I got a quote for over $700 to replace the started and that motivated me to keep troubleshooting myself first. Thanks for the great video, I think this is my issue.
Thanks for the video! I was able to replace my ignition switch in about 20 minutes after I disconnected the negative cable on the battery. I'm usually good at taking things apart, but not so good at putting them back together...but thanks to your video I got everything back together no problem, and my CRV starts every time now. Much appreciated!!
Thanks to your excellent tutorial, I had my starter switch changed out in about 30 minutes last evening. The hardest part was contorting myself between the seat and steering column and positioning the screwdrivers at EXACTLY right the angles to remove the clamshell screws. Now my CRV starts every time with no buzzes, and I today I stopped holding my breath every time I turn the key that it would fire off. I did vary just a bit and use a genuine Honda switch.
I used your video to help me with this problem I had with my Element. I followed exactly what you did and it worked like a charm. I just want to thank you so much for your help! You saved me $150 or so.
You saved me some serious headache and moolah! I was able to do the install, at night, following along with your instructions. I hit one snag. When I installed the new switch i must have inadvertently turned the ignition cylinder as I wriggled and pushed the part into place. This completely froze the ignition cylinder to the point that the key would not turn (not even a bit) when everything was put back together. As a result I removed the part from the cylinder again and adjusted the small slot in the middle of the switch that the small metal part of the cylinder fits into. Kinda hard to explain. But anyway, when doing this repair the switch should slide into place without much pressure. If it doesn't, try rotating the switch a little bit clockwise until it does. 👍🏿
$35 part and abt an hour of time. Had the exact noise. Awesome video. 5 screws that's it. Hardest part was the last 2 screws but a small Philips did the job. Perseverance wins the day. Just gave u a subscribe and thumbs up bro. U deserve it. Saved me $$$.
I just two days ago watched the videos on this and pulled my daughter's apart. Some worn burnt contacts. I gave them a good cleaning and new lube and reinstalled it. It works great now. I may change it later, but it was a pretty quick fix.
Thanks! My son's 2011 CR-V has been acting up for a few months now. I thought it was the starter, (which is a real bear to replace) but his is doing the exact same thing as yours. I ordered a new part for $50. Will install tomorrow.
Thank you so much mate. Your video is extreamly helpfull. It saved me a lot of money and avoided all the bullsh... from mechanics like .... oh you need to replace starter motor, maybe replace the battery,.. etc...
Thank you so much for your video. I was really afraid and worried about how difficult and costly replacing the switch would be. I'm m going to give it a try!
Thank you!! Your video fixed my problem. I had the exact same problem with the ignition switch buzzing so I ordered the part you recommended from Amazon. Hardest part was removing those small screws holding the component. I almost gave up. I thought that I had stripped them.
Thanks for the video. On my father's 2016 there was one screw on the bottom and 2 up behind the steering wheel to get the column shell off. Had to turn wheel and do one at a time
Thank you very much for this video! I had the same problem and I thought I would need to replace the starter. I bought the exact same piece you used and I was able to replace it myself (with 0 experience at all lol). Saved me some stress and a couple hundred bucks. Thank you!!
Great video. Thanks. Before installing new switch look inside new switch to ensure new switch female side is in same position as old switch. If it is not take your key and turn it a bit. It will help with install so male end in steering column aligns properly with new switch.
Thanks for the great video Dlrship wants over 1000 to replace I am so greatful for your video U inspired me to do it myself I will keep u posted God Bless
Thank you for this awesome video. I ordered the same part from Amazon that u advised. Works perfectly, I couldn't have done it without you. Thanks to you, it cost me $50 instead of 1200 at dlrship. God Bless
The two small screws that hold the switch to the lock cylinder are phillips and the angle they are at is difficult to access and torque out. A small wratchet wrench with a phillips bit is your best bet .
Thank you so much for the video! I wanted to ask if it’s necessary to unplug the negative battery cable first before doing this if not then imma go right ahead and install mine too.
Your welcome Its recommended when workin on electronics but i didn't do it . Make sure everything is lined up and ur key can turn before putting it all back together
I have a video of what mine sounds like. Also, I think it’s the same thing as yours, but I can’t figure out how to upload it on here so you can hear it. We already change that starter, as well as the relay switch to the ignition and it’s still doing it!
Its recommended when replacing any electronics, but i didn't disconnect mine because i didnt hav my radio code to unlock the radio after reconnecting power
@@ADollarAndAWrench Thanks! BTW the radio code (sticker) it's on the side (left) of the glove box door, you can see it once you fully open the door compartment.
One more question, amazon sell these switches at different prices, I can see 2 of them at about 12 bucks and other at 36 bucks, would it make a difference or be ok with either?
Nice video. But I couldn't get the small screws out. I tried a number 2 and then a number 1 Phillips. Neither could get a grip. The point is bottoming out on the middle and the flutes are not engaging. I will have to grind off the tip of the screwdriver or bring it somewhere.
Hey is there any type of programming when putting the new ignition switch from Amazon because a few mechanics are saying the key will not work with another ignition switch unless they program it to the new switch
Thank you. Lock Smith wants to charge $1000 Machanic wants to charge $1700 My key does not turn in ignition , Steering wheel is also locked. Do I need new cylinder and is my key not in sync with computer?
Hi could the issue possibly be the same if i turn the key and hear nothing? No noise no buzzing and no crank. Everything has power and ive teeted another relay for the starter and nothing worked. I am able to jump start the vehicle through the cable coming off the starter nesr the battery. 2007 crv. Thanks for any help!
@@ADollarAndAWrench thanks for the quick response. Amazon has been pretty slow lately so Im probably just going to AutoZone tomorrow morning. I tested everything else I know of so hopefully this fixes it. I'll update. Thanks for the help
did this with my 2005 odyssey and key wouldn’t turn. i tried the old ignition switch and still wouldn’t work. put the new one back in and accidentally locked the steering wheel. anyone know what to do
@@ADollarAndAWrench yeah i’ve been trying that for days and it won’t work which i think kinda makes sense seeing the key wouldn’t turn before the wheel got locked

yes before the ignition switch was replaced was making a buzzing noise on the ignition key
