Thank you Tomasz, as ever. Your explanations are always crystal clear, invaluable to newbies like me. Love the idea of HDPE runners, but horrified at the price of engineering stock. Then it occurred to me that all our local (London UK) 'pound shops' sell 40x30x1cm HDPE kitchen chopping boards for approx. £4. I reckon L40cm should do the job on this table, and can get a few sleds' worth from W30cm- will confirm once I get around to trying it out! Best wishes, Simon.
Exactly what I was going to suggest! Cutting boards seem to be pretty solid and should withstand the come-and-go wear. I'm surely going to use one of them as I've an Evo saw and each time I need to use the miter gauge it's a real pain.
Or you can go the 3D online shop route. I have a Metabo TS 254 M and the rail Is 12mm so I can´t use the standard T runner. I found a SketchUp runner design online for the TS 254 which strangely Is slightly bigger (13mm.). So I just had to modify It a bit with the free version of SketchUp (2017) and send it to a 3D online shop which cost me 13€ a piece. We sometimes forget we live In a 3D world now 😉
Nice build Tomasz, if you want to have a larger 45 degree cut or whatever size you want and it crosses a 90 degree cut, just pick a side and stick with that side that way you will have a side that is for 45 and 90 only, and the other side for whatever size cut that you want to use. hey Tomasz, thank you for another wonderful idea and super clear video. I just picked up my Rage 5s. Why would I make this miter gauge upgrade rather than a sled? When would one be useful rather than the other? Sorry for the silly question - I am new to woodworking and I was planning to build a sled because that's what everyone on youtube does. But this looks simpler and like it gives me all the same features.... ?
Well with the mitre gauge its easier to cut longer boards that are not too wide. With a sled it's much easier to cut small pieces and wider panels or boards. With a sled you got more stability and you can add clamping facility.
Hi Tomas - love your content. Couple questions. Where do you get those plastic boards for the runners and is the blade in your table saw an evolution blade? If so, which one did you fit? Was it the fine tooth wood blade? Lastly, could you sell me a zero clearance plate?
Thank you kindly. The I buy the hdpe sheets off ebay. 2cm thick and I went for one that's 50cm x 50cm. I mainly use Saxton blades with the 25.4mm bore hole or Freud blades and a reducing ring. Although I'm running tests on multiple blades so there's a lot of swapping in and out. On my table saw usually have a 40 teeth blade. Unfortunately I don't male those plates anymore, sorry.
Hi Tomasz, interesting video, thank you. Does this mod mean you won't be utilising the sliding table section? i keep looking at mine and wondering about how to make more use of it! I'm also considering removing the saw from the frame to incorporate it within a bench - if only to build some sort of dust trap.... Couldn't help but notice your fence hanging off the conduit - you do know there's a parking place under the table on the left side? Cheers
The slide will be used for bigger jobs and this gauge for quick short jobs. Its just quicker for me that way. I always look how to improve th work flow and make things quicker. In the end result it all adds on and I can tackle projects more efficiently. Yes I do know and never used it 😂
Hi Tomasz, great video as usual. two questions tho if I may, is there any benefit to using the little rip fence, and secondly, would using this improved mitre gauge with the sliding carriage replace a cross cut sled? (Limited space so I haven't built one yet). Thanks
Rip fence - yes for pieces that otherwise would get stuck between the blade and the fence, like the small runner I was making. Second question - possibly, depending on your needs. I I were to cut smaller pieces that require stable clamping I would still use the sled. I may design a more compact version soon, that has got more features and would replace my bulky one.

hey Tomasz, thank you for another wonderful idea and super clear video.
@@CasualDIY thank you Tomasz, we're lucky to have you!

Do you think a smaller fence would work if you drilled multiple holes? (allowing you to move the fence position). Love the channel btw!
Yes should be fine, depends on your needs👍
What is the plastic material please
HDPE plastic 👍
@@CasualDIY Thanks for reply, I look forward to seeing it if you do.
Another version of the sled will be good to see. Thanks
@@akbarhussain9216 it's on the "to do list" 👍😁
Ré je voulais vous demandez est ce possible de le faire avec du MDF merci beaucoup cordialement
MDF is not hard enough, trust me I used it in my first ever sled
Use ikea chopping boards for runners
Yes thats a good option as well 👍
I don’t use mine. I might now. Thanks
I didn't use mine either as it was pants. Now totally different picture 😀👍
Moi je n'aime pas quand la lame passe de l'autre côté de la cloture.
Hi Thomas do you have email ? Reason I ask is I need help with my rage saw 5 and I want to send u photos to see if u can help . If not no hassle mate love the channel am doing ur add on router box at moment . Cheers Derek.
Hi mate, no problem just send them to casualdiyuk@gmail.com 👍
Thank you
@@CasualDIY hi mate thanks. I have a rage5 and when I cut wood it is coming out as a v shape wedge?? Sorry not figured out how to send photos on this. Doh.
@@derekwilson6516 Just drop me an email if you want. But it seems the blade is not parallel to the fence. I do have a video on how to tune up your saw. That should answer your questions 👍
