- In part two of the CarsandCameras West Virginia Special, we find Ike's cabin while riding 1970s Honda CT70 mini bikes. When we arrive, we find that the abandoned house has been broken into and vandalized. Fortunately, we find the nearby river (which is breathtaking), and we board up and fortify the house. Ike decides to spend the night in the cabin, which he says was one of the worst decisions he's ever made.

when you have a place like this so far from were you live you need to find some one to be a caretaker in return for free room and board . it's something that was popular in Florida way back when I was a kid . it's one of the best and cheapest ways to have a place like this and keep it safe because the person guarding the house is literally protecting the place they call home even if it's yours. it would also discourage the local teens from using it as a party house like they have been doing.

its the woods. I lived in a camp for a year..was gone for a couple of days. Came back and found a chainsaw and little stockpile. a thief was using the camp that wasn't his to store his stolen stuff. It was so common, the cop told me just to keep it..and have a gun.

I moved into a 110 year old farm house that hadn’t been occupied for well over 20 years with a massive roof issue. The bones were still good and, eight years later, it’s now the nicest home I’ve ever lived in. The original red oak framing made it worth saving.

Wow that property is amazing. Ike you are a lucky man. You should be buying yourself a bunch of trail cams and sticking them all over that place so when those people come back in there you get some footage. one of the most beautiful areas of the whole country. You guys are really doing a nice job shaking things up and keeping the show interesting. I myself am building two karts for my granddaughters right later on this winter I'm going to build myself a CB750 powered kart.
Gents, I know yawl dont need me to tell you how cool it is what you do. in 1968 I was 10. My first Honda was a Red Honda 55, then I graduated to a 70 Honda Mini Trail, then a 73 SL 70. we used to flat track in our barn. so much fun, Thanks for helping me remember the fun I've had
I had the same Problem with a property in Central Oregon, I put my Daughter/family in the place to prevent it from being completely

He left 4 wheeling tracks in the grass. I followed them right to his house. I was poking around looking for my posts when he came home, someone called him. He was a little tense. I assured him that our next meeting will be painless, I'm a great shot with a deer rifle.

That old red 70 looks just like the one I had as a kid. Someone picked ot up off the side of a dirt road near my house after the carb clogged and it died on me. This was in Guilford county NC. Honestly I hope the one you guys rode is it. Just knowing that it's still going after all these years would be awesome. No way of telling really if it's the same bike. I know one of the side covers had a nickle sized hole on the top where my dad wrecked it. (Road a 150ft wheelie down the road with a stuck wide open throttle in front of my friends and I as we played soccer in a neighbors yard. Wrecked when he set it down) He patched the hole with JB weld or something, just seeped a little after that. And that one looks like it has a new cover. If that's my old bike I will seriously go get a bank loan for whatever you want for that bike asap. Man, when that exhaust heat shield starts vibrating it really brings me back. That sound is so familiar.

Junkers. When I used to do junking for a living I met some shady junkers. They would break into people's houses on dirt roads and take everything or take all the wires from houses being built.

For scrap metal. That shit is everywhere. I've seen on the news where, in big cities, thieves cut down lighting cables for the copper, costing the cities or companies hundreds of thousands of dollars to replace.
I can't help but laugh at Ike's amazement at the "Bake King" pan.... I have 2 of them passed down from my great grandmother and I love them. She got them when she was a little girl when her family moved to the United States from Poland in 1896 and I still have them..... Ike is gonna have some pretty looking pies for breakfast now. LoL
You can tell he's a city boy, he wouldn't even stay with Ike at the house, shit I could live there while I fixed it, wouldn't bother me a bit

I recognize that covered bridge. I grew up in Wv and my wife went to Phillip Barbour highschool just down the road. I now live in Wilmington NC which isnt too far from where you guys are now. Small world.
Perfect bug out place, I would may say, when SHTF, some land for gardening, a well, close to a river, nice scenery and a little offside the main roads. But one has to keep it protected, always good to have a car parked close to the house and some light on, love such places... Greetings from Scandinavia

As an old guy who watches y'alls channel I'd have to say this was one of you're most epic adventures to date... And it reminds me of us when we were younger and took road trips at the drop of a hat,on 2 wheels of course and saw new and exciting places and interesting things along the way... It's not the destination but the miles of smiles along the way that's important ...

My guess on the rock stacks is someone use to make a living selling stone. With the bigger ones there too they spent their days chiseling away to make useful stones.
stacked stones like that is also a common way to mark property lines
Y’all should get some trail 90s they have a hi and low gearing system I got mine for about 1300 with 1200 miles on it
Old CT90s are great bikes indeed.
Mine is a first year model, 1964, so it doesn't have high and low range. And it's a pushrod engine. Kind of a rare bird now.
I’m from about an hour west of there! I live in KY now, but alway love seeing my home state and some the areas I’ve been to. Ike you’ve got a great spot there!

That is a really neat property and super quiet and peaceful, especially with the river right there. Would be a really nice place to have fixed up for weekend trips if you could keep it from being vandalized in the mean time.

That looks like a Black snake skin. We have lots of them in PA. I use to find at least 3 or 4 skins every year in our basement storage area. They were about that size. Sometimes when I have been in the basement I would hear sticks that we would store between the joists fall. I would go into the room and look up and see the snake sitting there. I made a pole snare and would catch them and use a board with x-acto knife blades on the end and stab and kill them.

Ah the Phillipe covered bridge. One of my great grandpa's was the architect of the bridge. Long time ago that bridge caught fire by a truck . They refinished it to its glory by using hand tools. I love the area and miss it greatly because if I go through now it is a visit to my grandparents graves.
That house sure brought back found memories. Years ago I bought and remodeled a old house for my Grandma to live in. Unfortunately some relatives that hadn't spoken to her in decades came and took the house after she passed away, so I ended up loosing the investment but it sure was fun spending my evenings and weekends fixing up the old house just how she wanted it.
That Charles kid is super curious, I'd be exactly like him. Love exploring new things!

You had all that clean plywood. Coulda slapped a sheet over the bed and called it good.
You should get some solar-powered cams and set them up on the property and inside of the house to try to get photos of the people going in your house. The stacked stone was most likely used as property markers at one time. In some places, the stones are cleared to make property markers while making planting areas. It was an old custom. I'm building a full Vanlife van to travel and hopefully meet people like y'all on journies like this. Good for you Ike for staying at the house. Reminds me of my younger days. Cheers!

Man!!, watching yall ride those trail 70's takes me back to the mid - 70's when my friend 's and I formed a bike riding club and we had Honda trail 70's, and the kick - ass, sl 70, xl 70, sl 125, xl 125, cr 90, which absolutely hauled ace!!!!, it was a 2 stroke, and the Honda Elsinore 125, 250..., anyway, thanks for the trip down memory lane!!!!!

The stacked stone is likely a mill foundation. It's the base building from which the rest of the buildings were made. Cool stuff. You have a very nice property from which to build a modern, off grid, homestead that is above the flood line. Make the most of it.

If you come to Texas you need to ride the Three Twisted Sisters. It's ranch roads 335, 336 and 337 out in the Hill Country. I've rode it twice and will be going back.

I lived in Maryland for 25 years and I love West Virginia Real Estate and Land scapes I have freinds that bought 10 acres on the Potomac River and used it for camping for many years they now have built their retirement home when it was used for camping they did put in electric and a small bath house with a toilet ,running water and a shower I think it had some electric heat too for those colder weekends I used to pull my Airstream to the property and bathe in the Potomac River !nice clean and cold water

Thats one of the pretties rivers we have here in WV and the covered wooden bridge at the end of town has been rebuilt twice due to fire both times I believe the recent rebuild wasn't finished till a few years ago,,, very historic little town... Ya all should get some tubes next time you go and do a river trip, its alot of fun during the hot summer months. Great content as always fellas!!

you should do some metal detecting back there to look for stuff like civil war relics, old coins, and other stuff. here is a tip, if you do, metal detect around tree's, the roots tend to pull stuff up to the surface.
