This advice on how to make emotes is based on my personal preferences only. There are amazing emote artists who have completely different methods and styles and those are great! This is just how I personally design emotes.
You must be at least 13 years or older to watch any videos on this channel as per UA-cam and the FTC rules.

I'm not an artist, at all. Stick figures are my zone, but watching how you did the layers lines and coloring made me feel like I could make something like this. Yay
I feel like that all the time the end up making sticks again lol it takes practice
Step one
Learn how to draw
Hahah unfortunately yes that's a HUGE first step!
I was like.. how is he sketching that so good.. oh artistic talent.. something I lack!
Or learn how to photoshop/edit pictures very well😜😂
yeah i cant draw and i spent 3 hours working on one and it sucked so yeah
Step two
Have a lot of imagination
UA-cam needs a feature where we can redirect old videos to new ones. It would be great for tutorials like this.
Yes, I agree! There are so many tutorials for versions of software that's like 5+ years old. It would be great to have that option.
Fantastic explanation, even gave me some things to think about with my own emote work
Thanks! I learned a lot watching you make emotes on stream as well. I was surprised at how well you got a lot of details to read and it pushed me to grow. :)
Omg, this is so helpful! Emotes have felt intimidating, and now I want to try making my own
Awesome! I need you to make a cool gator emote lmao
probs gonna hire somone once i get emotes but dang this vid really caught my attention lol
you have such a chill voice :)
This was a simple and extremely useful video - thank you so much! I've been meaning to create some custom emotes for my stream and have been putting it off not knowing where to start. Spent some time creating them today, and I couldn't have done it without you!
this is so helpful, thank you!! i also appreciate the transparency w the ad, u feel like a very genuine creator!! your emotes are adorable!!
I just got my first commission for sub emotes and you have saved my butt tysm
sameee
How much would I ask for emotes commission?? Its a channel of aprox 70 viewers UwU
WHY WAS THIS IN MY RECOMMENDATIONS? This is amazing! 😍Love this tutorial & I would totally get these emotes even if I don't stream on Twitch haha. They are so cute & awesome.
This is the very first video I decided to watch to learn about creating an emote and it actually seems doable and not so intimidating. Thank you for the great tips!
this video is so useful and i love it! i was a little insecure abt starting to make twitch emotes but after this video i am more confident! thank you so much! :) 💚
Your emotes are so cool and expressive! Thanks for the tutorial (and it's great to see all the new emotes you've done!!)
Thank you so much! I didn't realize I had done that many! Lol
Literally amazing tutorial! and such a great run through on how you work, it's so honest and cool, as soon as i need some serious emotes, you better believe i'll be shooting you some work on fiverr or how ever, Thanks for the awesome help!
Best thing about being an artist and a gamer. Thanks for the tips I just recently got affiliated and needed help with ideas for my emotes I'm allowed to have!
So helpful! Been putting off my emotes for about two months, but this was an awesome explanation! Thank you!!
This is a good tutorial definitely worthy of being the first result.

UPDATE: Sorry, I'm not currently taking commissions!
Also, for clarity, none of my videos are for children under the age of 13, as per UA-cam and the FTC's rules about content made for children and advertising. (Plus you have to be 13+ to sign up for Twitch anyway.)

Jacey Chase are you willing to make some emotes for subs?
i rather hire you to do my designs.is that possible
I have been watching this video a couple of times now and I am kind of confused on your brush tool makes suck light line but when I do it the they turn out super thick when I’m doing the outline for the emote so if there is anyway you can tell me how your brush turns out make super light strokes that would be nice 👏😎
@@joshuaBMW are you using a mouse?
This is super helpful!
I've been curious to make some emotes for friends and this gave me some things to think about I hadn't considered before.
Really appreciate your insight! :D
Oh cool! I'm glad it's helpful. :)
Thanks for this video! Excited to start designing my own twitch emotes! 😁
Duuudee, Look at you all professional and stuff :D I didn't know you have a yt, but I'm glad to see you're doing well and I hope to catch some of your streams again! Thank you for the great tips as well!
Thank you thank you thank you, I LOVE YOU! Now I can make my emotes for my twitch channel. I’m so blessed, it’s the biggest edge I’ve had since my twitch affiliate is being severely delayed.
I never did emotes before. Ive had someone ask me to do emotes for him. He kinda explained what to do but I feel overwhelmed by it. Thank u for the video! It helped me
This is an amazing tutorial! I've been doing digital art for almost 20 years, and I just wanted a quick reference for setting up the file sizes. I ended up watching the whole video even after I got what I came for, and all your basic advice and tips are fantastic for beginners and pros alike. Quick and to the point with some great tips thrown in. A+ video, dude!
Same
Except for the 20 yrs part I've only been doing digital art for a year
Thank you very much for this video. I see it is 9 months ago - and i definitely wonder.
Wondering about the rarity of videos you make, tbh. You have an amazing voice AND tonation! You explain with fun, selfconfidence and enthusiasm - and this is what one can hear in your voice. In addition you make breaks at the right time. To actually say, what i want to say: do your vids further, pls. You are a great teacher - besides your art ;)
PS: Yes, there are many other tutorial vids out there. Most of them have good content - but its not only the content which matters; it matters how the content is transported as well. And this point... Most of the most vids just dont fulfill.
I LOVEEEEE the colored highlights!
Incredible video! Thank you for the clear explanations and great tips!
Drew for the first time in 10+ years and made my first emote! Thanks for the tips :D
Holy shit thank you that lock layer tip is clutch!! I can't believe I didn't know that all this time! So much time wasted but I'm ready to gain it back now! Thank you!
You're so nice and encouraging. I appreciate it so much, lol. Amazing art and advice.
Thank you so much! This is hands down the best guide out there!
Thanks! That means so much to me!
I was commissioned to do a emotes for a streamer. Thank you for all the advice!!!!
Thank you for the little tips in this video and the inspect twitch elements site, very excited to draw some emotes together for when I get affiliate!!
Great video Jacey, thanks for the pro-tips!
Thanks dude for the awesome video! I usually just draw IRL on paper and I’m not super confident on computers but this made me feel a lot better :)
Thanks a ton my dude you really helped me out with the emotes a friend of a friend of mine wanted me to make especially the part with making the outlines not black
Thank you for this. I just got my first commission but had no idea where to start.
Very helpful tutorial. Appreciate that you emphasize how to work to maintain readability when your artwork is reduced.
Wow, you have some really amazing tips! I learned a lot watching this!
I'm also an artist and I thought you did a great job with this video! I put it in my discord under Tip, Tricks & Tutorial.
wow thank you so so much for the tips!!
You make it look so easy! lol Thanks for this video. Not sure it will help me all that much, but it was awesome to watch you work!
super helpful for getting started, thank you!!
Something I like to do instead of having to zoom in and out to see how it looks at the different resolutions...
Create a new window at each of the sizes the icon will be shown in (in photoshop, this would be window > arrange > new window for.... and then just zoom to the right size), then have these alongside the window I'm actually drawing in.
THIS IS SOOO HELPFUL! THANK YOU!!!
Tried making my first emote using this tutorial, and it worked out pretty well for the first try, thanks a lot for this video!
Glad it helped!
Helpful and informative, especially on the colors!

Thanks homie! I really appreciated this tutorial! :)
Thanks this clip is so easy to understand and helpful
Super helpful tutorial!! Thank you❤️
Gonna save this vid to make my own on Photoshop awesome video
this is the best video for this! thank you so much!
Thanks for making this video! I've personally been struggling with trying to make the emote read well at it's smallest (currently I'm having to make the smallest be 18x18). I know it's hard to really get much out of something that small, but I always worry about it not looking just right.
Awesome, thank you for this video it's exactly what I was looking for, time to re-do some emotes! Also Dylan is awesome, fantastic viewing choice!
Wow - FABULOUS video. So informative thank you!!!
LOVED IT! SO HELPFUL!
Thank you so much!! That was so helpful ♥
THANK YOU FOR THIS. I've been using GIMP for my twitch overlays and trying to figure out how to do emotes. Gonna try out Krita cause it looks closer to photoshop than GIMP (I'm used to photoshop but no longer a college student so photoshop is no longer affordable :'D )
Hopefully I can get some emotes ready for when I get affiliate status with this info!
Fantastic tutorial, Jacey!
TuT Thank you Morgue!
