Without a campaign, I never would have gotten into both Starcraft and Warcraft...and this is despite the fact that 90% of my playtime in both of those RTS are mp matches. Campaigns are a NECESSITY for RTSes to thrive and succeed.
I on reddit made a comment one someone saying there shouldn't be a campaign. The stats showed in SC2 75% of the players never touched multiplayer. The no campaign people fail to understand campaigns are needed to get people to hop on board.
I've heard something similar before. I agree with you, even though I'm a multiplayer focused person. From stuff I've heard in promo vids they've actually developed something of a story to go with it too.
the subreddit is basicly just a bunch of haters its rly sad ... they also just copy pasta the most stupid and redicilous posts ... honestly i sometimes wonder how i can be the same species like these people
When the devs said the ugly as fuck Artwork was a CHOICE, instead of a MISTAKE or something they could work on, that was I knew for certain it's going to be a huge flop. The ground still looks like a shoddy made piece of cardboard and they are going to make no attempt to fix it. The fact that it received well over 30m in funding and they can't afford a single decent artist speaks volumes. They have no idea what the fuck they are doing. Starcraft 1 Art and Music are 100x better and it was made 30 years ago, we don't even have to compare it to Starcraft 2 because everyone knows the game will be a joke in comparison. Everyone and their mother who has played Brood War will still recognize the Terran and Zerg themes instantly. You show a Marine, Zergling, or Zealot to anyone, they'll know it's from Starcraft. You show literally any unit from Stormgate to anyone they'll think it's from a generic mobile game, maybe with the minor exception of Fiends that are the only unit that aren't god awful generic looking. This isn't some indie dev studio, they have over 30 MILLION IN FUNDING. There is no excuse for the game to look and sound this fucking ugly. Thank god we have a game like Battle Aces to keep RTS alive and show what a competent dev team can do with in terms of Art and Gameplay with much less funding.
