Good thing they fixed the location of screw mount, in the original ZV-1 you couldn't swap batteries or access the memory card with it screwed in and you'd have to buy a cage for it. USB-C is also a huge upgrade, as with the original ZV-1 using Micro USB meant it was hard to keep the thing powered while shooting/webcam. ZV-1 is still a great little camera if you find it pretty cheap, but there's definitely just quality of life upgrades on the ZV-1 II that makes it worth considering. Those little X-type batteries do suck though, you get like 25-30 minutes maybe off one in 4k/30.
Beware: Sony rarely (if ever) provides firmware updates. My original ZV-1 (less than 3 years old) is stuck in some kind of boot loop and they offered no support other than send it off and pay for a repair.
Isn't it possible to just reflash the existing firmware to fix the bootloop? Also, bootloops can happen for hardware reasons as well, maybe that's why Sony's only solution was to send the camera for repair.
No you can't just reflash. I have a zv1 that won't save the settings and will after turning off always turn back on. Reset doesn't work either and it refuses to let me reflash the newest firmware.
Bootloops aren't always something that can be fixed through software They can be caused physically so the only way to fix it would be through repairing the camera
I'm using a ZV-1 for all of our product photos and most of our video production. Works really great for such a small device. Only thing is the battery is very small, and it seems the MKII does not fix that issue.
5:27 I feel like the optical stabilization was overlooked in the original ZV-1 compared to the Mk IIs elecontic only stabilization. If you're handholding the camera then you would go from 18 to 24mm on the Mk II with stabilization or you can use the original with optical stabilization at 24mm. Even if the optical stabilization isn't quite as steady it wouldn't have the same complaints that were pointed out at 11:40
Removing the OIS is a huge downgrade, especially since the Mk1 had EIS+OIS.. and especially in non ideal lighting the EIS quickly becomes useless... or at fixed shutter speeds of 1/60th and 1/30th...
That Packaging is what i wish all packaging was like. It does what it should and doesn't waste money or resources on looking good to improve 10 seconds of unboxing experience.
I would like to see retail-boxes like this. No useless printings and pictures. It lands in the trash anyway, so why bother using ink and stuff. Cut costs and use of materials...
Love when a known youtuber goes over details on a camera , perfectly and properly than just blasting videos all over the place , I love the review , might want a recommendation for a camera under 800$ like this so I can use it for livestreaming and vlogging
Why ZV-1 Mark II 20 megapixels is more expensive than ZV-E10 have 24 megapixels? And for the photos results, which one will be more good? Please answer 🙏🏼 thanks
$900 is insane. For that price you can get some of the best, couple years old, used cameras from a third-party. Something like an incredible Fuji film or Sony Alpha at that point.
I have a ZV-E10, and used to also own a ZV-1 (original). The E10 is without a doubt the better camera. Only major downside in my mind is that it uses MicroUSB. If I remember right, I sold my year old ZV-1 for more money than I paid for it - they were much cheaper on launch. ZV-E10 plus the 18-105 f4 and 10-18 f4 are a great combo for all your video needs.
12:48 nope. Can’t do 960fps. Capped at 120fps 🥺 disappointing. TLDR take techtuber’s reviews with a big bag of salt regardless of how many subscribers they have. Though the HFR isn’t specified in sony’s spec website as well, other reputable review websites (like rtings) point that HFR is possible with the mark 2. To be fair, other techtubers and website/s (like dpreview) ARE saying that HFR(960fps) feature is removed in the mark 2. So kudos to them. TAKE AWAY: 1. if buying online: if the description field of the product you’re planning fits your need, buy it. If it didn’t perform or wasn’t able to deliver the described spec, you could easily return it (hoping that this option of return is an option in the platform you’re using). 2. Use the specification listed in the product’s website as base reference and don’t take techtubers and online review websites too seriously.
Ya, it will take a bit to get used to this, viewers get used to stuff and a large change like this will take a bit of time to get used to. Dont let our comments get you down David ... you're doing and will be fine ... just be gentle with us for a while. The camera? For someone with a full Canon DSLR bag, its neat to see how these little guys perform and where the tech is with new releases at this form factor. That said ... waaaay too much $. Not worth $900 with just the one lens. Hard Pass.

@@Shelly_Pc Perhaps vlogging and listen for if the wind's too strong? Bluetooth tethering for live streams? There's many options for bluetooth connection alone.
Overpriced camera. Keep in mind that all of the sony cameras based on the RX100 style designs are not bag or pocket friendly. Sure you can fit them in a pocket, but the lens is not weather sealed, this also means when the lens extends, it sucks in rust around the camera. All of those cameras that have been stored in a non-camera specific bag, or worse, placed in a pocket, ends up with lots of dust on the inner lens elements, and they ruin image quality in bright conditions as those dust and pocket lint particles catch light from speculars and reduce image quality. Even if taken care of well, and cleaned each time before turning it on and extending the lens, you will still end up with some dust buildup over time. This is why such designs are more fitting for cheaper sub $150 point and shoot cameras. Beyond that, for only a slightly larger size, it may be worth going for a used Fujifilm x-t4 which will more features, and far better image quality, as well as far better low light performance (roughly 2.5 stops better), and then adding a wide angle prime for vloging. While you mat spend around $200 more overall, you will get far better image quality.
This is how they make it at an affordable price. Camera costs £900 🤣😂 No way is this camera worth that. Better cameras for this price. No touch screen can replace or even come close to having physical dials that can be used while holding the camera to your eye.
Doesn’t that camera have horrible rolling shutter though. I know it’s a really good camera for taking pictures…. But for video recording it is constantly a struggle

ZV-E10 is better because of the larger sensor and you can change lenses, but it’s a lot bigger
