Like the mail service, there are two services. Residential and business.
Business, you’re literally sitting in your rig most of the day while you’re running your route.
Residential, I’ve seen plenty of stories where toddlers are out every trash day to see the cool big trash truck, and that is the highlight of every trash truck workers day. I mean, there isn’t much that rivals the sheer excited innocence of a 3 year old.
A friend of mine used to be a trash collector, and he said the best part of his day was one particular street that had several families with little kids. They'd all come out every friday when the trash truck came by, and he said it was so fun to see a gaggle of little kids following along on the sidewalk ooh'ing and ahh'ing at the trash truck with one amused adult shepherding them. He'd wave at them, they'd happily wave back, ask him questions, etc. :)
I'm 44 and still enjoy seeing a garbage truck in action. They are very well engineered machines, and it's a joy to see a complicated machine do it's job.

@@darkfoxxbunyip Unfortunately the commie lady will never be able to understand this sentiment, because people like her don't understand the joy of family, the joy of hard work, or even the joy of complex machinery, since they probably see it as exploitative because all parts aren't doing equally stressful laborr.

9:20, man's got the Dylan Mulvaney smile. What's with people with a mouth that can swallow a fire hydrant and the unbearable need to be condescending?
That first one is bad because it's nothing but gish-gallop to dance around trying to distract with a flurry of nothing to get to the point where she essentially says "No one wants to be in waste management because of profits" which isn't really an answer. In communism there are no profits so there is literally no incentive in communism for someone to be a waste management worker without additional incentives, this would that exaggerate as due to Marx' economic determinism this would lead the next wave of bourgeoises to be garbagemen.
There are still no incentives to be garbagemen in communism.
In socialism there is a bit more wiggle room but socialism has this tendency to never grow as the new capitalists of the companies you have mandated to be owned by the workers are incentivized to NEVER expand and hire more people, as these new people will be less experienced and capable and impact the profits of the company and the lives of the current workers.
So in socialism the state will inevitably mandate and set quotas on job hiring in every level of the market
The incentive is gold, or the incentive is the whip. Capitalism generally favors gold. Socialism often has to resort to the whip having squandered the gold.
I think she got rejected by a garbage guy because of her hair color. That's why she's bitter.
Yeah I’ve never understood that about the whole worker coop thing. Everyone has equal rights to “the profits” so the 25 year vet makes just as much as the 2 year hire? And if you hire even one more person you have to cut everyone’s wages to pay the new guy, so why hire new people?
Those who promote collectivism misunderstand human nature, and/or are misanthropes. There is no other explanation and certainly no justification. As soon as someone starts talking about co-ops, that's all you need to hear.
The worst part is that individualist societies are *perfectly fine with consenting individuals starting a collectivist enclave within them*. The U.S, el diablo in the collectivist's eyes has a long and storied tradition of starting communes and worker cooperatives, with many still in operation today. They don't want for people to willingly form cooperatives, we already do that, they want to force the system onto everybody, because they subconsciously know most people don't want to live under a collective.

I mean you can set it up so that majority +1 can push through changes. I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with worker co-ops, and I personally think that having a personal stake in the company makes people more conscientious workers- but it's pretty hard to get capital to set up a co-op, because people don't want to invest in a company that they won't end up with any stake in.

@@adamperdue3178 Okay. Something I can't stand is seeing people keep saying things along the lines of bosses forcing their workers to do something they don't like.
No one is forcing their workers to do things they don't want to do. They agreed to do this work when they took the job in the first place. They agreed to do it for the amount of money determined when they were hired. This is not forced; it was an agreement.
And if their boss tries to get them to do work outside of their domain and what was agreed upon when they were hired, they can either raise an objection, renegotiate their terms of employment, start/join a union or they can quit. People really need to stop implying that business owners are going around looking for poor innocent victims on the street they can force into working for them.

There have been cyborgs loooong before Zoey Quinn, depending on your definition. I mean that colorblind guy with the Antenna on his head Neil Harbisson is the world's first legally recognized cyborg but depending on your definition, anyone with hearing implants could be considered a cyborg.
Eventually I’ll lose the vision in one of my eyes due to eye disease and have a telescope implanted in it. It’s like cyberpunk.
TikTok loves coming to black pill Dev.
That teacher was actually cosplaying as the girl from "A Bad Case of the Stripes", a very popular kids book that tries to convince kids to eat their veggies.
10:25 A magnet? I'm sure that she won't forget about that anytime in the future if she happens to need an MRI scan.
jeez these bots
Sorry
Welcome to the internet
POV malevelon creek
@@casualcrusader1547 personally i was an ustota guy
there were only like 400 of us tryna hold it and I was sprinting through missions solo haha
6:37 that doesn't look like a game thing, that just looks like something to help you keep track of where you have and haven't vacuumed.
I barely know anything about economy, wages, and all that, but I'm pretty sure you barely need to know anything about it to understand that people don't do dirty jobs because they just really love doing dirty jobs. I couldn't imagine many people would want to work with sewage if the pay was nothing.
Yep. Every single communist thinks SOMEONE will do it out of responsibility for the community. Of course not THEMSELVES though. They'll be a video game streamer, artist, model, or any other such prestigious position 😂
My father worked streets and sanitation, at the height of his career he was making around 80,000 a year with great benefits and a pension. Wasn't the easiest nor the most glamorous but it was very consistent with good job security.
When it comes to tech I'm already paranoid about having anything being able to read my info with a touch, having that be installed in my body makes me uncomfortable.
I'm an engineer so that makes me naturally technophobic.
How long until someone bring in a severed hand to buy stuff from walmart?
that or just one very strong magnet/device that can fry the chip
Does this lady think garbage collection is a profit business? These things are typically subsidized heavily or outright provided by the state, with tax dollars. What, does she think the garbage men go and sell the detritus at a flea market? Does she think recycling kickbacks run the entire waste-management system?
Does she comprehend the concept of a sewer???
I'm with you, Dev. If wanting to better my health & lose weight, then I don't give a damn if that makes me "fatphobic" & I will wear that with PRIDE on my ever-shrinking clothing sizes. These idiots keep me motivated to continue my diet & exercise.
After nearly two decades in teaching, garbage collection seems like a decent career change.
Trash men in my city make like 95 k a year full benefits all holidays off and weekends off. I wish I could get in on the job but you need to know people.
If communism is so good where’s communism 2?
Why do 2 when 1 has never been tried? Trust me, none of these past regimes were the real thing. I would know. I read 2 pages of the manifesto, and my college professor also told me so. Just wait - we'll get it right next time, then we'll have our glorious utopia.
first girl clearly has no idea about hazard pay
In Germany being in the garbage industry is a really well payed job. As soon as a position opens its usually gone within 3 days.
It's not a chip in her skin. It's an Amazon store with a hand scanner. The old video with the Asian girl talking about her chip for all her stuff was also a skit.
31 seconds no views you fell off
"0.0001 seconds no views no way he fell off frfr"
The bureaucracy of the system that woman proposes would be a nightmare since deadlocks would be more prevalent due to everyone having an ENFORCED equal stake especially one for a public service like garbage collecting. Most people really do just want to get paid and go home. Worker co-ops isn't really all that universally applicable to all careers and I say that as a Distributist.
The lady at Whole Foods is using the new Amazon palm payment system. There's no implanted chip, it's just biometrics.
Spooky
5:55 Uncle Joey feels surprisingly accurate because he looks a lot like Joe Gatto
If someone else wants to join in the garbage worker co-op you will have to pay a watering down fee to all the current workers, as they will lose out on the split of the profits.
The whole foods checkout was with palm recognition. No chip implant at all. It's a glorified fingerprint scanner.
That "I put crack in their hot dogs" guy made me die of laughter.
All respect to the garbage collectors. Literally makes the world go around, remember when they striked and garbage piled up where I live and after the strike people were literally cheering on them that they were back.
It's not a chip, it's a palm scanner. We've already progressed past needing hardware.
There are rural areas in the US where there is not garbage service. Most of the people that live in those areas either buy a dumpster and take it once a month themselves, or have a burn barrel/pit.
Say you have a co-op of 10 employees. Profits are split equally where everyone gets 10% of the profits...the problem is, like every other company, you'll have 2-3 go getters that come in early and stay late working. You'll also have 2-3 grifters that do little work, putting any effort into making it look like they do more than they really do. That leaves about half the team doing the bare minimum just to earn a paycheck. How in the hell is it fair that the profits are split equally?
I remember some feel-good human interest story about some little kid who was just so stoked on his birthday. He loved seeing the garbage truck and wanted to be a garbage collector when he grew up, and so for his birthday the garbage men came by with a big toy garbage truck for him.
Story lives rent free in my head, I'd never evict it. Always makes me happy, and hope that kid grew up happy, even if his dreams ended up changing.
Many service jobs tend to start off as smaller one-man operations. Maybe not garbage man, but a lot of the other things society values. They often do this because the entry level isn't too high, there is a market for their service, and it pays their bills.
Then, over time they grow into bigger and bigger companies.
"Literally nobody is saying that."
-proceeds to say exactly that
Did she just say garbage collectors aren’t well-compensated under capitalism? A friend of mine makes $68,000 doing that, which in Rust Belt PA is a good chunk of change.
"Follow fat liberation creators and unlearn your fat phobia." Lol, I would but they keep dropping like flies in their thirties. 🤷♂
The lady using the hand reader doesn't have a chip. It reads the palm print.
9:57 If I remember correctly this girl (could have been someone else) got this chip and was supporting the whole idea for the Australia Government. But then she made a video where she was getting health side effects or started talking about how it was a bad idea, and then the government shut her down and she could no longer pay for anything with it, locking her out of everything.
I never cease to be amused by the boneheaded music track Dev always plays in the background.
