    Once again, you guys have brought even more knowledge to us. I'm sure many of us "frog" our fabric. As a newbie to knitting, I find I rip out a lot! But I'm figuring that every bit of practice will hopeful one day give me the same quality stitches that are demonstrated in your work. Thanks again as always for explaining the options!

    ARNE, You have been so helpful as I try to learn two handed knitting. I found the pick method you use works best for my 76 year old hands. However I would love a slow motion tutorial on purling with this technique. Thanks again for your help and say hi to Carlos as well. Knittingnana

    So encouraging to those who are intimidated by colourwork. Everyone should be able to become quite confident with your helpful tips. And the advice to not automatically rip is VERY helpful. Sometimes knitters are too ready to rip if it is not perfect and then they become frustrated and then pretty soon they never want to even try knitting colourwork and they stop knitting altogether. There are other ways to improve and continuing and practice is the only way. Your advice about that can never be emphasized enough. Thank you for another important tutorial by showing how to evaluate your tension.

    This video is just what I needed as I’m looking at my hat, there are too loose and too tight stitches. Thought not to rip out but use this experience to learn the Norwegian way of knitting. Hat is for my husband. I’m using cashmere and wool yarn. The feel is so so nice. Thanks again!

    Hello Arne and Carlos! I was enjoying the weekly video installment as always and you mentioned bringing up questions so I have some. I'm in the US (upstate NY more specifically) and weaving is becoming really popular here as a craft while making a bit of a comeback in the art world as well. I know you have mentioned that Arne used to work on Finnish Rya rugs in the past. Is he willing to share any of these with us? Also have either of you played around with the smaller lap looms? Or even small branches? People are finding really creative weaving projects for leftover wool yarn and roving. I would love to see a tutorial of this sort of thing if you are working on any related projects.

    Wonderful informational video! Thank you! Can you please do a tutorial on colorwork knitting in the round? How do you avoid a jog in the colorwork? When I start the new round with colorwork , I get ugly stair-step or jogs in the colors. My motif gets all askew and looks really bad at the start of a new round. How can you avoid the ugly stair-steps and have clean circular colorwork in your knitting? Thank you Arne & Carlos!

    • @jayathome2898
      @jayathome2898 5 років тому +1

      There is a new book out by Tin Can Knits called Strange Brew that discussed all the ways to create colourwork to hide jogs. It basically comes down to large patterns, placing the jog at the center back of the sweater, and small pattern repeats, placing the jog on the back scapula area. Great resource by the way

    Hi Arne & Carlos. A longtime knitter, I feel you're taking my knitting to the next level with your superb tutorials, tips and inspiration. I find I rip back less and I'm becoming more adventurous with colour. I'd love to see how you finish off the underarm seam on sweaters. When I join sleeve to body on a yoked sweater, I end up with a bulky join as I try to avoid underarm holes. At least it's a seam no one can see .... unless I wave my arms about :-)

    Very nice informative tutorial. I wish I had found you on UA-cam some years ago. I used to be afraid of color work because I had tension problems but watching your videos has really helped. Is it possible for you to do a video on picking design elements for a yoked sweater. How do you decide which elements and colors. Do you have recommendations for sources of charts?

    Ok, since you asked for comments.....Based on your previous comments, I was curious to try Norwegian wool and bought Rauma 100% pure wool. It is a bit scratchy and I wonder if you have any recommendations. I was thinking about maybe using a merino yarn for the neck ribbing on a sweater or maybe lining the sweater around the neck? Have you come across this problem? How have people solved it? :0)

When I measure the cuff, based on the rib at the bottom of the main piece and make the sleeve from the cuff upward, I am not sure where to increase. I know from the cuff to the shoulder it gets bigger, but I am not sure when and where to add my increases. Have you ever done a video on that? Thanks!! Xoxo

    I've been trying the Norwegian method to knit and purl instead of throwing, but am having a harder time with tension. I know my issue is with holding the yarn in the left hand. I can see that Arne is holding the yarn over his finger, but the camera does not catch how he holds the yarn with his other fingers. When throwing I usually wind the thread around my left hand in the same way I do with crochet, but although I am doing the same while kitting the Norwegian way my tension is all off-- sort of good/horrible. I have been knitting swatches to try evening my stitches out. I can see I will have to practice for quite a while. Is this just a matter of muscle memory or is there another way to adjust the yarn tension with the left hand?

    • @carolynveith9167

    Hi guys. I've found that some yarns seem to give me uneven stitches. Using Cubic aka square knitting needles eliminates that problem. They also are very comfortable to knit with.
    " Kollege " yarns has kollege square needles. I love the DPNs but I can't recommend the square circular needles. The joins at the cable and the cables themselves are MISERABLE!
