  • This week is such fun with lots of walking, but sadly we needed to leave a good park up due to boy racers arriving at midnight. So, after a disturbed night's sleep we decided to leave Penistone Hill Country Park and head to a more peaceful park up in a car park next to Marsden station and the Huddersfield Narrow Canal. From there we headed to Hayfield Camping and Caravan Club Site for a couple of nights giving us the chance to explore the local area including a walk to Kinder Scout.
This is episode 123 in a series of videos cataloguing our post retirement adventures. We are Kath and Sue and we are travelling the UK with our two dogs Archie and Fudge and living full time in our Burstner Elegance Motorhome. We have given up conventional living for a new van-life, enjoying the freedom of the road and plenty of time outdoors taking in the beautiful countryside the UK has to offer.

Love the Peak District. Remember a school trip up Kinder Scout ! At least your boy racers weren’t doing burnouts in the car park ! Remember in Port Lincoln in South Australia having a car arrive doing doughnuts/drifting …. Ah the serenity of screeching tyre noise and burning rubber 😂🙄 Van Life 😂

🤣🤣🤣 Our boy racers sound tame in comparison. All the best. Xx🙏🤗🚌❤️

It’s a stunning area and, as always, you showcased it really well, thanks. We’ve only done a little bit around there so will use this vlog as a reference for a future trip.
Happy camping guys from Eurosully 😃👍

Oh what a lovely life Archie & Fudge have!!🥰👍 Amazing places to walk & sniff and splash about it the water!!! I had a laugh at the state of Fudges legs then you found some water for her to chase sticks in! Just the job! It’s also so useful when the campsites allow dog washing too isn’t it? (Although I was thinking with Sasha’s little feet I’d need a rubber mat on top of that grid if she was going to cooperate with a wash!!
Stunning scenery beautifully captured again👍👍 incredible cobbles everywhere even the big car park. It’s fascinating. I’d love to travel back in time in some of these places-seeing the working canals!
I loved seeing Fudge obviously looking at the drone! I think you packing it away must be quite an ‘interesting’ process when you’re out together?! It’s a wonderful ‘tool’ to get such panoramic shots of the Peaks (or wherever!) I don’t think I’d have a hope of controlling one though! (& Sasha would ‘kill’ it in no time!!!🐶😜)
Because of inevitable muscle loss/a little weight gain we are just starting some gentle rehab with Sasha before our imminent trip. Buggy and dog rucksack are top of packing list. Our van is small so we need to get organised!!!!! Hope your parents are settling in to their new home and happy?
Sending best wishes to you all and hoping you’ve had good weather this past week…it makes van life that much easier doesn’t it?!! Take care, Anna, xx🐶🐶🐶💦☀️🤞 🚐

Good to hear Sasha is making some improvement. I’m sure you’ll be back going strong again soon. I’m amazed you spotted Fudge watching the drone. That was the best behaved she’s been when I’ve been flying. Normally she’s trying to leap and snatch it from the air. You would be fine with a drone. They are surprisingly easy to control. Hope you get away in your van soon. Happy travels. 🙏🤗🚌❤️

Lovely vlog as usual. I must go to the Peak District again. Not been there since a school trip at least 45 years ago. With regard to boy racers I always have a plan b in case I feel the need to move on. Only happened twice in six years of vanlife at Hackpen hill in Wiltshire and Belfast a few days ago. No reflection on either location as I’ve stayed at both several times but I can’t relax if I’m worried about my van.
