Let's Model GAME ASSETS (part 1) in 10 MINUTES - Blender 2.9 - Ep. 41
Вставка
- Опубліковано 30 вер 2020
- Hello everyone! This is the 10 Minute Modeling Challenge but this is the start of a little mini-series for a few episodes. I model game environment objects for 10 minutes and in the bonus material I also import those assets into Unity 2020.1 and begin to make a game. The miniseries may span 3-5 episodes within 10 Minute Modeling Challenge and next week I'll add a hero, then enemies, and other elements. I'll animate and implement those into the game in the bonus material each week. I expect the episodes to be about 30-45 minutes long each :)

Additional info:
I've been modeling in Blender since about 2015 but more recently in the past couple of years. I've been making games and assets in Unity since 2011 and I'm currently working on a multiplayer RTS game that I'll be happy to announce later this year.
I use a Canon Lumix GH5 camera to record my videos with the Olympus 17mm F1.2 lens as well as the Laowa F2.0 7.5mm compact dreamer lens. Sometimes I also use a GoPro Hero 8, a Insta360 One X and a Sony rx100 mark vii. For audio I use a Rode NTG shotgun microphone connected to a RME Fireface UFX II sound card.
Thanks a lot for watching and sharing my videos :)
I bet this guy in his sleep: "E to extrude, S to scale"
Yes and G to Grab also
Don't forget K to knife
this is happening to me for the last 3 days because I am learning blender full time
That palette trick with the UV's scaled to 0 is really awesome for getting stuff look nice and it is so superfast. Immediately adapted ;D
I got that trick a while back from holistic3d
@@ashenx2619 Can you give me the timestamp?
Excuse me for the question: how did you make a pallette and attached it as shown in this video? Thanks in advance.
Likewise. I've been using it ever since seeing it from imphenzia😂😂
@@TimurKOIGo to shading, add image textute, set the palette as the image, voila.
I'm just here to add algorithm juice, this guy deserves it!
i learn more from him than the famous guy with donut.
Now you made me do it too
Sweet sweet algorithm juice!
Brilliant! Your tutorials that cross over to Unity are my favourites. However, all you videos are highly watchable, informative and interesting. Keep doing what you're doing!
Yes!! This is what I've been waiting for. I've been getting into blender over the last few months and am gradually working my way into unity now. Your videos have been super helpful!
I loved the new format. Had Blender open while watching, super useful when you call out your keystrokes because more than a few times it's saved me! Keep up the good work, dude.
Totally into this type of series!
I am really thankful people like u are out there to help newbies like me , you are just awesome at explaining stuff 🥺
The black UI is free for everyone now :)
2019.4+ I think. Switched to that since it is LTS
Finally! :D
For people who often sit in the dark its way better on the eyes :D
@@somethingsomething7507 hm.. i think yes. i've made dark mode in browser too. white bright is disturbing me. so i sit in my dark cave and turn on the color lights. possibly Your noticed that good thinks coming after the sunset. when all (fools) asleep
@@somethingsomething7507 Not that simple - according to his

And ... dark mode seems a bit hyped - at least to me - but might try it out
I am all for this series!!!
I'm very new to blender and just completed creating a room with some of my own creations and some of imported assets. Watching you makes me feel confident that hopefully with time I'll also be able to create amazing low poly assets for mobile games! Thanks for the tutorials!
My man you deserve a lot more subscribers. Quality of your videos is amazing. Just keep the work!
Been loving your videos for months now, just want to say: Thank you so much. Tomorrow, I'm competing in the 24 hour animation contest. I am as nervous as I was last year doing it, but I am very thankful for your channel, and these 10 minute modeling challenges. The fundamental skills that I have learned through them will help so much with the competition tomorrow. Once again, thank you!
Yesss. Exactly what I've been asking for!
Thank you
Excellent content I learned so much sprinting along with you. Thanks!!
I really enjoyed this episode. Thank you.
Amazing videos, thanks for making these. Keep it up!
Thank you so much for your channel! I worked on your video, repeated every step and I managed to create 3D assets just like in your video. Everything is working! I have not been able to do this for many years, thanks to your approach, I finally succeeded! I am immensely grateful to you and your work!
I'm actually learn the whole workflow !!!!
😍
Love your videos! So incredibly helpful. Keep up the great work!
Amazing, this is just what I needed.
Great video like all of your videos, cannot get enough of the content. Keep up the good work
How good your tutorials are man, thank you!
I'm so glad I found you at 4 in the morning O.o I feel my skills already getting better!
Your videos are really great and helpful! I love them! You are best at your work!
You are getting better and better!!!
Because of this guy, my lockdown is going to be epic!
11 props in 10 min.. This is exactly why i subscribed here. Thank you.
With you, i was able to model something, and it was fun.
Then i got to rig stuff... And i wad epic...
Then i see you, and i'm realising i finaly understand 100% of what you say, after 6 months...
Thank you to switch a bit more on game stuff with how to actually use that stuff. You explain all the details (don't hesitate to make some off side detailed videos if you think it's cool enough :p ).
Please, pleaaaaase, do more of this kind, create simple stuff and how to import with all the thinking and details behind each click and function and how and why it's working like this.
This, is my fav video of intro to game import so far. Thank you again.
This will be fun to follow,, keep up the nice work!
Yes this was a great idea. I love your videos.
A very nice tutorial. Thank you!
This is amazing like all other vids. Thanks!
Great idea by whomever suggested it!
You are soo good i think you are one of the best blender youtuber heres why
You give times in you vid titles so i dont get unmotivated i think like its soo short i cant really watch 30 40 mina tutorials
And you have really good concept
You are always a funny person
And your channel name sounds soooo good
Great video, my favorite youtuber for learning Blender
The patreon guy is right. I'll watch them all!
Amazing videos, congrats!
This series is soooo cool. I like it so much. Please keep on doin these 10 Minutes challanges. Greets from Germany.
I love the facecam and extra content. Please continue working on the game this is so cool and I'm interested in the process of making a game.
These videos are so awesome
Good and inspiring stuff! Nice work =)
Impressive ❤😮
I like this series.
When resetting the transform of an object in Unity you could just right-click the component in Inspector and select reset instead of typing all the zero's :).
You’re quite unique in your presentations.. not to mention funny. Keep it up! My son and I are quite interested in this series as we are just learning a little bit of both blender and unity... so, the full process blender->unity would clear out some of the inherent mystery.

Hey all! if anyone is curious, you can expand a wondow to fullscreen by hovering your mouse cursor over your window of choice and press CTRL + Space. Pressing them again will return you to your standard workspace. Great vid dude, cheers for the great content.
Thx for subtitles
Thank You for giving Such Great Tutorials for bonus Hope you get to 1 M soon.
"Gotta do another episode if we need more models " that's so cool haha
Great series, can't wait for the next parts! Could you please show us in one of the upcoming parts how you did the brick vertex shader in your robot game? I'm talking about that shader that gives that nice tactile and satisfying look where all the bricks are moved slightly when you shot them. I'm desperately trying to rip it off but without success :)
Love your videos Imph, got some prop suggestions for you for next ep. Whether you use the list or not, look forward to the next episode!
- Entrance Door/Portal
- Exit Door/Portal
- Power Up Item (one or two maximum)
- Cloud Blocks
- Wood Rope Bridge
- Falling Boulder
- Spike Block (wood or metal)
- Ice Block
- Winch? (like a rotating arm to hold platforms that move in circles)
Your a Legend.
Hahahaah dude you're way to awesome 😂 *"That was a bit overenergetic!"*
If you create a Textures folder and copy the color pallet inside, the materials are automatically assigned to the individual objects. I stumbled upon it when you said that you should have done that to begin with. Thanks by the tutorial btw.
Wow amazing
Awesome tutorials, man.. simple, fun, engaging, and very useful for just starting with blender & unity. I got my son (12) to follow your tutorials (just starting to learn blender & unity) and he’s having a blast. I do have to help him a little bit here and there, but otherwise he’s managing to follow your tutorial pretty easily. One suggestion I wanted to make in this regards though: when my son gets stuck following your videos is typically because of a few things that you had omitted in your videos: like, the bool tools add-on, or loop tools add-on etc which you perhaps installed a while back in your earlier videos and forgot about them, then use them in later videos without mentioning that these tools don’t come installed with blender out of the box. Or if you’re using features only available on newer version of Blender etc. My son doesn’t follow the videos in the order you released them necessarily, so when he follows the ones later in your chronological sequence he may come across some features that you don’t cover in a video that perhaps were covered in earlier videos (like what add-ons you have installed or how to setup the color swatch material etc). Perhaps if you could make a video specifically about how to get your setup ready (colors, add-ons etc) and then mention that video at the beginning of every new video, it would help the beginners who otherwise may get stuck, not knowing why a certain key combination doesn't do what your particular key combination does etc). You may even add a section in the video description itemizing the concepts you’d need to know or the setup you have to have in order to be able to follow a given video. Once again, you're doing a great job! Keep going!
The UA-cam algorithm knows what I’m thinking once again
U r Really Really Awesome
When you see an expert do it quickly it seems so easy, but then my own models never come out as good even with way more time. It's really impressive, and I really need to practice more.
How is your progress so far? :)
really like your videos! keep going, i wll absolutly comeback on next week :D
So many asstes in just 10 mins. Nice
Oh no i came to late, and live is end now, i forgot. I have come to the beginning.. but of the end ;) But well, I can still watch. Btw, great job, and thanks for your work Imphenzia, you are one of the first from which i get so much inspiration and sometimes new information/tips.
I just found ur Chanel I love it
Thank you
I really like the look of your models inside blender, with the highlights along the edges. It really makes the low-poly look pop. Is there a way to achieve a similar look in Unity using shadergraph?
Nice beginning. I was eating when i started to watch this video. I could choke to death but it didn't happened, so maybe next time.
great got to make it
Probably got into fullscreen mode by pressing ctrl spacebar while hovering that area!
This is a great idea. Looking forward to Episode The-Ultimate-Answer-To-The-Ultimate-Question-of-Life-The-Universe-And-Everything (aka 42).
Спасибо папаша,
Palette is awesome
Thanks
Another point pro .fbx and anti .blend: You need Blender installed to import .blend files.
Damn I really should watch these videos more
Hi Imphenzia, Great Job on the video series I am really enjoying them. What do you think about making this a little fantasy style maybe adding goblins and spiders as enemies and a sword wielding hero that has to destroy them. Looking forward for your next episode! :D
I was in the process of learning Unity a few years ago, and was starting to get pretty good at it. I got into Blender to make Unity assets, but I found it so fascinating that I never went back. Now a lot of what you were saying was familiar to me ("prefabs," "SerializedField," etc.), though I have very little memory of what most of it means.
Maybe some day I'll return to game programming, I don't know. Right now I'm still enjoying Blender too much.
How to stop a player by the second there's no input?
plz help me !!
You had also faced the problem someday..
Amen
How many of you like the magical sentence " E to extrude and S to scale " in this series. 👇👇👇
But we missed it in this videoooo..... 🙁 😫😫 😩😩 😭😭😭
😀😀😀😃😃
Hi rly nice stuff. I will follow this serie cuz i m learning to make game myself. But i want to know if there is a way to get the same "rendering" or material you have on the blender asset into unity. Because i rly love the color on the edge. But i dont know if there is a way to recreate this with shader graph and if yes the performance cost. Thanks for sharing this knowledge.
how do i set up that pallet on the right , and iknstantly applying it to the model?
Great stuff - thanks! I'm having trouble with shift ctrl v working with mirror applied or not. Not sure why it doesn't work --- all the iwebs is on about 2.8
Can you put a chest and gem. Chest will be the bonus point and the gem will be in inside the chest....you can put 10 or 5 gems in the chest,..... And you can put the chest in the end of a game stage or in the end of the game
jajaja 21:39 "I watch you" jajaja
More subscribers are needed.
Haha, Spaghetti machines, Love it.
i love you 💕❤
How do you separate the tree from the block? Whenever I figure out how to separate segments and make them into their own objects, I will be unreasonably happy about it. I never thought making games would be more fun than playing games.
Hi, when you move the coin using coding, is better that animated in blender or other program?
maybe you could do a 2 part video, model 3 characters in the 1st (ready for animating). and then animate all 3 (walk, run, jump, attack) in the 2nd.
OR
just try and create 1 character with walk run jump attack animations in the one video :O
I watched the other video of yours about an infinite platformer. do you make the platforms to have a perfect fit to 2 units wide? or u just keep it random and let them overlap each other on the sides?
Hi, thanks for your video, is render engine matter for FBX exporting?? which one must use?
Fyi, Unity dark mode is free now, so you don't need to pay for that.
Maybe do some bad guys, a jumping pad/trampoline, a cannon... Some Ladders?
Maybe a bird you can fly on to get to the flying city portion of the game, and a dolphin you can ride on to get to the underwater zone!? 😉
(Edit: and I guess some clouds and water..., maybe lava too?)
(Edit2: maybe a doorway and a small house to go inside and explore.)
Hey! I know this video is older but, i believe they changed the "base map" to "Albedo Map" but when i try to use the color palette on a material and put it on the object its discolored and i cant figure out why... sorry if you covered it in a newer video but i havent seen you mention it yet...
You are a beast! I wonder if you have any Game creation course with Unity/Blender to buy?. Greetings!
when you learn that combination you will easy modeling :)
Hi, great content again! Just wondering where I can find that twitch stream link in the description though?
Found it btw. Easy enough: www.twitch.tv/imphenzia
hey love the video, i was wondering what and how is that color palet thing you do at the 4:33 mark? thanks in advance
ua-cam.com/video/BlxiCd0Upg4/v-deo.html, just saa this now thanks :)
All hail E to extrude and S to scale .
You know, you need to model that TOY and make some sort of game out of it. ;)
If you are designing your rocks, then you use proportional editing to make it have a irregular shape, but if you do that, then the quads you started with are distorded in a way that the quad changes in 2 non-coplanar triangles with of course shading artifacts. Is there a way to propertionally edit this while keeping it a quad or while keeping the 2 triangles of the quad coplanar ?
That's a good question. I know afterwards you can go back and flatten the quads, but being able to not get bad quads in the first place would be nice.
Great video! Is there a way to keep the shiny edges that you have in blender when you transfer over to Unity? I think they aesthetic of the shiny edges is very nice and it's a shame to lose it.
I've been banging my head at trying to do this the past 2 weeks - and despite looking through most videos I can't find anything..
@@theshiftybloke4672 ah, that's a shame! I also haven't found a way yet either..
