Thank you for uploading this video. My honda 07 plate 2.0 VTEC wasn't starting properly at times and was making a high pitch noise before firing after a few times turning on and off. I ordered the ignition switch relay on EBay and managed to Install it myself today thanks to this video. Now it's all fixed and the car starts perfectly fine. Thanks again : )

Good power from new battery but when turning the key to start I get nothing...just a click. I replaced the battery because it had been starting as if the battery was low, i.e. sluggish. I'm thinking it's the starter so having it towed to an auto shop. 2008 Element with 105,000 miles.
@@johnpedersoli7605 If you hear just a click from the engine bay, then it's the starter. Top tip, if you're stuck somewhere, get a broom handle or something and smack the starter while someone inside tries to start it, then drive to a repair shop, just don't shut it off until you reach the shop or home.

Negetive. You are working around ABS component/wires, you need to disconnect power. In general, you're suppose to disconnect the battery when working around wires.
It was the negative (ground ) connection. Removing it from the battery produces an incomplete or open circuit. Electricity cannot flow in an open circuit. Thus this allows one to safely perform work on the ignition switch without risk of electric shock to you or risk of electrical damage to to the car's electrical system.
No starting, would just make a whirring sound. Had to force the key to get it started. Now starts as soon as you turn the key to the start position. I should of record a before and after. Next time...

We turned it on and off several times and started every time and I've driven all the way back to Salisbury North Carolina but I have not turn the ignition off on the trip.
Question for people who own these models. Does it seem like they are junk and if somthing can break it will? Doesn’t start, Sunroof won’t close, major oil leak, ac compressor relay stays on killing the battery, part of the movement of the seat doesn’t work anymore the whole car is 12 years old 😂

No that's an issue on its own. Check the fan blower resistor and the blower itself.
When you change the ignition switch, should you key keep working or youll need to buy a key that fits the replacement part?
If you just change this swithc no the whole assembly yes

The engine wouldn't start, you have to try multiple times with the key and then it would start.

If it’s the traditional key system to start and not the push button, then maybe this is your problem.

Your ignition cylinder needs to be replaced.
My 04 civic lx won’t turn over I have power everything works should I change out the ignition switch first? I hope this is what’s causing my Issue.

AV Jeeper starting issues when turning the key. Would do nothing and you would have to force the key to get it to start.

This is easy! Try doing it on 2007 Fit without lowering the steering column! (the 90 degree bent screwdriver is useless!)

Tried this and now my key won't turn and even when I take my key out it thinks it's in. (When I open my door it goes mad)
