Thanks for your efforts Olly, we need more preventative maintenance videos like this please. We can see that it wasn't an easy video to film so good on you for being patient you're helping loads of us civic owners 👍
I've been doing this lately. I got nearly complete coverage with the brush on kurust. You just have to keep sticking your phone in the hole to recored your progress as its a totally blind job. The shorter the handle on the brush the better! I also got a waxoyl pressure washer with a bendy hose which was Ideal to get in the tight areas.
Thanks for showing me this. I have an EP4 which I've undersealed from beneath but never thought to look in those spaces. I'm gonna have a look this weekend.
Really appreciate that man! I’ve got some things in the works but COVID has screwed my income! I have some cool bits coming! Fingers crossed that yours isn’t too bad! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
A good brush-on rust converter that may have made this a little easier (had you not have had previous leftovers!) would be Vactan (a little goes a long way so its cost effective too. I've had good success on my ST wheel arches with it, and its easy to then painted over (I used black Hammerite), just for anyone else looking for a spray alternative. Great video, mine has been undersealed so I'm hoping this won't be a problem but I'lll look into this when it comes to a speaker upgrade. Thank you!
That’s only what you can see, trust me just restored my 30th Ep3 and there are many more areas hidden that are only fixed by a full chassis strip and restoration. If you have rust there that’s already gone too far in other areas. It’s sad but these care are rotting from the inside out get a camera inside your chassis legs. Strip the chassis back to bare metal re seam seal and protect properly. Strip the carpets out and plastics takes a few hours but you will know where you stand guys

Hi Olly, i found your video about rust in that place under rear speaker. So I want try fix it. And can't find "flexible extender " or something like that in Lithuania, can you write or link, which tool exsactly did you use with brush?
I purchased a flexi drill extension but the wire brushes are to big for it? Flexible Rotary Drill Tool Drive Flex Shaft Attachment 42" Extension for Dremel. Any ideas can you change the size of the head on the drive?
Hmmmm not sure on whether you can change the size of the head. It does seem like you have ordered one for a Dremel and not a Drill. Could that be the issue??
I’m gonna be getting an ep3 type r, always wanted one since I was little, am guessing all ep3’s have rust but just depends on how bad it is ? What am I looking for when I go view one, thank u
You are the same as me then! I wanted one for years too! So, yeah, pretty much all of them do have rust. The main points are the rear wheel arches behind the arch liners, behind the speakers, the sills along the bottom of the car and the boot where the spare wheel is. It's also worth checking the rear crash beam if you can.
Good job man, I’ve a week off work at the end of the month here and might have a crack at mine. I’ve saw people put underseal like wax oil down there as well, or is it better just using the zinc primer like you have? Maybe both, primer then wax oil?
