I always say the same. People that complain about Lang Lang mostly do it because of: 1) His expressions. Well, he is an artist, he can express himself however he likes, thats totally up to him and listening the music shouldn't bother you. A more prodigious that any of his haters, very surely. As an artist, he can add his view of art (music in this instance). You wouldn't say Picasso sucked because his style was not realistic, would you? Well, same goes for music. Everything Lang Lang plays sounds 'like Lang Lang'. That makes him special. For the ones that try to search for perfection in the scores, i remember to you that scores are just written representations, not the final word, but something to make a rendition from. Very probably not even the composers played it exactly the same every time. None of the big pianists of this and the late century have become famous for being stuck and narrowed in the writtings, which would lead to stickiness in the playing and reduced flow or personality. All the opposite! They've become great artists through their own understanding of music. That's what happens with Lang Lang, same with other pianists, and that's mostly why i just LOVE hearing him play. He is at the level of piano deities.
I just love this man. He is amazing. His contorted faces, too, express the whole of his being as he floats away in his own little world. He is the best pianist alive.
Some people may not like his interpretation of different pieces but you can't lie- he is a very skilled pianist. To be at such a level where you can play as free as you want in tempo and dynamics whilst keeping the notes clear with articulation and without looking at the keys, is incredible.

@@joemiller95 I'd agree with you if this was Chopin's second sonata, but it's a waltz. I think in this case, you're the one who doesn't understand the context of the music. Just because I think it would be interesting, you should try listening to Rachmaninoff playing Chopin's waltzes. And you can only imagine how Liszt would play some of Chopin's pieces (however in that case, he would protest at times, and perhaps rightfully so). I do think that Lang Lang tends to make things ridiculous but in this case, he doesn't overstep, even a bit, and I think anyone who thinks he does are brainwashed from current music norms. A contemporary proof of this fact is that metronome markings tend to shock us - we're so used to hearing pieces being played in a certain way that any attempt to recreate the original tempo completely shocks us, even though that's what the composer intended. I think in your case, you're probably used to hearing this waltz being played in a certain way, and that's probably why you dislike this interpretation, much more so than any "composer's intention"-explanation.

We all know he can play it as Chopin wanted and he clearly wanted to do it the way he wanted to do it, I think it’s the highest honor for an artist when someone takes so much pride in their art that they spend time making their own version of it
Yes, like they're little tunes from TV ads. He can turn any great work of art into a trivial jingle. Few pianists have such a talent for that like he does.
I love clicking on Lang Lang videos just to see the massive amounts of shit he gets spewed at him. Combine that with his overly happy face, and it looks like he's saying with his facial expressions "I see you haters out there, and I don't give a single fuck."
Theresa Mah Well I don't! agree ! I used to play piano when young ! and when the pianist loves music he shows it in many ways! this is Langs way of expressing his love for the piano and for music !~
+SevenUpHub I'm not sure that I understand his facial expressions. Many great (and not-so-great) pianists also have interesting facial expressions as they play. Look at Fazil Say and Evegny Kissin, two of the greatest ones. But here's one thing for sure. If making such facial expressions would allow me to play even marginally close to as well as Lang Lang, you can bet that I would make them. I'd make even more extreme expressions if it would help me play a lot better than I do. But I guess they are two separate things for the most part---his great talent and his facial expressions, which probably channel his feeling for the music. I can make all the expressions i want and I don't play a bit better.
I can't believe a video like this would actually get hate comments. An extremely talented man playing the piano, obviously enjoying it, and people find something bad to say. What more could people want. It baffles me.

So please anyone to hate, show a vid of you playing this piece while we can criticize you, because you can't do any better than he did. Or really close to as good

Lang Lang has to be one of the most controversial pianists in the way he handles all these pieces. Some love it and others despise him because he almost selfishly recreates his own version of the song and speeds it up

young ppl today can do so so much . plays and tricks and skills that were regarded as hard and difficult are now so simple and easy.. definitely the humann kind is getting better and better at everything... congrats man.. i wishh i will be like you one day
Sorry... but there is no evidence to support what you are saying with regard to young people doing so much and mankind getting better. Your statement is nothing but feel-good nonsense. Why don't turn on a radio station and take a listen to the crap that passes for music today. And if you think it is so simple and easy for young people to play a piece like Minute Waltz, you really need a reality check. Do you have any idea how many hours a day Lang Lang has practiced the piano since he was a little kid? Your statement is also an insult to the mass amount of effort he has put into this to get where he is.
Its kinda stupid if you think you and lang lang are on the same level john. Lang can achieve in 1 hour of practice what many people including you take months to do. you are insulting Lang Langs talent by spewing out "hard work" bullshit. Admit it, not everyone requires the same hard work to achieve something. So dont say that Lang Lang is good only cause he worked hard. It almost seems like you feel like you can achieve the same if you work as hard. Cut the bullshit. he's better cause his brain is. So stop bullshitting yourself and admit that he's much better and much more talented
Artaxerxes -- Reread my comment (or have someone read it for you in the event you do not know how to read) and point out where I stated or implied that I was on the same level as Lang Lang. I know the guy has talent. I never said he didn't, you dummy! However, talent alone won't make you a world class pianist. He still had to practice hours a day from the age of 5 and still does (according to Lang Lang himself in interviews) to get where he is today. That was my point of that statement! And the general point of my reply to Mauro was to refute the nonsense implication that Lang Lang can do this because the younger generation can do so much more than their predecessors. Obviously, reading comprehension is not your forte.
i do hope LangLang played this piece just as a warm-up to get the feel of the piano because he is capable of playing with much more feeling than this and not just tossing it off, as witnessed by the huge bang at 12'' and the disdainfully played staccato note at 39'' and 41'' Not a recording I would cherish.

Lang Lang is AMAZING! He played the song fast and with perfect dynamics! He’s not only playing the music, but also feeling the music itself.
(I was practicing this song, if you play the video at 0.25x speed, that’s my speed)
I'm also practicing it even though I shouldn't be-
I'm practicing this for my talent show and its in like a week I'm dead
How’d it go?@@whatinthestaymoaengene
@@Leslies_life its been a year since i did it, but it went great! it was really fun to play it in front of people, and they seemed to enjoy it too :)
@@whatinthestaymoaengene haha lol i know it was a year ago, but it’s glad to hear it went well :)
How can anyone dislike this? It's just amazing!
Um, how about because he plays it WAY too fast and smushes the notes?
+Alice Blankenship Not even true! He just missed ONE second and there's no note smashing; just the first octave and i don't happen to dislike it at all. Music is about feeling not hating. Stop hating and grow it up, don't be a kid. This performance was not just casual for him, but outstanding for anyone out of his level. Stop being ridiculous.
+Daniel Ren Cause they know that they can't play that good
+Alice Blankenship Just read the piano sheet please, I'm quite sure the tempo was "molto vivace", meaning "more than as fast as possible" so um, point invalid?
+iJarvis nope
This guy adds grandeur to even the minutest piece he chooses to work on... I couldn't help but smile when I watched his interpretation of the 2nd/middle section of this piece.👏👏👏👍👍
We all know he can play it as Chopin wanted and he clearly wanted to do it the way he wanted to do it, I think it’s the highest honor for an artist when someone takes so much pride in their art that they spend time making their own version of it
The way he can keep the dynamics intact while playing that quickly definitely tells you something about his skill!
Lang Lang is the only pianist who can play the most difficult pieces so easily and playfully!
Junzo Kokubo
Yeah he's the best
Yes, like they're little tunes from TV ads. He can turn any great work of art into a trivial jingle. Few pianists have such a talent for that like he does.
I think Yuja Wang may say something about that.
It’s actually not that hard if you compare it to the other pieces that top-tier pianists play.
Certainement pas !!!!!!
Lang Lang ist schon einzigartig . Immer auch was für's Auge . Darum dachte ich dieses Video ist mal eine Abwechslung mit Freude.🤗
Exquisite. Superb. His use of time, phrasing, expressivity and technique is outstanding. In my personal opinion, the best pianist there is.
I like how he played the left hand 1 octave lower at the beginning 😅.
Hello my friend! l just opened youtube chanel l am playing piano. Can l get subscribe pls🙏🙏🙏🙏
I love clicking on Lang Lang videos just to see the massive amounts of shit he gets spewed at him. Combine that with his overly happy face, and it looks like he's saying with his facial expressions "I see you haters out there, and I don't give a single fuck."
I totally agree with you,
Theresa Mah Well I don't!
+SevenUpHub He's just happy to play the piano
Its what makes him great.
Oh my gosh. Beautiful performance! And his body was so balanced as well.
If I ever had one minute or two minutes of my life left I will spend those minutes listening to Lang Lang play this waltz!
Wow he didn't even do a single back-flip during this performance. What a pleb
Sclerotic Wtf lmao
I mean who doesn't if I dont do at least 3 backflips during the exposition of a piece than what kind of a pianist am I anyway?
I can't believe a video like this would actually get hate comments. An extremely talented man playing the piano, obviously enjoying it, and people find something bad to say. What more could people want. It baffles me.
Amazing! I have listened to many others playing this piece, but Lang Lang is the best! No one else comes close.
Hello my friend! l just opened youtube chanel l am playing piano. Can l get subscribe pls🙏🙏🙏🙏
trying to learn this piece, it is magical and lyrical and relaxed with Lang Lang - it's not a heavy piece, I love this interpretation of Chopin's wonderful little waltz
Absolute pleasure to watch
amazing
Those who don't like his face, just open a new tab and listen his amazing playing, but please stop complaining here
Every Lang Lang video, all the comments are hating on the haters, but there are never any haters to begin with...
Sooooooooooooo awesome!!!!!!
I was so amazed by the way your fingers danced around the keyboards. The music was totally fantastic!!!!
For everyone calling Lang Lang terrible I'D LOVE to see you learn this piece!! Especially this fast, it's incredibly hard, and you all are being unrespectful to him, I am impressed at how fast he can play this, because I've been playing.this piece for over a year and I can't play as fast as he can. So please anyone to hate, show a vid of you playing this piece while we can criticize you, because you can't do any better than he did. Or really close to as good
When you know nothing about piano but you wanna convince other people you do, you say:
He plays too fast!
minda chen I love you
💀💀💀💀
A wonderful pianist, one of my favourite. I played this Waltz as a child for my Mother.
Bravo Lang Lang! The most organic and beautifully played this charming Waltz in the most natural way I have ever heard!
Forest of piano....now I shall binge on these performances!
Absolutely incredible. Wow.

the fact that it still sounds so incredibly nice and well played when you put it on 0.5x is amazing
That's not how you're suppose to play music or listen to music.
How would you feel if someone puts sushi and hot dog and dip into your coffee and serve it to you?
I mean the sushi might be from a michelin star restaurant, and the hot dog is world class, you're still going to puke.
@@handsomejustin did you mean to reply to my comment?
Einstein: Theres nothing faster than light.
Lang Lang: I’m pretty sure I’m faster than light.
Ling Ling: Hold my beer.

He is amazing ! He plays so well. Just perfect. Love to listen 🎹🎹🎶🎵🎼
Lang Lang has to be one of the most controversial pianists in the way he handles all these pieces. Some love it and others despise him because he almost selfishly recreates his own version of the song and speeds it up
Searched up Chopin for some motivation, and I came across Lang Lang. I supposed he’s helped as I am sitting at my piano now. Don’t really know what happened to my love for playing. I feel like I’ve lost it amidst all the other things piling onto life. Piano is supposed to be an escape, no? Yet now it feels like another chore. Anyways, thank you Lang Lang, I’m going to practice now.
Enoyed watching Lang Lang enjoying every single note
the emotion in piano playing truly cannot be imitated unless the player displays such strong physical expression
Jeez he plays it like it's just a simple warm-up 0_0 HOOOOOWWWW?? It's lovely :D
I love his interpretation it's so joyful. Cannot stop smiling while listening to him
What's wrong with this amazing performance? I can't believe there are so many people dislike this...
He's as bad as someone who puts Sushi and ketchup as toppings on top of the coffee you just bought.
Yes his sushi might be good, his ketchup is fresh, but you coffee as a whole taste like weird shit and it makes you wanna puke.
This is Lang Lang. Someone who makes classical musicians puke.
What is it that people dislike about this? It's amazing
You didn't hear that, but I was screaming 'WOOOOH' after you finished.
Not just his piano skills, but the way he makes it look so casual and everyday...
with such happiness and confidence..
He's enjoying the music he's creating, going himself to the other side of the world through music
This is just so ridiculously impressive.
When I played this song I would spend five minutes, at least!
This is so great!
Sara Seidel Ok, maybe four. :3
Hello my friend! l just opened youtube chanel l am playing piano. Can l get subscribe pls🙏🙏🙏🙏
I've never heard phrasing like this before!! phenomenal!
Mis respetos para este señor,,, excelente interpretación 👍
This is the sound of my pet centipede running and prancing about in my room.
Subtly improvised and well emoted. Lovely.
l think that all the stupid and negative comments that people make about lang lang, are the things they say about everything in life. Happiness and enjoyment is obviously not what these people want. Lang Lang is different and refreshing and amazing. He has given me a reason to practice my own playing.
young ppl today can do so so much . plays and tricks and skills that were regarded as hard and difficult are now so simple and easy.. definitely the humann kind is getting better and better at everything... congrats man.. i wishh i will be like you one day
Sorry... but there is no evidence to support what you are saying with regard to young people doing so much and mankind getting better.
Two minute waltz. Only person ever to play it in a minute was Chopin himself. So the legend goes.
I think this is the best verison of this piece. yes I said it.
the dynamics! i find his interpretation so light, fun and interesting. i like it
Lmao, his expression at the beginning is like "bruh this is one of the easiest pieces ever"
He is so amazing. Would love more Chopin!!
lang lang and ling ling need to collab
Super duper good, good on how you play it.I could listen to this forever.
"If you can play it slowly you can play it quickly"
Lang Lang has a pair of beautiful hands!
GRANDISSIMO
Meraviglioso
Incantevole
Love You
Don't get me wrong, he's an amazing pianist but I am laughing so hard at his eyebrows at 1:13 THAT WAVE THO
You should look at 1:52
The way he plays this piece shows he is the best pianist in the world.
i do hope LangLang played this piece just as a warm-up to get the feel of the piano because he is capable of playing with much more feeling than this and not just tossing it off, as witnessed by the huge bang at 12'' and the disdainfully played staccato note at 39'' and 41'' Not a recording I would cherish.
The most amazing facet of the Piano is that it needs no lyrics, No explanation, Only to be listen & heard
Perfect dynamics! This is a marvelous performance!
I love everything you did here.
Chopin, my most loved piano composer. Sorry to died so young.
Awww.....61 seconds, Lang Lang. You missed it by just a hare.
It took him 100 seconds. For me it would take 100 years.
best version ever! I really like this feeling
*Where is Orange??*
Frédéric Chopin Mr zhu's dad have bought some already
This is the best rendition of this piece

His body is feeling the piano as he presses a key and another, amazing!
For people who dont like him because he "plays too fast" or he "doesn't read the score properly", I have one question.
Can you play like that?

Amazing pianist! I send you love and respect, because you worth it
