciate your help and advice on this. 😍❣😻

    Would you be willing to make another one, but more quilt/comforter like? I’m trying to learn how to make two for my bed.. but am not sure what to use for the filler in the middle. To make it more cozy. Or how to get it to where the filler stays? And doesn’t bunch up in the wash? I’m picky. And can’t find any bedding I like. So I’m stuck making my own lol. And could you fill me in on what kind of sewing machine you recommend? I haven’t bought one yet. I want to make sure I even know what I’m doing first before spending all that money. And I’m trying to figure out which sewing machine I should go with. The brother se400 computerized sewing and embroidery machine has crossed my mind. But can a wandering foot even fit one of those? I’m not sure how sewing machines work 100% yet? I have so many questions lol, I’m sorry☺️lol

      If you use heavy faux fur You could just put on hem all the way around and let it sit on top. AS for a machine, please go test drive a few different ones and buy the best that you can. I find going to a sewing machine repair shop is very helpful, as He will often have machine for sale

    Couple questions: I'm using a black Luxe cuddle; what's the best way to mark it? Chalk pencils drag too much, and I end up with wiggly lines.
    Also: I'd really appreciate any advice you can give me regarding backing a Luxe cuddle blanket with flannel-back satin. I know you're supposed to stitch with the woven fabric on top; how does that work on the second long side, when you're trying to still stitch with the grain of the fur, but all the fabric is clumped up in the harp of the machine, to the right of the needle?

    • @SewVeryEasy
      @SewVeryEasy  3 роки тому +1

      try marking the back with a Child's washable marker. I will hand base my seams. Also, try a walking foot with the woven on the bottom. you can try to cover the troubled fabric with a thin strip of interfacing to stabilize it. one more thing is to use bigger stitches

    • @carols2801
      @carols2801 3 роки тому

      @@SewVeryEasy Thank you so much for the advice! I am going to try using a silver Sharpie, and if I can find a light-colored washable marker, I'll try that too - and see what works best!
      I'm already using a walking foot, and 2 rows of pins (1 on each side of, and running parallel to, the seam line.) And I have lengthened the stitches, and lowered the pressure on the presser foot as well.
      Stabilizer sounds like a great idea! I have some real thin newsprint from a child's drawing pad.... If that works, I'll let you know!

      Margreet, Have you tried a walking foot, stretch needle size 90/14, longer stitch length and lighter tension?

    • @SewVeryEasy
      @SewVeryEasy  7 років тому

      a walking foot and a stretch needle really does help, but also be sure to have at least a 1/2" seam, and try not to push or pull the fabric, let the machine do all the work. It might feel like we need to help the machine because it looks think, but it is not as thick as it looks and the machine can do it. Hope this helps:)

      Melody LeBeau There is nothing “vegan” about fake fur. Petrochemicals are the building blocks of synthetic fabrics...extracted in the form of crude oil. I very much doubt that the thousands of animals killed and numerous ecosystems that were lost forever due to oil spills allows fake fur to ever be considered “vegan” or sustainable. Just saying ☝🏼
