Got my orange 1974 CT-70 on a stand in basement, had it since new. Man this makes me want to find the time to go over it like I always planned. Still runs, but had some bumps along the way, just needs some TLC. Ran that bike everywhere as a kid, that thing never let me down. What memories. 👍👍
I picked up a 1973 model in Roblin about a year ago. Was an ok price and it is safetied with MPI (rode it all summer). They come up once in a while on Kijiji, but don't last long.
Roadkill had some of these, then I found one two blocks away from me for $80, but it was sold by the time I was out of school... now you guys have them... I would say it is about time I go searching again... haha
*CarsandCameras* A great tip I learned from a guy who restored hundreds of bikes: Gojo brand mechanics hand scrub and aluminum foil sheets work great as a scrubber/polisher for chrome-brings it back to looking new even if pitted rust. The aluminum foil is soft compared to the chrome, and it even removes surface and pitted rust in some cases. Also works on other things-try it. Great videos BTW, watch them all.
Think about it this way swapping the engine will help preserve the original engine so if u want to go back to the original look u can but still have the new engine to have a little fun. U guys r so inspiring to so many people keep up the videos
I sympathize with the chickens... *P.S* We need to see a road trip on the minibikes! *P.P.S* Unfortunately I wasn't around when these bikes came out, but even I am lusting after one! There's just something about these bikes that keeps everyone coming back for more.
John said when Ike got his CT70 that they'd like to get the bikes in good order, get them road legal, and then take a day trip to the beach about an hour away from where they are, on the CT70s it'll be a bit of a road trip.
I am gonna go out and say I think it is the small size and sort of childish feel you get looking at them! Makes you feel kinda nostalgic of your childhood!
Like everyone else I had a CT70, I converted it to CT70H (H = manual clutch) then later I got a SL70 roller and put the engine into that... fun times back in the day
My Aunt had 2 Trail 70's back in the 1970s and 80s when we were kids....They were ALOT OF FUN..... That small rear sprocket gonna give U some good TOP END....
I had a blue one like John’s with the graphics from Ike’s on it. Rode the piss out of that thing for many many years as a kid! Awesome to see you guys saving 2!!!
love em. but love that dramatic chicken scene more haha. love your wipe transition. your editing is getting good. keep up the good work fellas. love waking and baking with you.
Ike I had a ct-70 just like yours and man I had a blast on that thing. Then I found a Honda ct-90. I really fell in love with that bike. It had a high and low rang on it and it would climb a tree if it could hold on to it. Top speed was 50 mph and it didn`t feel too good when I hit that pole with it in town. It threw me off and in front of a car. lol Have fun on the 70`s and please be careful. Oh you all should pick you up some 90`s I`m sure you would like them like I do. L8ter...
looking good guys! I work on small engines all week, and I look forward to watching your videos every week. Leaving a like for the best videos on youtube
Or he could lose those 25 pound he's heavier than John - that'll do the trick too. ;) - jokes a side, he IS bigger than John and that means something with such a small engine with limited power. He could also get a less restrictive exhaust like John's, that'll help too. :)
Honda should really re-release their classic Trail line. They'd probably make the most money the sooner they do it, so they don't miss out on baby boomer nostalgia when they're gone. Also the Monkey.
There ya go. Drop some Lifans in 'em, keep the stock engines tucked away. Hearing both of you guys ripping around that corner reminds me of summer nights here in Columbus with all the Groms tearing it up around here.
I have a 1972 Ct70 with a 4 speed with a clutch, not the 3-speed auto, those 3-speed auto are lame compared to the 4 speed with a clutch. 4 speed will smoke a stock CT70 auto. Got it at age 10 and I drove it all over Wisconsin in the 70's and 80's and it was the sticks back then. Still, have it and it was the Best Mini Bike Ever Ever Made.
sedric beachy how much and what is condition? I dont have money to spend right now but when i get my job over summer i will be able to buy if under 500 cuz i need to buy a car
We used to have these in Germany as well . They were called Honda DAX , but only had a 50ccm motor due to insurance classes . Still ,they were quiet popular in their day.
Great video guys! Love those CT 70s now, but didn't look twice at them as a kid. Dang it. BTW, at 12:50, careful of that sagging kickstand, could turn into a left turn pole vault. Just sayin'....
lookit you guys now. all professional with the mad media blaster. Rims lookin' good! AND you have chickens too?!? Mad jealous. Keep the rubber side down, n keep on postin these awesome vids. Trail "70" FTW! gonna be glorious to see them with roadworthy stamps. (and then 220cc in there!)
A few years ago I saw one of them bikes on my local Craigslist for 600 bucks and it ran. I should have bought that the second I saw that thing because now they go for crazy money
I had one win i was a kid sold it 4 80.cashs never gave nothing 4 it got it free I was dum an had a kid on way so sold it I want another one cool videos u guys rock love them.mini bikes
The bikes are awesome. Ike, I hate to say this but in Australia old people drive gold cars. They are the new hat drivers. Some of them even have hats on the parcel shelf as well as the gold coloured car.
Sunday a group stop @SouthTexasMotorCycleMuseum Edinburg TX on Mini-Bikes 2 were 74 trail 70's the rest were New Ninja looking Honda's. It's like you guy's have started A Thing.
To remove the fork tubes place a longer screw of the same thread pitch into the fork drain holes and lightly bottom out against the inner tube. This will stop it from turning when you try to remove the bottom screw .Never had a honda 70 but this has always worked on other bikes.
Your chickens or Rhode Island red and the bigger chicken is called a rooster that's why he crows so much rooster. And I enjoyed the video can't wait to see more
rooster just does not like ike my friend used to raise chickens for eggs she had a red said was the meanest red roosters she ever had, she ever couldn't hardly ever get in to the coop to get the eggs with out him attacking had to get rid of him
Hey guys, thought i’d share a quick idea, sand blast the rims and coat the inside in plasti-dip? Not the spray paint but the kind that comes in a can and you dip tool handles in?
I'll be 62 September 12th 2020 Just started restoring my October 1969 CT Trail 70 and I know my wife and I are going to have a blast just bought it a Lifan 125 High Performance Engine 4-speed automatic sweet happy trails my friends happy trails
I think on removing the forks you need an all thread rod...with a specific size hex nut to hold it while ya loosen it. Check a service manual for details. Don’t be hate’n on me if I’m wrong.
CarsandCameras the crawl is the small bore event of the year, scoots, minis, groms, even a few CT’s. I’ll be there with my scoot on the spray...allegedly anyway.
Hopelessly obsessed with this bike😁
CarsandCameras obseesed with your channel
You guys need an enclosed sand blaster. Saves alot of sand haha
"That 70's Show" ?
+blanky blank yes to a closed blast cabinet and easy to make from a sheet of plywood, making the V bottom rectangle first.
model nutty agreed!
John-"If you hear me banging, that's what I'm doing"...Ike's face when he said that LOL
Got my orange 1974 CT-70 on a stand in basement, had it since new. Man this makes me want to find the time to go over it like I always planned. Still runs, but had some bumps along the way, just needs some TLC. Ran that bike everywhere as a kid, that thing never let me down. What memories. 👍👍
GAHT dayum...the only thing better than wrenching with a buddy is when you and that buddy can ride together. So happy for yous guys!
*You Guys Have me searching for another CT70 LOL!! I miss my old one!!*
Only if i could find ones in Manitoba at a ok price.

Same here in Toronto guys don't feel bad. Their hard to find cheap. John and Ike got amazing deals
When is the engine swap? Looking forward to that vid.
I picked up a 1973 model in Roblin about a year ago. Was an ok price and it is safetied with MPI (rode it all summer). They come up once in a while on Kijiji, but don't last long.
Wow !!! What a sweet pair of 70's !! I want a couple !!
I totally agree with Ike on putting a newer 125cc on it👍🏻👍🏻. John is so excited about these bikes you can really tell! Good stuff
Love the classics guys! Keep it up. Killer rooster is keeping Ike in line. Too funny!
You guys are crazy. So much fun to be had by those bikes.
Roadkill had some of these, then I found one two blocks away from me for $80, but it was sold by the time I was out of school... now you guys have them... I would say it is about time I go searching again... haha

I had a 1971 emerald green one factory color only one i ever saw that color, loved that bike
Y’all are really good at sticking to your M/W schedual
Think about it this way swapping the engine will help preserve the original engine so if u want to go back to the original look u can but still have the new engine to have a little fun. U guys r so inspiring to so many people keep up the videos
I had a 74 and it was blue so I'm a bit partial this video really brings back memories of when I was a teenager
I sympathize with the chickens...
*P.S*
We need to see a road trip on the minibikes!
*P.P.S*
Unfortunately I wasn't around when these bikes came out, but even I am lusting after one! There's just something about these bikes that keeps everyone coming back for more.

Love the bumping into stuff for transitions. It’s done so smoothly!
Edit: And the arm swipe... so clever!
I like Ike's exhaust and John's looks good with the tidy wheels😊
Bikes look awesome, guys! I rebuilt one a few years ago for a friend, I think it was a '72 he same color as Ike's. Makes me miss that little bike.
Like everyone else I had a CT70, I converted it to CT70H (H = manual clutch) then later I got a SL70 roller and put the engine into that... fun times back in the day
John this is a family-friendly Channel😊
That's a hard pick. They are both really cool.
I like the clean look of John's bike. Also, you guys have me searching for one of these bikes!
14:23 John was about to cry...hahahaha well done guys! love both bikes:
My Aunt had 2 Trail 70's back in the 1970s and 80s when we were kids....They were ALOT OF FUN.....
That small rear sprocket gonna give U some good TOP END....

trail 70's were hands down the best trailbike! just enough power to go almost anywhere, and ran forever!
Or he could lose those 25 pound he's heavier than John - that'll do the trick too. ;)
- jokes a side, he IS bigger than John and that means something with such a small engine with limited power. He could also get a less restrictive exhaust like John's, that'll help too. :)

My favorite build! I had one when I was a kid!
I like johns 70... it's lookin dang good!
Honda should really re-release their classic Trail line. They'd probably make the most money the sooner they do it, so they don't miss out on baby boomer nostalgia when they're gone. Also the Monkey.
They have, in Japan.
They-brought-back-their-Robin-egg-blue-plastics-for-the-18-models,not-see-on-a-Honda-since-the-late80s,early-90s..

There ya go. Drop some Lifans in 'em, keep the stock engines tucked away. Hearing both of you guys ripping around that corner reminds me of summer nights here in Columbus with all the Groms tearing it up around here.
The chicken portion was hilarious 😆
I have a 1972 Ct70 with a 4 speed with a clutch, not the 3-speed auto, those 3-speed auto are lame compared to the 4 speed with a clutch. 4 speed will smoke a stock CT70 auto. CarsandCameras the crawl is the small bore event of the year, scoots, minis, groms, even a few CT’s. I’ll be there with my scoot on the spray...allegedly anyway.

I have a couple CT70s and my favorite has a Zongshen 190cc 5 speed electric start engine. I've had it up to 81 mph according to my GPS.
