- The Honda Civic Type R EP3 has no longer got holes on the underside that shouldn’t be there. Full rear arch replacement and sill repairs have been done and then the car has had a full coating of rust encapsulator and seam sealer. Now it is time to add the final coat which is the Under Seal itself.

Olly is back at Motion Motorsport once again to see the progress that has been made. After leaving the car as a bare shell underneath, it was time for the repairs to take place. The rear arches have been fabricated with all new metal as well as the small sill repairs and floorpan piece. The whole underside then received a a couple of coats of rust encapsulator and seam sealer to prevent any other rust from growing in the future. Now comes the main protective layer, the under seal! The car gets masked up and bagged to prevent any overspray on the car whilst the black under seal gets applied to the bottom of the EP3 Type R.

It's nice to see the actual process with some great shots of the detail. My JDM has been down there for a couple weeks now waiting for an underseal. The level they go to is unreal! Great videos mate.
Thanks man! Ah, yes! I saw yours in there too! At least you can see the process for your car with these videos too!
I can imagine this is a very expensive process but fair play I'd love to do the same to mine! 👍
Yeah, it is expensive but so worth it in the long term
how much would i be looking at? thinking of doing same for mine
@@OllyRoss
How much expensive?
I enquired about getting this done and it is dependent on what repair work needs to be done and if you want all zinc plated bolts. They would have to have a look at your car and see what works need doing. They quoted me around £4000/4500.
Looking to take mine to Motion next year pal to get this exact work done so massively appeciate the video and the transparency of it all, nice one! Looking forward to the next parts
Nice one! No worries! I thought it would be useful for anyone wanting to know exactly what goes into it!
Quality vid, really good to see the whole process and not just slap some under seal on! 👍 car looks mint!
Thanks man! Yeah, that was the point of this series to be honest!
Waw amazing Olly, I'm rather envious at the work that's been done on your car. Glad for you dude, have a great new year 👍🏻
Appreciate it! It’s pretty crazy as I’m so used to it seeing it on other peoples cars! Haha
@@OllyRoss there's not many EP3's like yours dude, enjoy 👍🏻
Should look mint Wouldn’t go near an Ep3 unless it had this level of protection or any Honda more than 10 years unless it’s just a runabout
That’s what most buyers are going to be thinking in the next 5-10 years really
@@OllyRoss sadly would put me off as had to sell one already for this reason . Which is a shame as is such a good car.
What underseal is best to use?
I am not sure as Motion want to keep what they use to themselves as they have spent so long finding what works the best
Shame you don't have the underneath cosmic grey also. Done that with my satin silver ep3 on the rear arches.
Nah, I don’t think it would have looked right. I did think about it but black looks way better as a contrast in my opinion. The silver does make sense though 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
@OllyRoss yeah I know what you mean could be a bit to much grey maybe
How much did this cost? Wanting to do the same with mine
A minimum of £2500 the more they find if it needs extra work, the extra cost gets added, so I'd say 3500 to 4k for what he is having done.
I have a full price breakdown coming in Part 4!! 👀
I’m guessing it starts with a 5 😳. Worth it though, I’m very jealous 😂
Would be interesting to know what products they use . Have used rust converter before and am guessing the best encapsulater would be a zinc primer followed by a top coat . Could just be a good stone hip so 3 layers plus your cavity wax in cavities. Think a few companies have cavity wax products like dinitrol. Plus you additional seam sealer so much better than from factory . If you wanted to be anal then could put a lanoguard top coat to make it hydrophobic but would need redoing every year and cannot be used as a base layer for another coat. Really looks like a good and thorough job and well worth it.
The exact products they use is something they want to keep a secret as they have been working on finding the right ones for so long.
Redoing it every years sounds like an awful job! Haha
Great video about something that i doubt there is another video about, especially for EP3 :D
Thanks! That is why I decided to do this series! Just had to show the amount of high quality work that goes into something like this!
Clearly trying to not show what underseal they use
Got to keep some trade secrets! Haha
The secret sauce
Basically shutz the label don’t matter
Waxoly mix with old oil engine 👌
Raptor ....it's what they all use 😂
Great video again Olly! Like i was saying not many videos out there showing the whole process on an EP3! Superb content! 💯
Thanks man! I guess you never saw this when yours was done so it must be cool to see what yours went through too!
Bet that cost a couple of grand
It was a bit more than that! All will be revealed in Part 4!
@@OllyRoss wow buy another ep3 for that then 😂
@@markabbott6818 oh, absolutely! Another rusty one! Hahaha
Would powdercoat your crash bar at back aswell or treat in same way as a lot of moisture gets trapped in there behind the back bumper
Yeah man. It certainly does!
Looks crazy good, absolutely mint 👌
Such a massive transformation! And that’s before it all goes back together too!
What's the purpose of the bungs in the sills?
It is so you can get access I guess. They will go back in once the cavity wax goes in… (which you will see in the next episode)
Loving this series, satisfies my OCD brain 😂
It is very satisfying to watch no corners get cut! Haha
nutz!
Yeah! Big time!
Most underrated UA-camr!
You are too kind! Really appreciate that! 🙌🏻
congratulations 🎉
Thanks!
Excellent job
They really are doing great work!
Pretty sweet ride man
You should come for a ride some time!
