Ill be honest. One of the main reasons I come to this channel is for the 90’s retro look Ike sports. The beaded necklace, wallet chain, long sideburns and the cargo shorts transport me back to a simpler time. I breathe in the nostalgia and savor every moment.
You all should find Mini Choppers or Mini Crotch Rockets and toss 190cc on them. It would be neat to see you with a pavement pounder. Also, very new content if there is road course or something available. Big engine on the Dragster?? Would love to see more success out of that project, you all really put some time into it!
You will love the 190cc total game changer. Only difference will be the exhaust comes out at a different angle has klx style head. I have a 170tr and a piranha with Dayton 190 and the 190 absolutely destroys the 170
I just wanted to comment how good a quality the video and sound is in these video's....probably a side of the show no one appreciates just thought I would give you guys a high five for that.
I bought a lifan model 250cc engine came with the engine only have to find all the other accessories, glad you guys use these engines been helping me big time!
who would want to ride one of those goofy death traps, well me for one,, like to see what you get for top speed numbers, l only got up to 37 on my stock setup, great vid as always guys,
We did some top speed runs today with our little GPS app. Ike did 62 on his 125 and I did 68 on my 140. My takeoff is waayyy better though. I recommend the 140 ;) Are you planning on swapping yours?
I just bought a 125 semi auto off of Ebay for my ct90 and it showed up with a broken coil pickup mount, I'm going thru the return process now, never been so disappointed!!! At least I can watch you do yours!
I have a Suzuki rv90 that needs to be torn apart and cleaned. I'm hoping to do that soon so I can take it to the meet up you guys do. Thanks for the amazing video on this amazing bike! Cheers!!!
When you adjust the sheet metal to fit the lifan if you have to, use an angle grinder and a cut off wheel to cut this strip cuts back to your pencil mark. I hang the motor in the top bolt and swing the motor mount back into the sheet metal to tell where the sheet metal needs trimmed. There is usually 1-3 spots on the motor near the top and bottom motor mounts than need a moon shape cut out on both sides of the sheet metal frame of the bike. Always mount the top hole first and if the bottom mount hole doesn't line up then you have to drill a new bottom hole in the sheet metal of the bike. I fill the gap between the sheet metal and rear motor mount with washers and bolt it in. The motor is mounted at that point.
hay guys, speaking for all my friends your show is so cool,i do think we been waiting a long time to see that truck running and driving guys.love the show.
Used to have a bunch of these when I was younger back then we swapped in the ct 110 moped engines even put one in a little 50 frame definitely some fun bikes
You should get a motorcycle lift like Mustie1 has. I'm sure it would be 100 times more comfortable working on stuff, and help with filming. You guys are doing good
I did the same conversion a few years ago with the addition of 12 inch rims. You can connect the white and yellow wires together for full time charging. Please remember china engines are shipped with vegetable oil for safety regulations and need to be flushed.
I used a Lifan 110 semi auto, put the honda clutch cover on,footrest bolts straight on.Use the float bowl and petcock from the 70 on the lifan 19mm carb. Looks standard, but it a little tourque monster,16/30 sprockets tops out at 55mph on the flat.
I had a Honda trail 70 that I ran the CRAP out of back in the 80's. Same color. This brings back memories. Never changed the oil in that thing and it just ran and ran...
I also need to add that you guys are a class act. My 10 year old has been watching you for a few years now. He has learned so much from you, and I know he is going to get wholesome, quality content from you. Kudos!
I put a pisterpro 140cc in my CT 70 . A fairly straightforward . The engine harness and carb was included in the kit. I had to get separate a clutch perch and cable (pit bike style) and a pit bike set of pegs. ( I weld so I widened the ct70 peg set..) To help me keep my front wheel down I used a 80's xr 80 steel swingarm. And welded the pivot mount from the CT70 swingarm to it . Making about a 10"stretch swinger.
I wish I still had photos , unfortunately they were on photobucket which changed all their policy and I lost 75% or more of all the photos I had there. . My friend @Brian Howard owns the Ct 70/140 now. I believe he is also a Cars and Cameras follower and most likely has photos of it .
The younger generation doesn't realize what the Honda mini bikes meant to kids in the 60's and 70's. Before the trail 50/70 series we had these domestic built mini bikes with Briggs & Stratton lawn mower engines, after a little use, they wouldn't even start on a reliable basis anymore. When the Honda's came out they were rock solid reliable and utterly kid proof, they were huge.
You guys have to change the oil. They come from factory with cheap stuff mine was like fish oil. For break in, It doesn't really make a difference. I 125 swapped my z50 and its been running great for a year, broken in. I know people that just slapped it on and they are still running strong after 6 years!
I know how you feel man, I have to completely re-wire a 1952 Willys truck. I also have to convert it to 12 V which involves gauges lights starter charging system and everything else that was originally 6 V. It’s not very fun let me tell you that.
It is not spring time JOHN!!! Winter IS HERE♟⚔️♟ You guys have to remake the scene with Harry and Lloyd from dumb&dumber when Lloyd pulls up in the minibike😆🤣👍
Very cool video guys. I really enjoy your work. Those old bikes bring back memories. Unfortunately one was wrecking my buddies Blue Honda Trail 70 over 40 years ago!!!! Anyhow thanks for sharing…… ride on guys!! 🤙🏻😎
If you do ever decide to rebuild the stock motor you should consider the 88cc big bore kit. Heard that it nearly doubles the stock power of the 70 and is easy to do. I’m in the process of it right now on a 70 motor out of a 1983 three wheeler
i'm not even lying i am currently doing THE EXACT same swap right now because the bike now doesn't have head carb gas tank and seat so i'm fixing that up for a quarantine project
Nice project guys loving it. Just your ordinary big fan down here in Texas...Just wondering if we are going to see a "Drift Trike" come down the line? just wonderin'
My trail90 with lifan125 with a 15 tooth sprocket on motor and 45 tooth sprocket on rear wheel I believe 16inch wheel. Does between 45 and 60 miles an hour for 80 to 100 miles at a time between towns here in nevada. It rides like a xr200. I put Renthal handle bars for a regular dirt bike on. I run a rear tire on front and back of my trail90.
So glad you guys brought the 70’s back!!! I just picked up a 1972 just like Ike’s. Same candy yellow color. Trying to decide if I will do an 88cc kit on the original engine or do a 125cc swap like you guys.
Murican's and clutches... there's nothing complicated or special about driving with a clutch. It's instinctive, you're coupling the engine with the gearbox, it's useful and let you feel what's going on.
we used to make old yamaha fs1 , and the frames on them bend like a pretzel when adding power , you might keep an eye on the hondah frame when you put the way more powerfull engine in there , aspecially around the hingepoint for the rear fork hmmm the rope trick for the spring is a good idea , got my fingers caught in between a spring and the mountingpoint numerous times as for the electrics , smartest thing to do is go one circuit at a time , actually draw them out piece by piece , makes installing a lot eazier
Cool ct70 Ike I have the exact same color as yours and it is also the same year 1972 I was thinking of putting a Zongshen 212cc engine with a rhino vz21 turbocharger also with updated] guage cluster. I love ct70s
Can we get a video from you guys explaining what to buy, for those of us who want to start cutting & joining metal like you guys do? I'm talking about must-have power tools, such as a chop saw. And, what kind of welder to buy? Etc. Thanks for another awesome video!!!
You guys should hit up Mustie1. He pretty much just went through a non running one of these trail70 bikes and got it running. He has another spare bike that needs a motor and would probably love to have all the parts you guys tore of this one. Keep doing your thing with these awesome videos.
Dang John! I was hoping you were gonna go different from the norm and put a fleetside bed on your truck. It would look super sick (and different) with a fleetside.

Trail Buddy for all CT70 parts! They have a labeled, 100% complete, 12vdc, plug n play wiring kit. They are wonderful people too! Great video guys!!!!
I just wanted to comment how good a quality the video and sound is in these video's....probably a side of the show no one appreciates just thought I would give you guys a high five for that.

I made a 212cc 3 wheel moped
“I nicked your paint”
Ike gives him a death glance while scuffing new paint
