I spent so many years of my life under the spell of cigarettes, depression and severe ptsd. Gained my freedom with the help of nature using mushroom (psilocybin) precisely. After my experience with shrooms five years ago every cigarette I lit up tasted like literal poison. I would take one hit and put out the cigarette. I haven't smoked since, no more depressive mood and ptsd. Few doses of shroom experience made a 15 year 2 pack a day smoker quit instantly. Shrooms are life changing. There is no way you can put into words what it feels like..

Even if I take it or not I still have that pain, so afraid I'm gonna git sucked back in to the pills cause I can't even work but can't get disability either so idk what folks like me do but prayer is all I have done and still the pain so idk anymore 😢 sorry for rambling. Just searched on chrome and sent him a message. I would really love to go with this treatment as well
I was horrifically depressed since childhood. It was relentless. I assumed it would ultimately end me somehow. About twelve years ago I randomly accepted the offer from a friend of a few doses of mushrooms. I did them two consecutive nights alone. First night was pretty mild. The second night? Wow. I saw my depression from every angle, realized much. Next day: depression totally gone. Never came back, never coming back. It's like it's a forest far away I can remember, and could probably find again with enough effort, but it has zero impact on anything in my life or mind. They honestly saved my life and improved it immensely. I never did them again, either. I wish there was a good, organized way to administer them to people who would benefit from them
Terence repeats many things that Leonardo da Vinci wrote about in his codexes - the importance of immediate experience, mathematics, the fundamental importance of nature, etc. He is truly an Immortal Mentor.
Hes a once in a century soul and mind. Like on a level of prophetic. Genuine and lived for others. What this man exoerienced to help better understand and help everyone and save society and evolve it.
Terrence was one of the greatest minds of our time. His whole theory of habit and novelty still blows me away to this day. I've never heard anyone quite like him.
I was very into McKenna in the 90's even though I understood maybe 25% of what he was saying. Funny how much more it makes sense today. I think I understand 27% of it now. Actually it makes a lot of sense and reminds me of ways of thinking that's mostly lost to me these days unfortunately. I truly hope future generations can gather together under a unified vision for life on earth. I doubt I'll see that. He remains the only person I've ever heard use the word 'concrescence' 😊.
only problem is nowadays with fentanyl being added to possibly every street drug, even pot, it is extremely irresponsible to promote any type of illicit drug use because the dangers far outweigh any benefits, it makes his message seem short-sighted and shallow; there's no mind expansion going on when the drug taker drops to the floor dead.
@@reverietrades Yeah but also, we are nature. This is nature . Shit Im gone again. He definitely seems to be closer than anyone else to what this great cartoon really.. might.. be .. ?
just to observe a human being arrive at a location, set down, and just speak “off the cuff” .. to witness a mind and imagination so superb with ideas and intelligence,.., with a seemingly other worldly ability to express his inner workings verbally, and communicate it in a manner that captivates, and feels almost magical… it’s nothing short of amazing. i have never just sat and have been absolutely bedazzled just by hearing a human being form a symphony of words like i have with Terrance Mckenna. 🙏🏼
I’ve found psychedelics have helped my PTSD from Iraq become almost irrelevant. This after being prescribed over 26 medications per day by the VA. I no longer need them. I’ve found myself also seeing everything much differently now. I analyze current events and society, as well as life in general totally differently now.
Your "ressurection" gives hope to all others seeking the same. these changes may only be achieved one at a time. I've overcome many obstacles, including addiction, but am still in struggle w/ further demons. Your words give me hope and to others i'm sure. Carry on my brother.

One of his best talks. I really enjoyed the brief time I spent with him. Listening to this reminds me just how brilliant he was and how eternally relevant his message. ❤
@@rickknight3823 I spent those years as somewhat of a young psychonaut, using psychedelics to alter consciousness with hopes of better understanding what consciousness is, and expanding it. I became fixated on philosophy, trying to find answers to life's existential questions. I credit those years for my individuality, not following societal norms, and my overall way of thinking. If I could metaphorize it I'd say, imagine a building with six doors. Two of the doors are open. You have a single file line of people slowly herding through the open doors while I'd just walk alongside the line and open a new door. Naturally, a portion of that line breaks off and follows me through the newly opened door, but I never actually see anyone open their own door. It's kinda hard to explain the impact it had, but I'd be a completely different person if I hadn't had that influence. it makes sense in my head, but I feel like I'm doing a terrible job communicating it.
@@JJJJspam thanks for the effort there. I think you did a reasonable job of communicating your realisations and experiences. We have his words, no one is going to turn this place around for us. We must do it one at a time, in our own lives. Life will change when we change what we value.
These recordinga are golden and I thank those who were orginally charged with dividing and putting these into web interaction seeing the spreading of his message and brilliance to those of us who knew him then, and those who are now part of the ongoing awakening. His recording of, however it happened was a treasure chest revealed. The importance of the "felt presence of experience".
I want to help humanity as a whole, I feel as though there is only so much I can do. I know I'm not alone in this feeling and I would like to encourage everyone else on this journey of healing
" Animals are something invented by plants to move seeds around". Priceless. If ever there was a true ludic genius of our age who had real clearity of the moment we live in it was Terrence McKenna.
I actually had this thought a few weeks ago. My wife brought some flowers into the house, and I realized, we are animals that move plant seeds around even though it seems like we are just using them for their beauty and scent. The plants use us. Symbiotic, really.
That really is a tripped out idea and could be true. Photosynthesis is one of the craziest things ever, almost like magic because the plants turn photons, carbon dioxide and water into solid material, almost nothing is used from dirt they grow in..in a way that seems more advanced than the way animals grow. How can a coconut or a piece of hard oak wood be made from non-solid materials? And to think it happens right before our eyes unobtrusively; no explosions or sounds, no noticeable movement, but huge changes are going on.
@@joejones9520Thanks just saw this great comment. I totally agree. Photosynthesis is the mystery miracle of miracles now understood at a quantum level. Now if that isn't trippy what is? If you haven't already, and you probably have, check out the world of lichens. It is theorized that lichens were the first life forms to adapt to living on land and that they broke down the rocky surface to create soil that enabled aquatic plants to be able to put down roots and adapt to living on the surface of the planet. They're indestructible zero kelvin unshielded exposer to radiation doesn't seem to effect them much at all. No sunscreen needed. Fascinating. And probably covering any of the myriad of planets out there somewhere among the countless galaxies that have life. Plants as Terence McKenna used to say are us! Have a great day.
Terence McKenna was surely one of the great humans of the 20th Century in my opinion, although so many people still haven’t heard of him. He was a serious intellectual who wasn’t afraid to question scientific reasoning or religions. Thankfully the wealth of knowledge he conveyed to the world through research & direct experience of psychedelics has been captured on videos like this one.
What can be said, nothing. Just listen. His understanding and ability to communicate such abstract concepts is astounding. He has thought, seen, experienced and articulates everything with such exact precision. His conversations never leave one with a feeling of confusion or inferiority. He is both complex and simple and expresses his love for life and radiates the beauty that are woven through his knowledge and understanding. His contributions are essential to help humans adjust and understand universal connection and growth
But why has everything changed for the worse ? Because al these imaginairy selfies have no free will , Thinking that there's such a thing as free will IS the imagined self .
I’ve heard a lot of these recordings. He was very judgmental of very many different “types” and “categories” of people. He changed over time due to what appears to be a desperation for his and his children’s lives. Only in that desperation he seemed to be begging everyone to help.
I made researches and found out that shrooms are very helpful, it has really helped to reduce anxiety and depression and some other mental health issues.
This is a well-done tribute to McKenna's life work. The artwork is beautiful and totally suits everything there is about that man. I see his work is becoming popular once again after a couple decades, especially will all the reposts of his work. Although, the style of the author of this video is top notch, so thank you.
I love hearing this beautiful man❤ although, Ive just recently discovered him. I've been on my spiritual journey for quites some time. I took the sunglasses off to see. Now that I see, I'm finding what I can do for all of us. For all life. Not just people. Animals, air particles, blades of grass, rocks, other planets, all minerals, everything. I think if we all set our intentions towards harmonizing and loving the all, that we could help in a very impactful way. Just 2 minutes before you sleep to spread that love and light we all have. I love you all dearly❤
A friend of mine in Hawaii said he worked on Terrance McKenna's farm once on the Big Island. He told me that he was a really cool guy, and treated the people he hired like family. ❤
I love how this hits after a recent trip, not tripping right now, just makes sense lmao I had a short moment of total peace in the now and it made me realize I'm not at peace normally

“We have not awakened to the depths of the crisis that surrounds us.” Equally true in 2024! It’s up to each of us to inner-stand what’s going on inside of ourselves, rather than seeking to under-stand what someone else is saying is truth.

These psychonautic travels are amazing themselves, but the way he’s able to articulate them is what i really appreciate, the writer in him. He is the reason why i started exploring the unknown, entered into those ”spirals/portals” that took me places i could never imagine. Inspiration is the best gift we can give to one another, or a fat joint, that’ll do the job too.🐸 Anyway im too high for this…
There have been prophets and wise men all through human history, and it's fascinating to be a contemporary of someone like Terence McKenna, Graham Hancock, Alan Watts, Eckhart Tolle....just to name a few, who are deeply concerned with helping us finding our true nature. It's equally fascinating to see the majority of human beings living in ignorance and hostility, especially the ones holding power, trying the best they can to destroy this planet and our wellbeing.
@Kev Amor stupid argument. If a group of hackers about whom nothing is known about suddenly started attacking thousands of bank accounts would you deny their existence being like who is hacking? can you say who?
@Kev Amor Start with Vanguard or maybe the Rothchilds or maybe the Royals or maybe the 1% who hold all the money or maybe the police or maybe the cartels or maybe the Yakuza or maybe the Vatican or maybe the Oil princes or maybe you?
It's nice that you include Graham Hancock in this, I love the guy, he is far more of a philosopher than these apparently angry hateful people think of him as. They think he's trying to spread disinformation when he's not, he's spreading a very important message. Even though there are many arguable and honestly, easily believable aspects to his research and his points, it's not the true message. Like Ancient Aliens, but he does more than just Question history, and pose alternatives. But in the same way as Ancient Aliens, it will force a paradigm shift in the populace. It will make people think differently, and have different conversations. What's the endgame of people thinking differently? HOPEFULLY the widespread awakening of us all, that we are raping the shit out of our poor planet and none of us are really that happy at the end of the day. WE ALL need to go to rehab, for greed, for resent, for self control. Billionaires, world leaders, homeless drug addicts and hard working men and women alike. We could be happy just staring at the sun if we gave up the chase and helped eachother, loved eachother. Why are we so afraid to get along with eachother?
@Kev Amor If you are so naive as to ask such an ... elementary ... question, you are not worthy of any serious answer. But I'll give you a hint: the camps will have a rainbow over the gate. Now grow up.
Did you have siblings or parents introducing him to you at a young age? A great deal of adults probably couldn't comprehend what he's saying, let alone children.
Isn't it interesting that shrooms give many people the same trip? That we are all part of a super-organism, all connected to each other, and all ultimately going the same place? It's as if mother nature is giving us clues to survive.
We're giving clues to ourselves. The essence behind humanity, rooting for us, is us. We're playing an evolutionary drama with the limitations of the organic vessel.
@@shrunkensimon Yes and I think those trips put you in contact with who you really are. Just like alcohol supresses some emotions and fears, and people loosen up with alcohol, I feel that shrooms and these substances make you in a way loosen up that constant concious attention in our neocortex, that human property that allows us to stand aside from ourselves as a watcher, and this substance supress that making ourselves one with the course of who we really are.
Same with synthetic substances I think it’s so much more than “Mother Nature giving to us” and the fact natural and synthetic substances are both capable of producing psychedelic experiences through the same mechanism demonstrates this.
Beautiful message and artwork! Community is necessary component. Albert Einstein said, “We cannot solve our problems with same thinking we used when we created them.” We created an legal system which is adversarial by nature, a winner and a loser. We created a competitive economic system and educational system creating corporate slavery. Our economic system is fueled by the insatiable appetite of consumerism depleting our Earth’s resources faster than they can be replenished. Einstein also said in reference to Nuclear energy, “Humanity hasn’t evolved enough to use this energy for only peaceful purposes.” Personally, I dropped out of society and into a spiritual community, a communal living society thinking that was part of the solution at that time but I experienced the same nepotism, control, manipulation, dogmatic and judge mental attitudes of society at large. My current thought is that humanity hasn’t evolved enough to live that potentially egalitarian peaceful way of life of selfless service to all. Many communities exist but by necessity live isolated to one degree or another from main stream society. Today I live alone and I am free to practice meditation but I am still contributing to the depletion of our collective resources. However, I am not giving up my optimism for a quantum leap in consciousness for all of humanity. In the meantime keep working on changing myself to express Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control. As Dr. Joe Dispenza says, “When we change ourselves, we change the world!” -- I am remaining alert for community operating from a “higher resonance of reality” vs living in an alienated society of dog eat dog.

This man understood how to express himself linguistically and I love listening to him to calm down or if I want to think of possibilities. I find myself out loud saying “right?!” He just was way ahead of his time.
I think it's awesome that these substances help so many of you from what I read in these comments. I am nearly 40 and never felt like I needed these types of "trips" to already realize those things Terence describes... I always thought that way, since I can remember. I wish there was more said about people like me who don't need substances to be openly connected to the universe and consciousness..
Losing a lot of valuable material in a fire is a common story, for those who are speaking about issues, the powerful elites find uncomfortable. Months after one government retirees who was close to the JFK drama and spoke out, his house and 40 years of research went up in flames.

Hang in there. Terence would recommend psilocybin. It's the cutting edge medication right now for depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, any kind of trauma. Large medical research institutions are studying its benefits. You can buy mushroom grow kits and separately one can legally buy spores of medicinal mushrooms.
@@Sobermama927 A lot more people feel the way that you do, even if they are not willing to admit it, for fear of being perceived as too negative, or because they haven't even checked in with themselves. I of course try to be pleasant when I am around people, I try to make my interactions healing and uplifting, to others and myself. But at the core of the world we live in is great evil. That's just reality. If people were all nice, or at least not cruel and awful, this world would be a beautiful place. It isn't. And while it can be said that people behave according to circumstance, upbringing, and in some sense luck, it's hard not to feel like you are better than the evil ones in positions of power in this world, if you are at least a decent and well meaning human being. Anyway I feel your pain and sense of disconnection quite literally, it is no different than my own. It is written that the 3 greatest gifts God gives are faith, hope, and love. Most assuredly there is more to what all our pain and suffering is about, than the world we take ourselves to be part of. Have faith, it's better than not having any even if it feels like lying to yourself. I wish you and others peace, happiness, and that we may all find humor and meaning to make this part of our soul's journey tolerable.

@@brettvogel8418 you said humanity hasn’t changed, and I agree, the core of humanity has yet to change we strive for comfort, society on the other hand is a man made creation, which does change. Isn’t society an echo of the populace? I’m honestly wondering more so how it doesn’t change.
The world exists, the world gives a human an idea, ideas shape the world around us, the world changes then hence the ideas change. Society is broad consciousness and a man made structure to meet human needs. But society is fundamentally just a mass collection of ideas that imprint themselves on people and people imprint onto society. Saying that society doesn’t change doesn’t make sense to me

I am still here, whether I want to be or not. Trees are special to me, I heard them say once, we will take care of you. All creations are alive . Red is clear. Clear is red. Black is white, white is black. Red is black, black is red. Clear water is Red like blood. You might think I am out there somewhere, I am. One morning, I took a shower . My shampoo was red. I thought to myself, oh cool. It was clear. My friend came out of the shower and said to me, "I never seen Red shampoo before." I said, "Look again in your hand." In her surprise, the shampoo was clear. The shampoo was telling us what you think is not what is. I know all life love us in their own way. 😊
I was thinking today that we can't solve our problems by the same (linear, analytical) mind that created them when hearing people talk about Elon Musk. Terence McKenna had that other sort of mind and I'm so glad he shared so much.
I remember McKennas last interview, the only way that the universes consciousness would survive is to get on a Spaceship out to space. I think Elon would play a huge role in this scenario, cause his the only one who knows that humanity is doomed if it won’t leave earth.
Very well spoken.. if people were to use these “plants” to be more introspective instead of to just get high and party i think that people wouldn’t have such a negative outlook on them. Its sad how many people i know and talk to that believe taking psychedelics and doing cocaine sit at the same level that its disgusting. Most people are under educated on this subject and i wish that Mckenna was here today still. I told a buddy of mine who suffers from anxiety and depression that he should try micro dosing and he shot it down very quickly being against “drug” use.. also on another note. Im starting to question if you are the one taking the psychedelic or if the psychedelic is taking you.
His words unfortunately illustrate what is happening in the world currently. Once he mentioned that civilization is a race between education and apocalypse, which I cannot agree any more
Some of my key moments from this: Terence McKenna quotes: On Capitalism: “There’s a lot of kind of self-congratulatory back-slapping going around these days, over the fact that communists everywhere are in hot water and have to admit that they did it wrong, and that gives a lot of satisfaction to people who feel that means we did it right. We didn’t do it right. They did it wrong and now admit they did it wrong. We do it wrong and have yet to raise the possibility of turning away from what we’re doing…” On Culture: “Our culture is in trouble - not in trouble - we are at a terminal crisis, a bifurcation that can go only one of two ways. Either horror beyond your wildest imagination or breakthrough to dignity, decency, community and caring beyond your wildest imagination. Now, where do you look for models, where do you go? The answer is so obvious - you go to nature. Nature has been playing this game for 2 billion years on this planet. Nature has an economy. An elegance. A style, that if we could but emulate it, we could rise out of the rubble that we are making of this planet.” “Culture is a garment which you put on. Medical systems are pieces of jewellery which wrap around your throat or neck. Religious ideals are like objects which you push through nostrils and earlobes. If we cannot come to terms with that which allows us to give birth with these. To die with dignity, and to live in health, then what kind of a future do we have? No. Future. At all.” On our abstraction: “Abstraction is the knife poised at our hearts. We are so much the victims of abstraction that with the Earth in flames, we can barely rouse ourselves to wander across the room and look at the thermostat. That’s the level of disimpassioning that abstraction has laid upon us.” On psychedelics: “The only thing I can preach is the felt presence of immediate experience. Which, for me came through the psychedelics. Which are not drugs, but plants. It’s a perversion of language to try and derail this thing into talk of drugs. There are spirits in the natural world that come to us in this way. And as far as I can tell, this is the only way that they come to us that is rapid enough for it to have an impact on us as a global population.” On fear: “History is a kind of horrified realisation that something has been lost. That there is an itch hard to scrath in the civilised context. That we have out of fear really, descended into patterns of domination of each other, of the environment, of our children, of our social relations with exogamous groups. We have descended int o a dominator pattern that is basically based on clutching on fear…” On why there is a feeling of dis-ease: “This is the consequence of ceasing basically to do enough hallucinogens in the diet. From around 100,000 to about 15,000 years ago, human beings were in a flirtatious situation with a symbiotic relationship with this mind, resident in vegetable nature.” He relates it to the relationship between a fish and a sea anemone. “If you take the little fish away from the anemone, it doesn’t die. It doesn’t go into an immediate physiological crisis. No, what happens is it simply has a low body weight and a short life-span. In other words, it is under stress.” “I believe that the lost secret of human emergence, the undefined catalyst that took a very bright monkey and turned that species into a tormented. self-reflecting poet/dreamer. The catalyst has to be sought in these tertiary alkaloids in the food chain that were catalysing higher states of intellectual activity.”

Oh he was Definitely extremely intelligent, there's no question.
Such an immense mind, and the clarity of thought 🤔 is beyond compare... Never tire of listening to this incredible mind/soul ❤️
Agreed.
I was very into McKenna in the 90's even though I understood maybe 25% of what he was saying. Funny how much more it makes sense today. I think I understand 27% of it now. Actually it makes a lot of sense and reminds me of ways of thinking that's mostly lost to me these days unfortunately. only problem is nowadays with fentanyl being added to possibly every street drug, even pot, it is extremely irresponsible to promote any type of illicit drug use because the dangers far outweigh any benefits, it makes his message seem short-sighted and shallow; there's no mind expansion going on when the drug taker drops to the floor dead.

How has it specifically influenced your life direction and choices?

And to think it happens right before our eyes unobtrusively; no explosions or sounds, no noticeable movement, but huge changes are going on.
if that was true the like millions of species of animals who dont move seeds wouldnt exist
@@toebiter69 You're right of course but I think Terence McKenna had a point up to a point but was also just having some fun with the idea.
Spot on and yet he's portrayed as a hippy nutter by the mainstream. Idiots. Peace.

@Kev Amor black nobility

Isn't it interesting that shrooms give many people the same trip? That we are all part of a super-organism, all connected to each other, and all ultimately going the same place? It's as if mother nature is giving us clues to survive.
Same with Ayahuasca.
Once I tried shrooms, I said the whole world needs this. This will help us heal ourselves and the world.

That's just reality. If people were all nice, or at least not cruel and awful, this world would be a beautiful place. It isn't. On Capitalism: “There’s a lot of kind of self-congratulatory back-slapping going around these days, over the fact that communists everywhere are in hot water and have to admit that they did it wrong, and that gives a lot of satisfaction to people who feel that means we did it right. We didn’t do it right. They did it wrong and now admit they did it wrong. We do it wrong and have yet to raise the possibility of turning away from what we’re doing…”
On Culture: “Our culture is in trouble - not in trouble - we are at a terminal crisis, a bifurcation that can go only one of two ways. A style, that if we could but emulate it, we could rise out of the rubble that we are making of this planet.”
“Culture is a garment which you put on. Medical systems are pieces of jewellery which wrap around your throat or neck. Religious ideals are like objects which you push through nostrils and earlobes. If we cannot come to terms with that which allows us to give birth with these. To die with dignity, and to live in health, then what kind of a future do we have? No. Future. At all.”
On our abstraction: “Abstraction is the knife poised at our hearts. We are so much the victims of abstraction that with the Earth in flames, we can barely rouse ourselves to wander across the room and look at the thermostat. That’s the level of disimpassioning that abstraction has laid upon us.”
On psychedelics: “The only thing I can preach is the felt presence of immediate experience. Which, for me came through the psychedelics. Which are not drugs, but plants. It’s a perversion of language to try and derail this thing into talk of drugs. There are spirits in the natural world that come to us in this way. And as far as I can tell, this is the only way that they come to us that is rapid enough for it to have an impact on us as a global population.”
On fear: “History is a kind of horrified realisation that something has been lost. That there is an itch hard to scrath in the civilised context. That we have out of fear really, descended into patterns of domination of each other, of the environment, of our children, of our social relations with exogamous groups. We have descended int o a dominator pattern that is basically based on clutching on fear…”
On why there is a feeling of dis-ease: “This is the consequence of ceasing basically to do enough hallucinogens in the diet.
Thank you very much. We all will suffer as long as we are in service to the ego. Find out who you are beyond ego identity.
Slowly but surely people are finding out that Terrance has so much wisdom to offer in the approaching age of AI.
everybody should listen to this
