A massive thumbs up for this video 👍 Not only do I own the Rage 5S but I also own the same router. I will be building this for sure and look forward to your advanced version. Cheers 👍😎🇦🇺
Thank you very much. I'm in the process of making a router lift for version 2. Not sure if it will be all in one video. I think it could be way too long🤣 and I thinking of making 3 versions of the router lift so all corners would be covered for people. Depending on what router they got. Like a plunge router or palm router.... too mamy ideas 🤣
Love how easy it is to insert - and a cool locking system. I think I'll have to make this immediately (and put off making the oak shutters that my wife has asked for!)
Nice design Tomasz. I saw 3D printed blocks on eBay to allow a similar router table extension on the Rage 5S but your design will work just as well. Thanks for sharing 👍
The same guy has a few other interesting 3D printed parts for the Rage 5S. I got an end cap that helps with dust extraction if you don’t use the blade guard. I think he does runners to use in sleds as well.
@@mrnobelnigel yeah he does. I've made some out of aluminium and also hdpe. All the videos say hardwood, but this is what I had to hand. Work really well for cross cut sled.
I also used hdpe to make my sled bars. I got a replacement mitre gauge bar from the same guy with the hope of removing the ‘slop’ in the standard item. Yet to fit it, but I’m wondering if I could use the bar to mount a different mitre gauge.
Well done, Tomasz, been looking forward to that one for some time. Asked you a while back to consider making one. Waiting for the dedicated one next week. Which I will also build and try to come up with some underneath fold away legs to support the extra weight. As always my friend, I am following you from the UK and greatly enjoy your videos. Dude I was just thinking of how to do this to my evolution table saw. Thanks for the video will make it much easier for me to do it. Looking forward to the advanced solution
Been looking for something like this for a while gonna wait until next week see the other option as I do have a bigger router as well Great as usual keep up the great content
I made a similar drop in table 6 months ago and still haven't fitted my router! I like the toggle clamp idea. Mine slots into the front and rear channels with the front plywood strip sliding into the channel after it drops into place. I hadn't got my head around a good fence setup so, like others I'm waiting to see the next episode.
Excellent tutorial! Thanks for sharing. I made a simple clamp on style router table that clamps to my workbench last year. I used it to make some shaker style doors - absolutely fantastic! Initially, I was using my cordless Makita trim router, but as it worked so well, I purchased one of Katzu 'knockoff' models which now lives in the table. I can also report that the dust extraction in this mode works extremely well, particularly as the tool is inverted, and most of the dust ends up in the cyclone! Nevertheless, I might just have a go at your nifty number as it might just save space, and, hey, it's always fun to add functionality to existing tools.
Very nice video and build Tomasz, i actually bought that Katsu Trim Router ages ago to use on a Mini Router table when i make it, at the moment it's having a long break as i haven't made it yet ha ha ha. Stay Safe, Barry (ENG)
Very nice and simple modification Tomasz. My only thought for a minor improvement would be to add some more MDF onto the exiting fence so it can be split, and the bit spin between the split fence. I guess we will see what happens in version 2 :)
Hi Tomasz, I was intending to do precisely the same thing very soon for my Rage5-S so you’ve saved me a useful amount of design thinking. Many thanks. Using the principle of a drop-in filler plate as you’v made, other tools can be dropped in in a similar manner. I’m planning an inverted jigsaw with a blade guide for the tip of the blade having seen stand-alone versions on UA-cam. I don’t have a bandsaw or the space or funds for a decent sized one. Other tool ideas are also possible limited only by imagination.
Just Brilliant Tomasz !! I was struggling to think how I could put this together and was even considering a dedicated table. Glad I waited for you to put this together and you made it soo simple but soo effective and elegant at the same time. I have the same router and table based on your reviews so going to put this together.. looking forward to the upgraded version!! thanks again
Hi Tomasz, great videos as usual. I've been thinking of making this attachment for some time now. Like your design brilliant and simple. Will ammend my design and adopt your toggle fixings. Looking forward to additional fence in v2.
Damned ! This is the future evolution for my saw. This is even more awesome for small workshops like mine. Can't wait for the full module. Just one thing : I think the katsu router is fine for finishing pieces but not for hard work like dovetails or grooves. It needs more torque imho.
I would say that's true about the katsu router but I have tackled many projects with it that in theory is not designed to do. But it tackled them flawlessly. Version 2 will be with a router lift for a plunge router that is much more powerful. But I think I will make 3 different types of lifts. Two for a plunge router but using different materials ( cheaper and more expensive ones) and a third version for the trimmer router.
Thanks for your reply. It's the simple router extension. I bought the Katsu router but need longer Screws for the table extension as you must have used in your kind video. Please can you tell me what to get? Thank you for the awesome help you provide in your videos 😀
@@robertmessham4814 so you need screws that hold the router to the table? I no longer have this extension as I made a full boxed up version of this. Just measure the thickness of your current base plate screws from the router with callipers. Then the length will be tad longer than the thickness of the table top material. That's all. With those dimensions just pop to your local DIY store and get bolts/ screws that will fit your dimensions.
