  • Here's a behind the scenes look at my home office set up and the equipment I use every single day when teaching online. I'm sharing with you what lighting, microphone, desk set up, and technology I use to teach online classes, coaching sessions, consultations, zoom meetings, and 1:1 lessons.
    Show Notes 📝
    1️⃣00:00 Overview set up
    2️⃣1:30 Lighting
    Ring light: amzn.to/2A6nHmB
    Small ring light: amzn.to/2ZB8VOE
    3️⃣2:20 Sound
    Mic I used in this video: amzn.to/3f4aQ36
    This is my fav go to mic that is easy to use and plugs in directly to USB in your computer so no need for a mixer. It even has an okay condenser built in that makes it okay for singing as well. Not as good a mics with high level condensers but a great all around mic to get started with.
    4️⃣4:00 Computer and other equipment
    Ipad case: amzn.to/30k82cl
    5️⃣5:06 Speaker
    Bose Speaker: amzn.to/2ZEq6yD
    *This Bose speaker I have is pricey and I bought it years ago to use for backyard events with lots of sound and power. There are a ton on amazon now that are much more affordable. More than likely you probably already have one in your own home you could use.
    6️⃣5:40 Phone
    Pop socket I use: amzn.to/2OzX1OH

    Thank you, this is very helpful! Two follow up questions:
    Do you use the built-in camera on your macbook for video during your classes or something else for your video?
    How do you monitor the sound of your students - headphones/earbuds, bose speaker, computer speaker, etc? I find it really helps reduce potential feedback and other sound issues if I am using some kind of headphones.

      I use to use the computer camera but now I use my iPhone as my camera bc it has better quality. I don't use earbuds anymore actually but I have a space that it's okay to have loud noise with lots of students talking and singing 😊 I just use my computer speakers but I have a brand new macBook pro so the quality is really high. Headphones are great for feedback though! Also check out your zoom audio settings and see if you can make some adjustments that might help like enabling Original Sound in advanced settings.

    • @AshleeEspinosa
      @AshleeEspinosa  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Nicola! I feel ya on teaching online since March. Design is so challenging to teach online so hang in there! I teach musical theatre so we do lots of singing and loud talking so an external mic really helps with condensing the sound and creating a more "live" quality of the voice so it feels like they are in the room. I find that an external mic also helps with a clear, crisp sound when you're speaking just bc it's better quality than the built in mic. I think it's a personal choice really. If you're doing a ton of online teaching and meetings, etc then it's a good option bc it really does up the level and quality of the sound. When I switch from my computer mic to the external mic the students are always shocked at how much better it sounds.

    Just a question with your microphone, if you use it for lessons, do you get any echoing? I teach online and I find that if my students are speaking, the microphone will pick up the sound and create a terrible echoing sound. Thanks for the great video!

    • @AshleeEspinosa

      I do not get any feedback when I use my mic but you might want to go back in and check your settings in zoom though. Go into advanced under the audio section and check it out. Also make sure you only have one device open that's using zoom in your work space and two. That could cause feedback.

    • @AshleeEspinosa
      @AshleeEspinosa  2 роки тому +1

      Depends. If you use a USB digital mic then you should be fine with no feedback. If you use an analog mic and external mixer then you will need to use headphones for the speaker so you can hear the students. My typpical set up I just plug in the USB mic to my laptop and select that mic in Zoom for the audio and select speaker as either my headphones or just my laptop speaker if I don't want to wear headphones. I really enjoy your videos. I know your very busy person but Is it ok of I ask you something?
    This is so nuts, and my eyes are going to pop out of my head.
    I've been studying and becoming more acquainted with trying to build a course by reading ebooks but sadly, I encountered a laptop problem.
    I purchase a brand new HP laptop for $1,000, thinking that the computer would be able to handle some software like Camtasia and then all of a sudden Camtasia crashed when I opted a video or 2 resulting in a blue screen of death in other words it froze and a blue screen appeared.
    I called the HP service and send in my laptop about two days ago, so I'm in a bit of a pickle because I don't know what to do now.
    Will I be better off using Camtasia or another platform? I'm not satisfied since I paid for Camtasia already and scared to use it again.
    Is this something you've experienced?
    everything was running smoothly until I downloaded camtashia! I will appreciate your feedback and will be grateful🙏🏽.

    • @AshleeEspinosa
      @AshleeEspinosa  3 роки тому

      Hi there. So sorry that happened to you. I am not familiar with Camtasia personally but it looks like a great software promo for creating and editing video content. I use a MacBrook Pro for all my work so I'm not familiar with HP laptops and their capabilities.
      If everything was working until you downloaded the program then it might be that your hardware wasn't equipped to fully run the program.

    Do you use headphones? Nice video btw.

      Sometimes. It depends but most of the time I don’t bc I live in a space where I am mostly alone and can shut the door. If I use my mic and equipment that is through the H6 meaning it’s not digital then yes I use headphones as that is the only way to hear with that set up.

    Hi, I’m about to start online math tutoring, what do I need? Give me a feedback please.

    • @AshleeEspinosa
      @AshleeEspinosa  3 роки тому

      Hi there. It depends on the platform the school/tutor is using. I would reach out to your teacher and ask them if there is anything specific you need. I would assume you need a internet, computer and a quiet place you can work. Try to find a bright place so the teacher can clearly see you and a quiet place so they can hear you. YOu might try using headphones and perhaps get an external mic so they can clearly hear you. Either try a headphone with a mic attached like a gaming headphone set or an external mic you can plug into your computer. Best wishes in your learning!

    Ms. Espinosa: “the microphone is super affordable”
    Me: *checking the price on Amazon*
    Amazon: “$399.00”
    Me: “😳😟 oh yea I’m on the wrong video”

      I think you might be referring to the mic I suggest for podcasting. The Fifine mic that I suggest in this video is about $60 on Amazon. It's the first one I suggest in the notes and the mic under it was the more expensive one that is $399. I agree with you that one is super expensive! I will go ahead and remove that one from this video reference just so other people don't get confused. Thanks so much for pointing that out to me. I appreciate it! Here's the link to the one I use and suggest in this video

    Did you have problems connecting your USB mic to your MacBook??

    • @AshleeEspinosa
      @AshleeEspinosa  3 роки тому +1

      I didn't but just make sure you have the correct adapter for your MacBook and the mic you are trying to plug into it. You can buy the adapters on amazon usually just gotta make sure you have the right one for your computer.

      @@AshleeEspinosa Are you using a MacBook Air or Pro and how old is it? Sorry for all the questions, it's just that I've read various conflicting info about mics not working with Apple products...

    • @AshleeEspinosa
      @AshleeEspinosa  3 роки тому

      I have a MacBook Pro and it's about 2 years old. I did have the air a while but made the switch to Pro bc the air just doesn't offer enough ways to connect external equipment like mics, hard drives etc plus the storage on the hard drive is very low. Hope that helps a little.
