S550 Danny Rousseau’s version was amazing but not gonna lie the difference in terms of touch and clarities is really huge with Lang Lang...I am constantly blown away by the little details that can actually make a piece sound completely different...To be able to play this song at a plausible level will be my ultimate goal for the next 3 years :D

Hard to explain but it feels like he delivers the Excitement so well that it seems like it's a different song, probably because he played it a lot faster but it was still so accurate and well executed. There's a difference between smashing keys between langlang and normal people, he is at the top of his game and we are not. When you reach professional level of playing and have full control of the piano, it all comes down to how one interprets the piece, you would have to research how the composer felt when writing this piece, and i think what langlang played was how he perceived the information he got. If you think he is show offing then go ahead and think otherwise because that's what he feels right now. Everyone has a different emotion in every age. Langlang style will change while he ages just like any musician. So instead of hating it, why not enjoy it while it is still infront of you
John Smith How else would you play it? Playing with just the 2-3 finger wouldn’t create the same dynamics and you might even cramp up practicing. It’s much more efficient to do what Lang Lang is doing

I must have watched this a million times. Lang Lang is just flying on this piece. He's the boss and have total control of this to the point where he is literally, watching the bullets fly like in the matrix.

You can't really tell how good he is when he plays songs like Turkish March or Fur Elise, but you can tell when he plays La Campanella. I am left speechless... meanwhile I'm still trying to play Moonlight Sonata 3rd movement.
I can’t tell if he is the best pianist but he is really good at it. I have listened to many different version of La Campanella and this is the only one that didn’t make me feel bored (I’m just a beginner in the world of classical music so I feel bored easily but I can really feel the emotion this time)

He's "working" that face (my god - - have you seen his other videos?) for all it's worth, to endear himself to his viewers, and to persuade them that he's - - [wait for it] - - ENJOYING himself. This is what nearly every commenter says: "It's wonderful how he shows so much joy as he plays", as if all those dozens of other pianists out there are suffering in abject misery as they play. Some day, when Lang's face becomes less cute and less cuddly-looking, the smiles (and his fans?) may start to dwindle, and he may have to morph into a serious, dignified, respectable professional. I love Lang Lang's Passion and interpretation... He gives life to all his renditions.
When Lang Lang plays it I can somehow feel the meaning of the music that was written hundreds of years ago, amazing!

How in hell could a piece like "La Campanella" move one to tears? Something like Rachmaninoff's "Vocalise", I could see. But this shallow showpiece by Liszt?

Lang Lang has certainly spiced up my life. Incredible with speed and accuracy. His interpretation is extraordinary too. Really enjoy this performance.
Take a look at the other musicians, how surprisingly look at his fingers!!! We have to know that the world has only one Lang Lang!!

Lang Lang plays awesome but is also the first "cool" piano world class player. He really enjoys what he does and shows it. Like that. This piece: very interesting interpretation; partly losing the track of right keys but then this is an insanely difficult piece.

Normally I don't listen to music much and I found Lang Lang. God I love this guy! I listened to every piece on UA-cam he played and want more.
It's like he's having an intimate roller-coaster of a conversation with the grand piano itself.

Again with the 'emotion' thing! Look - - there's emotion in, out of 100's of examples, such works as Beethoven's "Appassionata" and "Les Adieux" piano sonatas. But in "La Campanella"? None that can be 'named' as such.
You can't really tell how good he is when he plays songs like Turkish March or Fur Elise, but you can tell when he plays La Campanella. I am left speechless... meanwhile I'm still trying to play Moonlight Sonata 3rd movement.
I can’t tell if he is the best pianist but he is really good at it. I have listened to many different version of La Campanella and this is the only one that didn’t make me feel bored (I’m just a beginner in the world of classical music so I feel bored easily but I can really feel the emotion this time)

Smiling throughout this or ANY piece makes him look like a jerk - - a clever jerk, though. He's "working" that face (my god - - have you seen his other videos?) for all it's worth, to endear himself to his viewers, and to persuade them that he's - - [wait for it] - - ENJOYING himself. This is what nearly every commenter says: "It's wonderful how he shows so much joy as he plays", as if all those dozens of other pianists out there are suffering in abject misery as they play. Some day, when Lang's face becomes less cute and less cuddly-looking, the smiles (and his fans?) may start to dwindle, and he may have to morph into a serious, dignified, respectable professional. Horrors!
The best interpretation after watching many other versions and dozens of time. Exciting, nice development from start to finish like reading a book. Complete mastery of the piano.

La Campanella was written by Paganini (2nd violin concerto 3rd movement). Liszt only arranged it for piano, but what a hell of one.
