I was told non-stop for the past 2 years that Multistreaming was how you grow, and what I've learned is not only did it not help me grow, it actively made community building harder, and once again the truth is to actually grow you just need to make discoverable videos or tiktoks, that's it. As always, and as I say at the end of the video, try it for yourself, I hope it helps, but I'll likely never multistream again.

For the chat not being able to see each other across YT and Twitch, the Truffle chat tool has been wonderful. Still need viewers to download the extension (or download the mobile app) themselves, but they can see/chat cross-platform in their own chat view rather than using the stream overlay 👍

I’ve definitely gotten more positive than negative out of multistreaming, several dedicated viewers moved to twitch that i would have never met otherwise, and my vods being in my live section forever is very helpful. I don’t get many live viewers on YT compared to my 35 or so ccv on twitch, but just the vods being there make up for it.
Do wish i had the hardware to handle streaming different qualities, though.

@@nandorscozycorner you can also accomplish this by building other platforms and continue to stream on one main platform. If you don’t have your chats, alerts and timing sinked while multi streaming a lot of passerbys will feel neglected and you may waste your time. Everyone has different success stories so it’s hard to navigate. I will say most successful streamers are involved strongly in other platforms beyond going live.

I am just now starting the streaming adventure, and I think my specific content is designed around Twitch live streaming with UA-cam as a basis for edited content and viewship growth on the Twitch channel. The main issue is finding out how my viewers would want to consume tournament footage that can run 2-4hours in length into a UA-cam digestable format. Oh the joys of modern day attempted broadcasting 🙃

Been seeing this in real-time as a bunch of people I watch who are all trying multi-streaming and tbh. It's just not as good. Chat is split. Not as connective. The only advantage it has is that if the viewer amount isn't too big. It makes it more viable to participate but if you enjoy trying to talk to the streamer...their attention is now split and probably lessened.
I say, despite EVERYTHING just stick to one platform. Either UA-cam or Twitch. And tbh if you multistream....most will default to twitch. Especially since the UI and functionality is way more pleasing and easy on Twitch.
Streaming on UA-cam you are competing not with just other streamers....but literally EVERY single video in someone's sub box, home screen or suggestions. Hell, even Shorts.

In my experience multi streaming to UA-cam and Twitch has been great. My viewers/subscribers on UA-cam here now have a chance to watch my streams easily right here. They get involved in games and sometimes come over to Twitch to join the main chat. Vods being saved forever is great, and I'm slowly working my watch time hours up so I can monetize on here as well. Love your channel and videos man! I think multi streaming works for some, and others not so much. Cheers.

@ It You just have a bias against UA-cam since most of the points in your multistreaming video don’t actually apply to multistreaming. Just YT.
IMO it doesn’t “suck” that UA-cam follows the law, especially after how bad things turned out for Twitch after waiting 9 months to respond to the DMCA scandal. IMP it’s not healthy to promote genuinely illegal activities, especially with the amount of workarounds that exist such as gaming music and stuff like Stresmbeats / Schlatt and Ludwig Emporium), but you do you.

      You misunderstand, I don't think UA-cam sucks, I love UA-cam.
I dislike or think that it sucks that people don't like UA-cam because they are following proper rules.
Multistreamers and Twitch streamers split their VoD and think they can get away with copyright, then come to UA-cam and complain.
My point in the video is, be aware of this if you're trying to multistream, and I even say personally I have zero issues because I don't use illegal material

Gotta hard disagree on this actually. I stream to UA-cam Vertical which shows up in the shorts feed and to Twitch at the same time. Ever since I found a good way to combine chats, it actually has felt pretty cohesive and honestly, I want people to switch to watching me on Twitch where I currently can monetize better. The amount of watch hours I've been getting from old vertical vods too is probably going to get me monetized here soon as well. That said, all the issues you bring up in the vid I've either overcame or are still an issue. It definitely isn't easy. Good content as always eljay!

How many people r actually struggling with a hetic chat though? Averaging 2-5 views as an average joe i dont see that being an actuall problem. I also think u can only stream at 6000kb to twitch as a partner they limit further for affiliates unless that was changed.
As far as streaming on youtube. I thought i seen less views to my videos but i super niched down, changed topics recently, and are trying to gain traction in another niche section. So idk if its people not clicking or youtube not putting my videos out there. I dont think there is really anyway of truly knowing. My videos outside of my orginal niche only hover around 50-100 views in the first week. After a couple days or two weeks i imagine your videos naturally generate less push into the algorithm.
I feel this video is for the mid tier or higher tier streamer that has a established or establishing audience that also has the availability to be able to stream part time rather than a casual hobbyist.
I work 60hrs a week, put out shorts way more than a edited video, i stream alot more than both because its easy to maintain a schedule around. Like many many people having a full time job with alot of overtime and wanting to maintain a healthy lifestyle or hobby outside of that. Im naturally set up for failure. Been at it for 3yrs, and still cant seem to have consistent growth. Until i super niched and was finally averaging around 100 people per stream. Although with no financial support, and little to no chat interactions. Thank god for the lurkers though. Some if not most were just there to troll my stream given the type of game it was and the community it fosters, and others were there for the value i brought to the niche.
Its a roll of the dice, and alot of free time.

Been using Restream for some time now. Your last vid and this one were a big help in me understanding why my YT VOD quality weren't as good. I thought it was just b/c the stream was at 720/60. I've been seeing gradual growth over time on my main communities that I stream to. My work around to this is that I record my streams natively while streaming. Then I can edit it and take out breaks, long sections of general chat that take away from people there just to watch the gameplay restream, swearing or too risque moments etc. Then I upscale it to get the better encoding on YT. I then direct people who find the OG VOD to the playlist that has all of the upscaled replays for that game. Downside - extra editing work. Upside, its gotten my watch hours above 3000 to apply for YPP. For someone who doesn't have time (or skill lol) to do well edited and made 5 - 10 minute videos every few days, this has gotten me to step 1 of YPP. I have a dedicated site that I point people to for anyone who has missed a previous stream where all of my playlists are of all of my past streams to help with this as well.
Next - restream multichat is the main thing that allows me to multicast. Without that I doubt I would do it because of the issues you mentioned. First, I do have chat on my screen so its visible to all viewers. Second,, chatters from each platform can talk to each other because chat shows up in the native chat for YT / Twitch / DLive (Kick only has partial integration with this currently). I also have a specific dock for restream chat on my second monitor so I can keep up with it. I can also scroll back to catch up on chat after an intense gameplay section in that dock.
You still bring up some really good points that I will need to start considering as I grow. Right now, a lot of your solid points I either have a work around for, or I'm too small for it to be an issue. So far, twitch's TOS for multichat hasn't been a big deal b/c I'm not eligible for affiliate. However, should I ever become eligible, I'll need to then start thinking about what to do. I did like the point you made about each platform having its own community as well - that makes sense and will be another thing I'll have to consider as I grow. Like my YT is mostly streams and stream replays. But, when I do have a chance to drop a video, it probably won't perform as well b/c my community on YT is mostly there for streams and I'll have to work extra to remind my streaming audience that I dropped an actual video the other day.
Lastly, after your last vid about multicasting where I commented that I hadn't had issues with restream dropping in a long time - I must have jinxed myself because I think I had a short drop in each of my last 3 streams O_o - it was short and we were back up super quick - but like you said, that could be the difference of people not coming back thinking I ended the stream. I'll be having a chat with RS about that as it is annoying when it does happen.
My experience with multicasting has been a positive one with restream overall, but I realize as well that for a lot of your audience, your points are 1000% valid. And they're valid for me as well because as I grow, I'll need to make some choices that's for sure. Always appreciate your vids and your insight! Cheers!

I've only multistreamed twice (three times if you count my short attempt at streaming last year 🤡). The biggest issue I've seen so far is how far behind the UA-cam stream gets if people are actually there watching. Having said that, the next issue is like you mentioned: one chat getting more attention. There was only 1 active person for the majority on the UA-cam chat, but most of my buds were on the Twitch chat. Unfortunately, I haven't taken the time to have both chats on my stream overlay yet. So I was having to look back and forth on my screen to keep an eye out for people chatting.
I was upfront with the UA-cam chat letting them know Twitch would have been a better viewing experience, but they were having issues with the site and didn't mind lacking features.
I'm still going to give it a go for now. Im trying to give myself the push to work more on editing Shorts and Longform videos.

9:55 This is really interesting. I am wondering why were the livestreams affecting your other videos so much, were they getting recommended instead of your usual edited videos about streaming?
Now I am wondering about my case since I just started streaming: I was planning to multistream on both twitch and youtube (I really wanted youtube cause I have an AV1 compatible graphics card and the quality is extremely good but I have unstable upload speed with youtube only for some reason) with gameplay for single player games, and then shortened versions/highlights as edited videos. In that case I guess the targeted audience overlaps a lot more since the base content is the same. Do you think in this case multistreaming will be ok? Although your experiments make me wonder if it may be better to just let the edited videos on youtube (and maybe make an unlisted playlist/separate channel with high quality full vods instead).

In my case, I made a conscious decision to stay with one platform. The reason is it allows me to focus on the viewers and engage with them, rather than being distracted by a second restream. Furthermore, I can stream at a higher bit rate at 1440p 30fps without splitting the bandwidth or relying on a third party tool to do so.

So ill say maybe having 1 platform in mind for long term and the others for a bonus if you get lucky with an extended reach of audience and tell them to also follow your other accounts, see which one has the most attraction/you prefer to use then eventually stick with the strongest one. There are some great points in here about Restream using the lowest quality and each chat missing out on what the other is doing, but I don't see how UA-cam's copyright system or making VODS public really counts as a multi-streaming issue. I get he talked about biases and stuff in the beginning, but still.

Beginners and smaller creators should always still focus on TikTok and UA-cam offline content.
This video explains I personally at my size of 25-100 viewers hated the experience but I am VERY interactive with every person in chat, it’s why I stream and watch twitch, someone of Charlie’s size likely doesn’t have those problems.

Heyo! I watched the entire thing, it seems he is only talking about revenue, which is meaningless when as a Small to Medium creator you will not earn anything like him in ad revenue. Very disappointed by the video and how cut/dry it was. Ignores the community aspects, ignores discovery, and doesn't understand the privilege that the examples he shows are nowhere near what anyone else has/will see.
I've done hundreds of UA-cam streams, and even with well performing VoDs never earn close to that.
I recommend watching Ludwigs Stream from today titled "Lets Talk" he reacts to Charlie at about 59 minutes in, and shows all of his analytics as well, which sort've instantly shows that it isn't as cut/dry as Charlie says.
At the end of the day, success in this industry isn't whether you stream more, less, on what platform, it's about making offline discoverable content on UA-cam and TikTok.

In every case, It's not the first time he approaches a topics in quite the superficial way, focusing more on sharing his idea than saying something based on actual proofs.
And I understand someone may just want to share their thoughts, but with a pubblic as vast as the one of Charlie, this absolutism may hurt lotta of creators :/
It's what scares me about "UA-cam Avengers", when many people look to a specific figure for answers, blindly trusting what they say.
Anyway, I hope that someone will be able to reach Charlie and warn him.
He is on good terms with Ludwig, if I'm not wrong, maybe he will listen to him.
      Thank you again!
