100g of flour, 100ml of milk (I used semi skimmed but up to you), and one egg. Whisk the absolute hell out of it until there's bubbles. Heat a frying pan and use a veg oil. Wipe the oil around the pan with a piece of kitchen towel. Use one ladle of pancake mix. Swirl it around the pan to make it really really thin. Keep in mind that the first pancake is always crap. The pancake should be bubbling up from the pan. Then attempt to flip. I use a spatula, I'm not brave enough to do the air flip, I'm not that coordinated. Fry until golden. Then turn onto a plate and drench with lemon juice and sprinkle liberally with sugar. The lemon juice should make it go soggy and the sugar will turn it into like a lemon syrup. Enjoy
If you’re worried about people coming after you on your TPN setup video, you could shut off the comments for that video. You probably already know that, just a friendly reminder! Love & hugs ❤️😊
That’s the purpose of the swirl, it is meant to keep the line from being accidentally pulled out, it pulls the swirl out instead of it being pulled out of your body
I’ve always been told to keep your line tucked in your shirt. Yes it is touching your skin, but you clean the line before every use so it’s going to be sterile. Plus, the risk of getting your line caught on something and pulling it out is much higher than the damage that can be done by having the line touching your skin.
She has been told to not keep it in her shirt, I also have a few friends that are in warmer climates that have been told not to keep it in there shirts also... Every hospital has there own way of doing it... Even in the city that I am in one clinic say I and the other says out.... I really hope this doesn't come off rude cause I'm not trying to be rude. I just know that she has said it so many times that she was told to keep it out and that's what she does...
Yeah central line policy varies from hospital to hospital! Generally everyone agrees that if you keep the ‘key parts’ clean and don’t touch them. I’d like to think most medical professionals know that policies are different and wouldn’t give you hate for it :)
250 g plain flour 1/4 teaspoon of salt 2 large eggs 500 ml milk Knob of butter for frying Caster sugar (for sprinkling) Fresh lemon (for squeezing) Method Prep:5min › Cook:15min › Ready in:20min Sift the flour and salt into a mixing bowl. Break the eggs into a bowl and then add to flour. Pour in half of the milk and whisk briskly. Add the remaining milk and whisk until the batter is smooth. Heat an 8 inch pan over a low heat. Add a small knob of butter and swirl the pan to coat the bottom. Use a ladel to spoon the pancake batter into the pan, then tilt the pan to spread the mixture out evenly. As it sets, shake the pan to see if the pancake is loose, then flip it over with a palette knife. Cook the other side for 30 seconds -then shake again to see if it's loose. Slide onto a warm plate, sprinkle over some sugar and a squeeze of lemon juice - then eat immediately! Cook the rest of the pancakes, one at a time but remember to melt a small knob of butter before adding the batter.
Everyone does things differently and are taught differently, but you have been on tpn a while now and haven’t had any problems (touch wood) so you’re obviously doing something right so don’t worry about people hun xxxxx
You are such a strong girl and absolutely stunning! I know those Hickman caths can be a pain but you are handling it super well and everyone has their own way of taking care of it and living life with a line coming out of one's chest (lol, gotta just add humor to the mix, as you do too). Your relationship reminds me a lot of my bf's and mine- laughing together makes everything a bit easier! I wish you nothing but the best
You really do help me a lot! I know sometimes videos like this may seem uselss to some people but i used to be terribly afraid of getting sick and i would feel alone and gross so when i started having stomach issues i was a wreck mentally but watching your videos remind me to stay strong and they show me im not gross and don't need to be embaressed and they show me that i will be ok, you have really helped my anxiety and you really give me strength. Idk where i would be mentaly without you.
I had a Hickman for so long and just a suggestion, always wash you hands and don't use cleanser, as well as scrub your line for 15 seconds. It will keep infection far away 😊
Try sand and sky scrub and clay mask. Done wonders for my skin. It's Australian pink clay you might have seen them on Instagram but it actually does make sure skin lovely. I'm always a bit sceptical of these things but it is actually good. Sorry long comment 🤣 much love to you lovely 💜
Honestly I can relate so much to you in having a feeding tube Ik you yours to have one and I also had a Hickman line basically I got cancer when I was 6 and I never ate for a year or so so I needed a tube and I had chemo so I needed a Hickman line and finally I got a bone marrow transplant when I was 12 and I’m now 14 and I’m completely cured and I’ve watched you for ages lyy hope you reply and maybe I can dm you on insta you seem super nice x
How’s the grass going? I’m over in Qld and we’ve had no rain recently so our yard looks like a desert. Your drawer of meds looks familiar 😂 I see a lot of the same meds I have in my own.
100g plain flour 2 eggs 300ml semi-skimmed milk 1 tbsp sunflower oil or vegetable, plus extra for frying pinch salt Put all wet ingrediants (milk first, then egg, then oil and salt) then add flour in parts to get rid of lumps
I make my pancakes using a cup of milk, flour and an egg. And then fry them in butter. By a cup a literally just mean a mug out of the cupboard. However I don't know if they are drainable xxx
Most of the time they recommend keeping the line out of your shirt, secured to your shirt with tape or a clip, and cover the end with an alcohol cap or tape an alcohol wipe over the end to keep it clean. Especially in the warmer months, bacteria and fungus like warm wet places, so if your hot and sweaty, you don’t want your line in your shirt. Hickman’s are tunneled lines, so if you feel right where the line goes into your chest, you will notice a little bulge. That is the cuff that scar tissue holds onto to keep the line in place. At this point it would take a pretty hard tug to pull it out, but you still need to keep it coiled and pinned up. I finagled a way to hold mine in place with a stat lock made for picc lines. I put it over the tegaderm cause my skin doesn’t like them. It’s just a little added protection 🤗 As for air, as long as there is no air in the bag when you hook it up, it can suck the bag dry and no air will get in the line.
Those pancake sound delicious, I live in the US, Florida to be exact I live near Cocoa Beach and hour east of Disney World. I’m going to give those pancake a try for sure.
Yikes, I am so glad your line didn't actually get pulled out. The title really worried me. When you were talking with Tom about if he would take over your UA-cam channel if you were no longer around, it made me happy and sad at the same time. I liked his response about getting loads of cats, though.
Have you tried replacing regular all purpose flour with cake flour? It's got less protein so baked goods come out more delicate and less chewy. (as opposed to bread flour that has more protein to make chewy bread) You could also try replacing 20g out of 100g of all purpose flour with cornstarch (so 80g flour 20g cornstarch) for a similar effect.
I have cystic fibrosis and have a feeding tube as well as a portacath, there’s nothing worse than people telling you you’re doing things “wrong” people should respect we are all given different advice, try not to worry about any bad comments! I always ignore people that try and give me “advice” on what I’m doing wrong haha
My granddaughter is a big Harry Potter fan too. I would love to get her those pajamas you got, but couldn't find them on line. Would you please tell me where you got them. Hope I can still get them. I live here in Michigan, USA
Lois Shockey It’s a Australian store - Peter Alexander. I believe they do post overseas. They have some great stuff & at times really good sales. Hope this helps.
UA-cam allows you to render 12k 60fps videos. 8k quality settings to be rolled out soon. 64k cameras exist but would more than a house at this point. I agree that I wouldn't want to watch myself above 1080p.

I am allergic to adhesives and have trouble with bandaids, tegaderm, silk tape.... What do you do if you get reactions to dressings that you have to have? Thanks!
I’m a nurse and we hang TPN and it’s not a sterile procedure. That’s so interesting to me! Also our Hickman lines have little caps (neon green) that have betadine in them so you put them on the tip of the line so it’s not open to air. Do you have anything like that? :)

I'm a bit scared I feel that my Ed's is getting worse I'm 14 and I was diagnosed @ 13 I'll be 15 next month and I think I'm developing pots I dont really know what to its worsening

Belgian tearoom pancake hack: use any and every pancake recipe, but use 1/3 sparkling water and 2/3 milk instead of 3/3 milk. They're lighter, fluffier, just as tasty (trust me) and probably easier for you to eat!! 😘
Have you looked on BBC good food website for pancake recipe I make them for my son not sure is they drain as I dont have your condition. I stumbled across your channel and have been watching ever since x

clairecheney substitute flour with rice flour
@@danamakesit4623 why, when it works perfectly fine with regular plain flour
clairecheney even if it works fine it may not be easily drainable unless the recipe you gave her already is then ignore my comment 😂
i love how it's common knowledge that the first pancake is naff and belongs in the bin
We need a 'Toms life' section on your videos 😂 give him the camera for a day and see how many things make him go hmmm during the day 😂😂
Definitely please amy lee fisher
Amy you are right, I am a ICU nurse you don’t need sterile gloves to do TPN. We us regular gloves. Patient at home can use they hands.
Yes that’s what I was told too!

Milk
Then add lemon juice and sugar they are the best!!
U dnt want thrm to rise so y use self raising flour
Put as much milk in them so it not thick and it doesn’t raise but they are the best pancakes ever and the are soft and delicious
Plus you don’t have to put self raising flour in it you can just put plain in it but that was how I make it
