I swear every time i watch a "pro player" win in a catan tournament or something, its because noone takes the initial spots that they dream of, noone tries to ruin their game and everyone trades with them. Its always the other 3 fighting each other and they get a relatively easy win... What is the explanation to that?
8-5-4 allways. Lock out all the weat, second best ore and decent brick. 8-4-3 is intrinsicly weaker and with another player on the 8, it gets hard blocked, especially since you are likely playing ows game. 8-5-10 has the same problem as mentioned before and it puts you on a road or full build game with little extra weat as it will be blocked constantly. The only "redeaming" part of it is that your hand will likely be swamped with garbage constantly, making you the lesser target for robbing on the 8.
For the 5-8-10 though I do see a world where you take the 9-6-2 and maybe with a solid 4 strong resources you can maybe settlement on a port and port for wheat. I still believe however that 8-5-4 is best because you can definitely get sheep or wood on the way back. Even if you only get one of them the other is in high supply.
i cant follow the logic at the end with the wheat. if opponent takes 5-8-10 or 8-4-3 on the upper right side I still have even better open spots on the 8 wheat. no?
@@IIIVIIIIVIII I think a single tile space on the placement is almost always a bad idea. In this case, it makes your set-up very blockable and because you only start with a single valuable wheat, you're probably getting hit with the first rob if anyone rolls 7 early. Early access to 3:1 port won't offset the low production a 5 pip spot offers.
8-4-5 controls the wheat better because it blocks the 8-5-10 and 8-3-4. Someone will probably take the 8-10 with 3:1 port but you'll be able to take more trades than them with a better set-up and more options available to you.
Any catan strategy sounds good until the dice just won't roll your numbers.

FYI I cannot see the ports on the right and left hand sides
But... you don't always win Catan...

has to be 4/5/8 point right to pick up the 4/3 expansion. It's the only strong wheat on the board.

if opponent takes both 5-8-10 and 8-4-3 with the wheat, there d be only the single field 8 🌾 spot on the port, but still wheat and 3:1 port.

I also like the 8-4-3 to control wheat and make favorable trades.

If i was the first. Honestly i would go for 5-8-10 to kill other spots aswell
You English is fine. No subtitles needed.
yes, but most people (who speak perfect english) do this for more clarity, and deaf people.
I didn’t see the cheat code
easy pick.
