In this video, Terence McKenna explains his theory behind why the universe keeps getting more complex (Novelty Theory). This audio is from Terence McKenna's "Final Interview" in 1998.
Terence Kemp McKenna (November 16, 1946 - April 3, 2000) was an American ethnobotanist and mystic who advocated the responsible use of naturally occurring psychedelic plants. He spoke and wrote about a variety of subjects, including psychedelic drugs, plant-based entheogens, shamanism, metaphysics, alchemy, language, philosophy, culture, technology, ethnomycology, environmentalism, and the theoretical origins of human consciousness.
McKenna formulated a concept about the nature of time based on fractal patterns he claimed to have discovered in the I Ching, which he called novelty theory, proposing that this predicted the end of time, and a transition of consciousness in the year 2012. His promotion of novelty theory and its connection to the Maya calendar is credited as one of the factors leading to the widespread beliefs about the 2012 phenomenon.

McKenna was a homosexual (radical) Marxist and everything he ever wrote, said or hallucinated was pushed through that anti-family anti-constitution anti-conservative filter.

2012 might not have been "the end" but one day we may look back and say: " oh, that's when it began"....
Universe 25. Its the peak.
We got sucked into a black hole or something. The mass of human consciousness must have moved to a parallel universe. I don’t know, but there are things I remember existing that just don’t anymore? Mandela effect things idk.
2012 was the crossing, after that point we move into higher and higher vibratory regions of galactic flow
A lot of people already do

Can we appreciate the fact that this interview happened in 1998 but he’s basically said everything that has happened up to now….. spooky.
Psychedelics will do that lol they give you massive foresight
@@helio68 They definitely can help, but really it's the way they open the mind, which is something that lasts long after contact. If you waste them like some kind of party drug that's an entirely different experience than a sort of ehh quasi-responsible and somewhat intuitive use.
Basically, it's what you make of it. Same is true for life. You definitely don't need them to have a revelation, but they sure can help.
@@EB-73- Back in the 80s as a young person I used psychedelics as a party drug but in the back of my brain I realized the Indians(for example) used something similar during religious ceremonies. Those days are long gone but the memories remain, now as I've went down the relationship of psychedelics and humans I have those experiences to draw from. I've also learned that some monks can achieve the same effect through intense meditation without them. I also think modern meds, poor diet(to name a few) has dulled peoples senses beyond rational thought, the opposite of psychedelics. Lastly, I can't help but think this has all happened before.
@@bluefish4999 Huge ups for sharing your story. I'm in agreeance on most points, and have some similar tales of my own, despite being a much younger man.
Depending on how far you want to go with that last thought, I agree completely. In one respect, I think we all have to admit nearly everything has happened before. As much as we love to think otherwise, as individuals, someone else has probably already lived every part of your life, thought every thought in your head. Maybe not all one person, or all at the same time, but the things we take for granted as being 'uniquely our own' really aren't ever ours as much as we think they are.
On the other hand, if you're more referring to the progression of time, one has to wonder, if the universe 'banged' out of nothing, and the universe is supposedly eventually going to reduce itself to nothing, maybe the nothing the universe banged out of is the same nothing the universe is collapsing into. No way to even challenge the concept really, with modern science, but in some respects it definitely does stand to reason.
And in a hypothetical third case, we're probably not the only ones it's happening to. For the science minded, we base so much on the back of darwinian theory, but never extrapolate the concept to higher levels? To think we are the only planet with life is very sort of middle ages thinking, especially when you frame it through the ever so popular lens of evolution. The 'fact' that this is what 'luck of the draw' looks like, is purely subjective, and entirely happenstancial. To make the assumption that there's no other species that has or is currently going through the same processes, is a rather fanciful thought if nothing more.
We don't really have content like this from present day speakers anyhow.Everyone is either dumb or dead.
One of the strangest things I’ve experienced in recent years is, as things get more and more strange, most rationalize or stick there head in the sand. It actually drove me to an intense study into totalitarianism.
I've had concerns about totalitarianism myself, interesting times ahead for sure.
In 2020 I remembered the Spanish flu from 1917 and guessed it was communism right away.
@@victorarregnelle8976 I wonder if they also avoided convos about absurdities.
Yep, that's exactly what this dude does. It's a common sentiment of weak people to think that the whole world is coming to an end when they do not have their own house in order. It's called projection.
As external pressure increases, the masses become easier to control as they give up their autonomy, because they feel they have no control. Which is why gaslighting is a conscious effort to achieve subjugation.
Spanish flu was less about the flu and more about our systems stupid, chaotic and fearful approach to dealing with it. Even back then I believe our “elites” knew that you ever let a good crisis go to waste.
This video perfectly aligns with the recency bias, where people overemphasize the importance of recent events while underestimating historical context. You touched on how people no longer discuss the fall of the Soviet Union, a monumental event in history that was once unimaginable. I see the same thing happening in my friend’s life, where they constantly focus on today’s challenges, forgetting the immense transformations they’ve already overcome. Your point about novelty theory reminds us to zoom out and appreciate the full picture, not just the immediate present
Nothing gives me peace and absolute gratitude for having a fraction of Terence 's mind translated in an ever eternal digital format. He changed so many lives after his passing, I am sure. Thank you AfterSkool as always.

If 2012 were some special date for an apocalyptic ending, you'd be advised to remember that that's the time when many people feel that social media became ubiquitous in our society. The year when social trends started really getting weird. So in a way, the old world did end then.
I've been saying that too he was right about the timing of a shift of somekind it just wasnt the immediate transformation that was anticipated
That was Obama's fault.

This. In 2012 Facebook went mobile.
its been 24 years since he passed and he still has such a profound impact
I'm not a fan. The guy expanded his mind, blurring the boundaries of reality, and it shows. He's quite open about his distorted perceptions. He repeatedly explains how he took something to be something else or saw something different. That doesn't make it so. Case in point, that's not what novelty is. The law of entropy still applies. Religions didn't sense an apocalyptic end, they prophesied one. These points may seem unimportant in themselves, but it's all like that, and those drugs are known to do that. Were this a friend, relaying his experiences on LSD, I would forgive them such blurryness and factual longitude. I'd even engage with them in appreciating the profound insights they found in their psychedelic experience. I wouldn't jot it all down, submit it to a philosophical journal and expect to be taken seriously. It's way to blurry for that. You can't be given the benefit of the doubt in philosophical enquiry. Architects build upon foundations and make structural considerations based on known and tested parameters. Artists, like the very talented artist illustrating this, convey imagery, considering palletes and style, using imagination and guesses. Terrence Mckenna was certainly an artist, but can in no way be considered an architect of anything.
It’s always good to question theories and belief systems, but never assume you know any better. Research Donald Hoffman he’s a neuroscientist doing work in areas that threaten the model of reality that modern science has stuck to for the last several hundred years
∞
Threatening models is all very well @@InsectElfMachines and I thoroughly agree with questioning theories and belief systems. It's what I am doing here! How do you question or refute something so vague and insubstantial as these beliefs? All that's left is to point out how vague, ill defined and insubstantial it is. It's a 'what if' based on no material observations. No observable facts. Nothing but a psychedelic experience that allowed him to distort his perceptions, blur the lines of cold hard scientific observations and dictionary definitions, and allowed him to be OK with it. I didn't take the same mind altering substances as him, and I still need there to at least be some connection to material reality, reproducability and dictionary definitions. These are fuzzy musings with cosmic potential, but no evidence, no handles on reality and no practical application. Nothing more.
@@JoesWebPresence yup. If Terrence believes in evolution and Outer Space, then he his not as ascendant as we might think

@@CB-hy3ld Nobody, including he himself, said he knew it all. He certainly understood the nature of human beings better than most and could articulate those thoughts beautifully. Peace.
I sometimes deliver to Amish people. For them It might as well be the year 1824 and none of these complex world changing problems(A.I, politics, bird-flu, world events) affect them in the slightest. I imagine its the same for other tribal peoples around the world. There world is just smaller and time moves slower for them. Humanity is on multiple time lines within this timeline.
Everything will be okay.
Just because parts of humanity is jumping off the cliff there will always be a few people that stay back and say no thanks, ill wait.

Yeah ill stay back and do things the old way. The “ new” human is rather disappointing and disgusting to me
Those who hang back aren't going to be given the choice. When the inevitable occurs, no human, animal, plant or bacterial will be spared.
I don’t think 2012 was the end, but the end of something and the beginning of an end. He said novelty spiked and then flat lined. Facebook went mobile in 2012. At your fingertips 24/7 and carried with us every where. The way that social media and smart phones are changing our brains, our grey matter... it's concerning. The mental health crisis and addiction to social media... it was created to become just that. I think maybe that's what Terrance saw. I definitely could be wrong, but I feel it. I know what my life was like before the world was at my fingertips. It was better. And it's slowly returning since having quit it.
I agree. I believe the Mayan clock wasn't the end of the world but more of a time period. Out with the old and in with the new. Somewhere I read where there are 4 quarters and 2012 we entered the 4th quarter.
Lightphone II
I am one that finds the cell phones to be the worst invention of our modern era. It has changed so many people into zombies and we do no more face to face like we used to along with such an easy way to brainwash young people as well as some old sheep.
That's just convenience though. If facebook went mobile 2013 one would have looked for some other revolution of AI or smartphones that happened in 2012 which could be called "the beginning of the end". Here, I'll prove it by doing a quick ChatGPT assisted search:
"
Sure! Here’s a TL;DR of the 2012 breakthroughs in AI, social media, and technology:
AI:
AlexNet (ImageNet): Huge leap for deep learning, CNNs dominated image recognition, igniting modern AI progress.
Social Media:
Facebook IPO: Facebook went public, solidifying its dominance.
Instagram: Facebook bought Instagram for $1 billion.
Vine: Launched 6-second looping videos, became a viral sensation.
Technology:
Google Now: Early personal assistant, precursor to Google Assistant.
Raspberry Pi: Affordable mini-computer for coding and DIY projects.
Oculus Rift Kickstarter: Raised $2.4 million, started the VR revolution."
So pick your poison.
Interestingly, "May you live in interesting times" is an old chinese curse, the idea being that interesting times are not happy times.
I didn't realize how much chaos my head was in paying attention to things on the internet until listening to Terence McKenna speak again because I felt this immediate outward sigh of relief
The best part about novelty is the excitement within the present moment.
The best part about being a conspiracy theorist is not having myocarditis.

Greetings from the Republic of Sovereigns❣
I remember the first time I had taken mushrooms. It was in February of 2013, my junior year in college, and the world was still there. I remember driving around the city with my friends that day. It was a cold day, a lot of pollution in the air from the inversion. People were fueling up their cars at gas stations, walking out of liquor stores, and staring at their phones as they walked down the streets. I remember observing this and thinking, the world didn't end in 2012, but maybe that was the year of no return for humans. As if we had crossed some sort of line. A dependency on fossil fuels and internet. That if you took those out of the equation, we would be done for.
Anyway, that idea stuck with me for years. I want to remain optimistic for human civilization, but Terence was right, things have only gotten weirder. To a point where I find myself talking about how weird the world is all the time to my girlfriend and friends. It's a very common topic now.
Thanks for sharing. Listen to Terence daily. Weird is being generous imho. Barbaric & selfish are how i would describe our world in 2024 unfortunately. Peace.
You can still remain optimistic for humanity, you just have to change the lens you are observing it with.
Don’t equate weird and turbulent with bad. Embrace the reality, which is that most people are resistant to change. As humans get closer and closer to the next leap in evolution- expect growing pains. The crazier times get is just the visual evidence of how much closer we are to something beyond ourselves.
Humanity isn’t lost- humanity is shifting into a new plane of existence.
This man is spot on look at where we are now
Duh, when skeptics say that the US will not have the grid capacity to support EV vehicles, they are not adding any perception to any of what they say because they are focused on the now, just one very small point in that will all and ever be. When people who have had a psychedelic experience and understood it for what it was they get everything and anything of all that ever was and all that will ever be. The third eye opens and you see all. This is why Jim Morrison named his band The Doors from the book The Doors of Perception. Humans who have never had a psychedelic experience do not have any perception on anything, and when you perceive consciousness as a soul and not of the energy of the universe manifesting itself to explore the anything and everything that is out there or will be out there, you are not perceiving yourself as the focal point of everything that is happening or that has ever happened but just what you are perceiving yourself to be you at small one point in the everything that is and will ever be.

This theory aligns well with my practice in zen Buddhism. When the mind has been stilled after the practice of meditation over many years, or especially in a meditation retreat, the nature of reality is perceived directly. From the empty mind all kinds of things emerge and the beauty of it all unfolding is clearly seen. To directly experience this, come to meditation with a straight posture, and a mind ready to let go of things that are unnecessary or hinderances. When all mental happenings are quieted, a different form of knowing is developed and we can perceive things as they truly are.

2024 now, i have definitely been experiencing the novelty increasing since 2012. i feel like it really started gearing up in 2001, 9/11. So awe inspiring to see goalposts now reflexively shift in the night. Is social media a driving force or is it the resultant output, or is it both at the same time.
in order to cope with the wierdness i spent 2020-2023 doing a deep dive into buddhist practice and some dmt work. i have an acceptance of it all now, it doesn’t bother me, but it does fascinate. fellow travellers, the dmt is only as good as your own mental incisiveness; sharpen your instruments well! psychedelic experience clears the mist, but where you are standing influences greatly the view.
i am very grateful to be a witness to interesting times, but realize too that interesting times happen in every life regardless of epoch, its how you interpret experience that lifts the veil.

Terence McKenna single handedly kept the talk of psychedelics in the mainstream, when NOBODY ELSE was talking about them. He would be proud to see all the research being done with them today. RIP to the greatest Psychedelic voice that ever lived ❤🍄🍄🟫
Psychedelics are bad, they force open doors to things people arent trained for and they force you to deal with dark parts of the mind and invite daemons. I done it all, smoking and tripping is never going to help you long term
I honestly wish I had done more psychedelics, but it occurs to me that for every McKenna there are probably a thousand idiots like me who would just go insane, I am most certainly better off for having left all of that behind.
Absolutely. Peace.
Sadly, "all the research being done" is still a small fraction of a percentage of what we should have done and learned by now.
i think about this interview often, more now than ever
Reality is stratified. While his timing is off, he is right about that being trivial. Because of the acceleration of complexity and novelty, as he says, we get a deeply stratified outcome where people disperse about the multiverse, many going to lowly dimensions, while those who were mindful of the process and elevated themselves get their Just reward and help others to do likewise. This acceleration results in transdimensional beings going on journeys beyond, while vulnerable basic others are taken to realms of suffering in greater numbers than the snatchers currently acquire. The irony is that basic people need protection, but duality generates the enemies and the vulnerabilities; when we go beyond duality, the enemies disappear. While we still need to avoid them here to live smoothly, the higher dimensions serve as their own refuge free from predators unable to penetrate the vibrational barriers until they are worthy and also on the Path of Return. In the end, the Law of Fairness resolves everything....
This is a great comment. Thank you for sharing.

I don't pretend to understand these concepts thoroughly. I can say that i have felt out of time for the last ten years. I feel as though I'm an old man unable to adapt to the world properly and that feeling occurred before i was 30yo. This commentary reminded me how outmoded I've been and offers a reason for it.
This is so interesting. He did this talk in the 90's...that was my mid 20's to mid 30's and time WAS speeding up! I remember my grandparents telling me how time goes so much faster the older that you get, but I knew in my heart that it wasn't just that it seemed faster only to me while I got older...especially since covid! That completely effed up what I call the 'time/space continuum (to anyone who listen) I knew it! Weekdays actually drag on longer than they should, but weeks are a little faster, and the months and years are FLYING by at the speed of light! THAT canNOT just be because I am living it in my 50's now, because talk to my kids all the time and they point out the same thing...and they are only in their 20's. Something universal is happening to time. I am not a scientist, so I don't know what it is, but it IS something. Something changed at the beginning of this century and it has increased its speed in the first 24 years of it.
Yes! Each day goes slow but yet the months feel like they are going fast
Don’t know if time is speeding up, or our perception is changing. My late Grandmother(1895-1991), used to tell me when I was young that,”the days are long, but the years are short”. In my 60’s, I realize that she was correct.
We spoke of that a lot in our college days and afterwards too. It's really funny, that if you sit in meditation and stay away from phones and technology, time feels like it has slowed down again a lot in this perspective.

Well...he does have a brother who's carried on some of Terrence's work but, still, I get what you mean, haha!
Maybe that's you, Pheonix! If Terence died a month before you were born, maybe you're actually him in a brand new body! (Hopefully this body will last longer than his previous one!!)
Realization is lighting up all across the world, just little points of light coming on in the dark, all throughout humanity. The ones who are changing things now won't be known until a future time, but they are here ; )
@@artawhirler Ive had the thought before. And we do have a similar way of thinking. But I doubt it. The only past life regression experiences ive had were of that of a Knight in ancient Europe, and a former slave eating with his family
@phoenix…michelangelo painted “the birth of adam” which is by many still considered to be one of the greatest paintings ever. If you get to see it in person it’s breathtaking. He was 24 yrs old.
You have no idea what you’re capable of. All personal growth happens outside of your comfort zone.
I sometimes listen to your channel during my morning workout. I'm 70, and all of my life I've heard various religions and individuals predicting the end of the world. He's one more. Eventually one will be right, proves nothing.
The quote "may you live in interesting times" more and more seems like a curse to me. I don't a flying fuck how "interesting" things are, I just want to live. In fact, it seems that the more "interesting" things are, the more intolerable life is.
It's a Chinese saying and yes, interesting is a euphemism for nightmare. You aren't wrong.
TM...brilliant as usual. I watch this every few years. Thing is, we as we are presented with this wild array of novelty, we're still here friend, and that means we are literally forced ( provoked ) into choosing what novelty to focus upon and make choices to give up our energy ( or 'join' our energy ) or decline to engage, or cease interaction and 'tend our own garden' if you will.
“The Tug of The Transcendental and Transformative” ~ Terence McKenna, circa 1998 🎃 10:39
Recognizable similarity to now. I have never heard this Terence talk before.
Power and greed will be the demise of humanity!!
I knew when I was 5 that if humans could control one another they would and now the tools for this are coming. You know they are. When computers become smarter than us and are everywhere then what? They'll be able to read us like a book and manipulate the weaker among us easily. Read Daniel 12 and Matthew , Mark, and Luke where the parable of the fig tree is told. This "fig tree" generation (1948) shall not pass until all of these things have taken place. The fig tree is Israel and Israel bloomed again in 1948. The generation born in 1948 is called the fig tree generation and although many many of them will perish younger than a full life a few will be alive for the human life span of ~120 years. The fig tree generation only needs to be alive to see the end to fulfill all of the verses. And they will see the end. This is inevitable.
One missing link says to another, “Power and Greed will be the End of Simians as we know them!” 🧘
- the end is a doorway to a beginning.
Technology will... The Connections (2021) [short documentary] ❤
Power & Greed along with Love, Hate, Racism & the Will of Survival have been around since the beginning & will be here at the End.
When good men do nothing …
Not seen this before, but I didn't learn anything I haven't thought about myself, nice to know others think the same 😊
I would like to see someone make a good movie about Terence McKenna
I've been watching after Skool for a long time and I have to say that some of the most beautiful and thought provoking drawings are in the video. Bravo! Well done Maestro!
We must be vibing, I've been thinking about his omega point idea recently. It's one of the most fun big picture ideas I have ever heard. Reminds me of Robert Monroe's books on astral projection, he goes to some level where transcended cultures of self-aware beings cycle back through some center point of the universe, bringing their transformation back as yummies for the all being. It's been 20 years since I read those, pretty fuzzy on the details. Certainly makes me wonder about potential design elements in the universe, that we really are taking part in something grand and sacred, despite how ugly it can be. McKenna's idea does a better job of explaining why that stuff is happening than a simple "God's will" idea. It's like, sure, but what is the shape and texture of that will? What's the story?
We still out here,Terence! Keep the dream alive 🙏💗🌍🌈🍄
Spot freaking on! Wow! This is incredible, gave me goosebumps.
I'm so happy to see you putting this incredible voice forward ❤ Terrence McKenna is my hero. He had the right ideas.
Crazy how spot on he was
So relevant now. Just love McKenna's work so much. Thank you.
Fundamental issue here is he's conflating the complexity of earth with the universe so this theory only applies to places with complex and evolving lifeforms which is to our current understanding - exclusive to earth
"To our current understanding"
It's a big universe out there.
Thank you for all the hard work After Skool team
Tesla, McLuhan, McKenna, Nietzsche, Jung are the people everyone needs to understand, read and listen and spread their knowledge. They are the prophets of our age. They point also to the future, we are here on one planet and we need to unite to create a new world for future generations.
Throw in Steiner there
@@katalinecker8674 Anyone can throw in anyone they wish, its a base, not a closed cast. I would throw in a few guys from my region such as Milanković, PP Njegoš, VS Karadžić and Allan Watts, Goethe and many more
Watts probably should be up there, too! Though...there's a fair amount of overlap WITH him and McKenna especially when excludin' any or all psychedelia, from TM's oeuvre! (At least from what I've seen of both it seems TM's/AW's philosophy, in or of themselves, seem pretty closely tied together, intertwined, or again, have a fair BIT OF OVERLAP...LOL!)
Add some Rothbard & Mises into the mix if you want to encounter econo death.
Mostly pseudo intellectuals besides Tesla.
Or maybe I'm just a genius of philosophy, but can't do math.
Beautiful video! I love seeing this kind of art over Terrance talks. He really was a profound speaker. Thank you for this wonderful upload.
When the world awakens to its own divinity, that's when and how it ends - with glorious new beginnings.
Or we blow ourselves into oblivion and something else gets a chance. I think if more people don’t get their head in the game extinction is more likely than enlightenment. But things they r a changin
Your illustrations are a fantastic compliment match for this late wizard of words.
Things do feel different since 2012. It was the year we first used the hadron collider, and some think it was when we shifted timelines. Time seems to accelerate faster and faster now and a certain innocence seems to have been lost. I personally think the Mayans and Terence were right - it was th3 beginning of the 21st century breakdown.
That's my time to be novel 😎 my name has a crazy story with its meaning, thanks y'all
Consciousness. If you could control the energy around and inside of you, you can experience anything without leaving the farm so to speak. Really. People will figure this out someday. We may already have and if so, we'll see the world and as it really is someday. The energy around us that we absorb from our environment can be manipulated using science. Energy can cause our five senses to experience any "virtual" reality. Matter is not there unless you are looking. This is science.
And each one of us is experiencing a different reality at this very moment.
Incredible, I think this is one of your best. Love your drawings and appreciate the rawness of it. Something great about the ephemeral, impermanent nature of the whiteboard art that is really fitting for the content you depict.
"Departing for the stars" required a prior religious belief that the stars are things men could travel to.
Thats in the mind, awareness opening
Some postulate that early uses of DMT may have the doorway to God. If reality is a bunch of electrical signals that your brain has to interpret, it would seem to be possible that the next step in evolution may be achieved by a process we don’t understand yet. We use what?, 10% of our brain. We think we understand The universe?! We might be in the goldfish phase of all this🤷♂️
Dont let stuff fool you. the human conciousness is the miracle we shall use this to remember and reunite tht what we are. we will go through the dark times ttogether and come ouot stronger. wer aare humans and we will prevail
Yup we are all talking about how weird everything is now
I’m grateful for Mckenna. He taught me how to get the best out of my medicine.
BFD. This is just more mind masturbation.
It’s great listening to this 10 years ago. Today it’s time for action and healing.
If you aren’t teaching us how to navigate through it more info is useless. Tell us how to be the most loving humans we can be to our family, friends, and neighbors and not turn to dysfunctional coping like most are.
Yeah, if 'we' can't make it work here on Earth, 'we' don't stand a chance on any other planet... the 'novelty' is absurd prima facie, never mind with serious consideration.
It's the brainyacs of the world that are hurrling us into extinction, the common man, woman, creature is not on board with this new hell.
@@Rufusdoc We have not transcended yet, but we have also not yet failed to transcend. Evolution is happening, but our lives are so fleeting, we just can't help but be impatient.
@@Mafyeux Indeed... spoken like a true muppet.
I think it can be a kind of bypassing. But perhaps there are people who need this perspective for some reason, and perhaps there are those who are on the edge of gnosis who need some tiny details thrown in to fully trust what is coming up.
2012. “I never thought things would get more strange.” 2013, “hold my beer.”
Truly a man ahead of his time.
He’s a real nowhere man living in his nowhere land
I absolutely ADORE these illustrations. The artwork, the concepts, and the ways the ideas are translated is the perfect accompaniment to these talks. They are so captivating.
(And seemingly no mistakes or rubbing out?!?! :P)
Terrance McKenna seems like a good guy, so not hating- but his statement about complexity and thermodynamics is clearly based upon an incomplete understanding of the concept. I think a better way to look at it is that the universe’s “goal” is to turn every quantum of matter into heat (i.e. the most useless and disorganized form). So by creating highly complex creatures, it is actually achieving this goal in the long run. Highly complex organisms (like us humans) create significantly more heat than all of our constituent atoms would on their own. For that reason, to me, it makes perfect sense why complexity would evolve. It aligns perfectly with the goal of the universe- to turn everything into heat.
I think this is correct... I can't remember who said it but it was something along the lines of if you shine a light on a rock long enough (the sun on the earth), thermodynamics/entropy necessarily and unsurprisingly would engender 'life' to accelerate the heat. Though I do wonder if temperature is more perspective-dependent than we realize. Entropy has a subtle dependence on what initial conditions the observer chooses to define, and in some sense, the second law could be 'transcended' once all those perspective/observational points necessarily unify (such as in the remote, rarefied future, when there's just photons and all black holes have evaporated). Cyclic imaginary time is (the inverse of) temperature. 'Heat' is one of the most coarse-grained (amorphous) quantifiable observable we have, so I wonder if we're selling our cosmology and physics short by reducing all of our ontology and metaphysics to mere temperature.
@@erawanpencilInteresting!
Ah! So that's why hot tubs, saunas, and working outside on a bright or sunny day (so long as is no, or low, humidity, so excludin' FL, LA etc or not in the desert so no AZ, NV, CA) feels so good to us, despite being we're all already running around at ~100°F internal body temp(s) as it is, anyway? LmMFaO!! ;) :P :o)
This is such a great idea. 😛 The data centers of the future will heat like trillions of cars...
He knew that for sure, one of his best mates is a physicist. I think you're missing the part where things get weird from here on out...
Such a deep and meta perspective of the evolution of our species. Makes one feel differently about one’s own role and participation in the madness. And not least: the finitude of one’s life. Take care, fellow travellers! 💞
Terrance is a great example for what happens when one attempts to derive insight from chemically induced hallucinations - they are good for a stimulus to spur creativity, but without engaging critical thought, worse than doing nothing at all.
Just out of interest have you taken any trips?
@@missrachael1709 People who have these opinions never tried it. It's impossible to argue with people who are stubborn on the subject.
We as a society have compressed our graph on a plane of no travel; wherein the peaks cannot see the valley in any form of dimension
You trip so hard that you don’t even realize you took Datura. You forget, because your memories are imaginary. On Datura, you can have conversations with friends you knew from high school. You might sit there for two hours having a conversation with this good friend of yours, only to realize later that you never knew this person, and they were never in your room. You were just talking to the wall, hallucinating an entire human being with whom you believed you had an intelligent conversation.
Now, people might say, "Oh, Leo, that’s crazy, that’s pretty far out there." But all that shows is hallucinations, right? No, you misunderstand. I am that hallucination. Right now, you are hallucinating my entire body and voice. I am just your mind talking to you. You’re hallucinating me right now. You hallucinated all my videos. You know, I warned you at the beginning. Do you really want to know what reality is?
This is the highest teaching. I’m giving you my highest teaching. It took me over 15 years of reading, studying, thousands of hours of contemplation, meditation, going to retreats, doing powerful psychedelics, racking my mind to understand all of this, to figure it out.
Here it is: my highest teaching. Number one, you are God, and there is nothing but God, and you are all alone. That’s number one. Number two, everything is imaginary. There is nothing but imagination. God is infinite consciousness-infinitely intelligent, infinitely powerful, unlimited. It is also infinitely Terrence Mckenna and infinitely loving.
..and still the process of entropy will at some point in the future see the end of all life in the universe leaving nothing left at all
@@joker14n My body went supernova and just exploded out into Infinity. It was like I was an ice cube thrown into the ocean and it just melted. This was by far the most incredible and most positive and most joyful experience that you could possibly imagine. That was the moment of death and I had the Epiphany that death is the greatest thing that could happen to a living creature because it feels like in that process of dying for a split second it's terrifying because you're dying and you have no idea what's coming next. But then as you fully let go and the death occurs the next Split Second you're so relieved. It's like your entire life was this giant thousand pound weight wrapped around your shoulders just tons and tons of weight and then all of it was just lifted in a split second and you realize that you're untouchable and that you're Immortal and that nothing could ever disturb you again. It's complete peace just utter peace and joy and profundity. The beauty of it is Indescribable.
How is it possible. There's no way that this is possible. Did I really just die? How could that be?
I'm laughing and I'm smiling 😂
@@dmtdreamz7706 Your search for answers paid off. I have came to the same conclusions. God is all. God is the faceless, the boundless and the infinite. “We” are the products of infinity being split into the finite and shrouded in the veil of forgetfulness. I believe this is all done to know what I AM. If God is faceless, boundless, and infinite, what is God? I do not know. So the only thing to do is to create and observe. I found my ticket of understanding through patterns, numbers, and geometry combined with large doses of mushrooms. The difficult part for me is what now? Now that we know, what do we do besides try to make heaven on earth. Maybe you can share your thoughts on this. I am grateful for my existence and the gifts and guidance to figure it out against all odds, but I do yearn for my freedom. This meat suite is far too small 😊
