Just bought one and today after assembling it, I am calibrating it. This is my first table saw. I practised on my friends prior to purchasing and loved it. So now I have my own. I have already got an evolution 2800mm track saw and Evolution DB mitre saw. Brilliant tools.
How cool is that sliding side option 🫡 Also, the bloke upstairs is trying to make a drum video and is apologising about the tosser downstairs with a saw 😂😂😂
Karl, I've been far more used to using bigger more industrial type bed and cabinet saws and there are many excellent videos on them on UA-cam. This is the best video I've seen on smaller saws that the average woodworker would come into contact with. Excellent video well presented. 👋🤚👋
They should be very happy with that demo mate, a top overview and a good looking budget saw. Lots of cool features Ive not seen at that end of the market before.

Hi Karl, A very helpful video, It's good to know these thing's about tool safety. I don't have a table saw but I know one day when I do get on I'll just look back for this video, good advice and tips. Great video, Take care mate👍
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I have recently purchased a Rage 5S and I am beginning to learni the fundamentals. Your video helped me on at least 5 points. Thumbs Up from me and a subscription.
@@karlpopewoodcraft I forgot to mention. That sliding table took me by surprise Karl. It's a great feature to have on such a small sawbench. A very useful built in addition. Cheers Tony
Hi Karl, I've got the Dewalt table saw but I'm loving that sliding base. I use the Evolution sliding Mitre saw, and it's also a great bit of kit. Must confess the table saw scares the crap out of me, which is no bad thing.
HI David, yes the features on the Evolution are fantastic and it's excellent value for money. I also love my Dewalt DW745 which is no longer made, its rock solid quality.
Great video m8 very well explained. The sliding table on that saw kinda seems like it bumps it up slightly out the jobsite saw category. Looks great for beginer saw. Very well explained video and oroper in-depth knowledge 👏👏🏴👍

at 10:10 with regards to repeatable cuts. With the Rage 5S, you can use the additional fence as a stop block. For safety, fitting the shallow fence, so that the front of it is 3cm's before the blade (it works just like your piece of wood; however, due to it being more secure, it is less likely to get dragged/pulled into the saw). The shallow fence will extend beyond the measuring gauge but not pass the blade.
Really useful and clear video, thanks Karl. Also, a neat table saw. The moment you said about the tosser upstairs, my Alexa woke up and said she didn't understand 😂
Absolutely superb video Karl, this will definitely be my recommended viewing for be tablesaw users. Quick question, are the Evolution mitre slots still non standard sizing like most worksite saws?
Thank you Dean, 😊 that's great feedback. The miter slot is pretty standard I believe it's the same as my Dewalt. I'll have a measure tomorrow when I'm in and let you know the size.
@@karlpopewoodcraft cheers fella, I know they at least used to be smaller because you had to make your own runners (no biggie). I spoke to Evolution a couple of months ago but forgot to ask them lol
Hi mate, I find the fence works well. You can easily remove it but it's recommended that it's fitted I believe under UK health and safety. It helps reduce kickback because it allows the wood to move once past the blade and reduces any potential binding.
Hi Karl, I have just purchased the rage 5S and have noticed that the sliding table has some play in it. does yours? also there appears to be no information in adjusting this. Evolution have also produced a zero clearance plate for the blade that is aluminium with a plastic insert in it , a big improvement in cut quality.
Tell me you were an ex forces without saying I'm ex forces (I did work that one out before you mentioned it) That video could been produced by the cassette heads 😂. Cracking presentation, I have the saw and learnt a few things there.. Cheers
This is the best beginner's table saw introduction/instruction I've ever seen. Your explanations are calm and clear. Thank you!
