@@Zapall01 Crazy how being purely informative and concise can be received and judged so poorly. Maybe he should act like an influencer with bombastic inflection and play a worthless Minecraft video in the background
I just want to know if it's just me, but I don't really feel any appeal to any of the unit designs? Like the Zealot in Starcraft is fucking "cool" - psi wrist blades, super tanky warriors, like it's a "cool" concept. The units in stormgate feel like Fortnite skins almost. They all feel so inoffensive and boring. I hope the third race is more exciting. Edit: ghosts, zerglings, goliaths, hydras, stalkers and dragoons, carriers, vikings and BC's, there are no shortage of awesome units in Starcraft. Meanwhile in Stormgate, atlas is a siege frog
It's interesting to see so many buffs/debffs able to be cast on friendly or enemy units. Makes me wonder if we'll see some varied unit compositions (perhaps what the developers were hoping to push)?
Yeah I actually really like the direction they went with these buffs and debuffs. It feels like something that would be much better for balancing across the board, as lower-tier players won't use them to their fullest and top players will. So instead of just changing the unit values directly, you could alter the buffs and debuffs and still create meaningful balance changes in a more targeted way.
The only similarity is they are both melee units. The differences are: splash, no defend, buff when attacked. So basically everything else. The comparison are just starting points, all the units are wildly different. Adding a single ability or stat change (move speed, attack range, attack aoe) makes the units incredibly different.
@@mauriciorossi8477 I never said they were the same but they resemble footman way more than zealots. Yes they don't have defend but defend was to counter range units and the Lancer can chase down range units because of the speed boost so it still fits the bill even if it possibly is based off zealot's charge. And yea the exo's ability is like stimpack but the unit controls like a rifleman. And then most off all they resemble the footman rifleman combo because unlike marines and zealots they are on the same race meaning you can get the old combo of melee in front range in the back with the medtec replacing priests and sorceress. In the coop mode there is an exo variant literally called rifleman and you have a paladin as the hero exactly like the wc3 paladin rifleman build. Though I guess they are similar to the zealot stalker/immortal combo. Also the dragoon like spider crab reminds me a of a siege engine mixed with a mortar team. And then the rest of the units remind me of terran.
Bobs are Warcraft 3 Human Peasants, they build in groups but are vulnerable and their town hall turns them into "Militia". The hedgehog are command and conqueror Generals GLA rocket buggies, super fast hit and run micro buggies with a long reload good at sieging and pretty meh vs light ground units.
The siege tank is my favorite unit, i like it because it rewards you for taking important places on the map away from your opponent, the tank in this game doesnt look like it does enough damage to hold down an area, like really fast units are going to be able to dance around the tank shots and kill the frontline without getting hit
you set a few up in a choke and have them ground fire in a line so enemies run thru an entire arty barrage. Also even in sc/sc2 you never leave tanks on their own.

I hope this game succeeds, but the current iteration looks really conservatively designed to me. Maybe so much focus on esports and balance that it's missing fun/exciting stuff?
my prediction will be similar to what happened in sc2, instead of making the best possible game ever, they are trying to make a 'next generation of competitive RTS' what made broodwar and lol so good was they organic evolution of their popularity and fun. sc2 was a great successor to bw, but it couldnt carry the crown. i'll be excited to see if storm gate or any of these next gen rts's will be able to carry the load.
