it's terribly bad. Get new ears, loser. Lang Lang is an insult to all these great composers. If you want to listen to a real musician you have hundreds of options. Start with the XXth century greats. Today, Kissin, Shishkin, among many many others, are actual musicians and much better than this clown who can't even follow a basic tempo or play with real dynamics which make actual sense.

Lang lang gets more colors from a piano than any artist I've ever heard. I was present at a master class he did. When he reached over the student seated at piano and he played example of what he was trying to get the student to do....you would have thought someone SWITCHED the instrument. It really evokes vibes of the aristocracy of those times, the walking thru those majestic galleries covered of marble and paintings, the afternoon games in colorful garden, the chatters of the courtiers in front of a tea and of course, the absolute beauty of those adolescent girls waiting to be asked to dance a valse during a grand ball.

As someone who is playing this piece, big respect for this performance, he makes it sound so flawless and so easy.
For me atleast 4:07 and onwards is very difficult to play with a nice sound, it always sounds "stressfull" and kind of difficult, you can sort of hear the struggle.
But not with Lang Lang that's for certain, he makes it sound like a walk in the park.... :-)

From 1:24 If you have played this piece, you will notice he played an octave lower slowly (left hand) to create a darker and deeper sound.
And then he moved higher/faster/higher to create a brighter and louder feel, what a beautiful way of playing!
Sorry my english not so good.

The score is like paint. What the musician does with the paint is up to him. Some critics just like paint by numbers. Too bad, because they have no clue what the original painting looked like anyway. Don't forget that a lot of music was written for the performer to improvise upon and the scores were not cast in stone, like some would have us to believe.

A graceful, virtuosic and original rendition of this waltz. How elegant, refined, sensual and exquiste Chopin's (music) waltzes are. The repeated notes don't sound too clear when played too fast and some parts are a little agressive or too fast but it is still a very interesting interpretation (I love the ending, it's very creative and convincing) One of the aspects of your performances that I love the most is how confidently you play in public. Bravo, Lang!!
