ABOUT MARION
Marion Grasby is a food producer, television presenter and cookbook author who's had a life-long love affair with Asian food.
Marion is a little bit Thai (courtesy of her mum) and a little bit Australian (courtesy of her dad).
Marion lives in Bangkok, Thailand and travels throughout Asia to find the most unique and delicious Asian food recipes, dishes and ingredients.
I'm Thai and I think Westerners would find it strange that in Thailand this salad is the main course and the fried chicken and other meat items are the side dish. Here we don't go to a fried chicken shop that serves salads on the side, we go to salad shops that serve chicken on the side. This salad makes or break an Isan (Northeastern Thailand, where this dish comes from) restaurant. If your papaya salad sucks, nobody will eat there. But if your salad is good but the chicken is bad, no one cares.
My mouth is watering I need some now!! I love som tam load with the shrimp paste too!!
Gurl you ve got the asian Spirit within you yaaaaasssss 👍🏼😊

Recipientes with us ☺️
My go-to Papaya Salad recipe! Tastes even better than some of the Thai joints I go to. I love the combination of the crispy chicken and cold fresh salad.
All you need is some sticky purple rice and pepper dipping sauce to go with that papaya salad and fried chicken!
While holidaying in Krabi Island, had smoked salmon with papaya salad in the restaurant of the hotel I was staying in. It was heavenly. Loved all food I had in Thailand but this dish was the winner. It was yummm. Thanks Marion for the recipe.
I feel like making it with green unripe mangoes. The texture seems close with papaya, but I wonder if it'll be too sour
This will work too. I like to mix green mango with cucumber.
The best...with sticky rice! 😋
My favourite cooking channel ❤️
Amazing! I’m a transplanted Native New Yorker living in the Caribbean and it’s so hard to find my way in the kitchen...but you inspire me to try, so thank you! I’ve already tried your Chinese pork recipe!

I'm allergic to peanuts can I leave them out
Followed directions the skin had a hard time getting crisp and cooking time was 45 mins
Hello!!! Any substitute for coriander (cilantro).? I really can't eat those. 😞
You could just leave it out for this one. So the marinade will have more of a garlic and pepper flavour :-)
Thank you!!! I will try this for sure! With the Papaya salad as well. 😊 yum!!!
O man that needs some sticky rice!
Whoever came up with the combo was Lao! This is a Lao staple and the Thai need to give credit and stop claiming our food!
m v totally agree!
Chill. She's talkin about the first person to come up with it. She never said it was of Thai origin. She's making Thai style papaya salad. And a lot of Thais I know know it's Lao origin.
Wheres the tamarind?
You can totally use tamarind if you wish :-) My version comes from the way my Thai mum makes it for me at home and we don't use tamarind for our 'som tum Thai'. But there are loads of different versions...and all are good!
I think my papaya just got ripe 😭
That is some weird ass looking papaya...
