Okay one more compliment! I love how down to earth you both are! Such a delight to watch your videos for the beautiful works and to enjoy you both in your leisure! Thank You Kindly.🌹
Carol Bancroft Love you both! Remember your bird feeder tutorial? I am using the pattern to crochet melon nets for supporting the melons growing in our poly tunnel. My husband is very impressed. Thank you!
Once again, you guys have brought even more knowledge to us. I'm sure many of us "frog" our fabric. As a newbie to knitting, I find I rip out a lot! But I'm figuring that every bit of practice will hopeful one day give me the same quality stitches that are demonstrated in your work. Thanks again as always for explaining the options!
ARNE, You have been so helpful as I try to learn two handed knitting. I found the pick method you use works best for my 76 year old hands. However I would love a slow motion tutorial on purling with this technique. Thanks again for your help and say hi to Carlos as well. Knittingnana
Thanks guys! You answered my question! I really needed your advise on this. I'm fairly new to continental knitting, (taught myself so I could knit faster), but my tension is not as even as it used to be. I'm sticking with it. Sunny hugs
So encouraging to those who are intimidated by colourwork. Everyone should be able to become quite confident with your helpful tips. And the advice to not automatically rip is VERY helpful. Sometimes knitters are too ready to rip if it is not perfect and then they become frustrated and then pretty soon they never want to even try knitting colourwork and they stop knitting altogether. There are other ways to improve and continuing and practice is the only way. Your advice about that can never be emphasized enough. Thank you for another important tutorial by showing how to evaluate your tension.
This video is just what I needed as I’m looking at my hat, there are too loose and too tight stitches. Thought not to rip out but use this experience to learn the Norwegian way of knitting. Hat is for my husband. I’m using cashmere and wool yarn. The feel is so so nice. Thanks again!
Hello Arne and Carlos! I was enjoying the weekly video installment as always and you mentioned bringing up questions so I have some. I'm in the US (upstate NY more specifically) and weaving is becoming really popular here as a craft while making a bit of a comeback in the art world as well. I know you have mentioned that Arne used to work on Finnish Rya rugs in the past. Is he willing to share any of these with us? Also have either of you played around with the smaller lap looms? Or even small branches? People are finding really creative weaving projects for leftover wool yarn and roving. I would love to see a tutorial of this sort of thing if you are working on any related projects.
I heard people speak so kindly of you both and I’ve only had the opportunity to see a few of your videos. Many people just assume you are a couple but when see you, I think you might be brothers. Could you confirm either way for us curious people who have no business asking? Lol. Big hugs from Canada.
Thank you for your explanation. I enrolled in Knit Stars because of you. I never heard of it and now I'm so curious what it will bring. I do have a question: don't you ever get injuries with al that knitting and/or crocheting? Have a lovely evening and greatings from Belgium.
Hello guys, yesterday i received my copy of your new book " favorite designs" one word; LOVELY!!!! Oh my god how i love it. if someone can afford only one of your book it have to be this one. what a wonderful book, so complete, so pretty, colourful and very well explain. Thank you so much for everything (tips and knowledge) you two are sharing with us. :)
Wonderful informational video! Thank you! Can you please do a tutorial on colorwork knitting in the round? How do you avoid a jog in the colorwork? When I start the new round with colorwork , I get ugly stair-step or jogs in the colors. My motif gets all askew and looks really bad at the start of a new round. How can you avoid the ugly stair-steps and have clean circular colorwork in your knitting? Thank you Arne & Carlos!
There is a new book out by Tin Can Knits called Strange Brew that discussed all the ways to create colourwork to hide jogs. It basically comes down to large patterns, placing the jog at the center back of the sweater, and small pattern repeats, placing the jog on the back scapula area. Great resource by the way
Good evening guys once again a pleasure to see you both. Your tips are most helpful. I haven't done colour work in ages for the reasons you've given. Im going to give it another try. Your both a blessing every week without fail you make us smile laugh along with you as well as learning us new ways ond old of doing things. Be good to each other take care till next week. X
Timely tip. I'm working on s sweater now and noticing some tension issues after a couple of hours knitting. Carlos great lines on that sweater you're wearing!
Hi Arne & Carlos. A longtime knitter, I feel you're taking my knitting to the next level with your superb tutorials, tips and inspiration. I find I rip back less and I'm becoming more adventurous with colour. I'd love to see how you finish off the underarm seam on sweaters. When I join sleeve to body on a yoked sweater, I end up with a bulky join as I try to avoid underarm holes. At least it's a seam no one can see .... unless I wave my arms about :-)
Very helpful video once again. My tension is good when doing the baubles and eggs. I’ve just done a detailed Mitt and I’m not happy and after seeing your video I wish I didn’t weave the ends in. I’m going to have to just start over now. 😕 just to many of the tighter stitches like Arnes demo on the bottom.
Very nice informative tutorial. I wish I had found you on UA-cam some years ago. I used to be afraid of color work because I had tension problems but watching your videos has really helped. Is it possible for you to do a video on picking design elements for a yoked sweater. How do you decide which elements and colors. Do you have recommendations for sources of charts?
ARNE & CARLOS Thank you soooo much for every thing you do , but have you ever done a knitting tutorial for toe socks , for all 5 toe's or for flipflop socks ????
Thank you both so much, with your help and instruction I put some colorwork into a cowl and I did pretty good! (Well enough to post it on instagram , Lol) again Thank you. ❤️😁👍🏻
Hi Arne&Carlos, Thank you for sharing this tutorial:) I have been knitting a cowl practicing colour work, I think my tension is getting better as I am reaching the end. I am so keen to make a nice Norwegian hat😀 Love your tutorials, and podcasts, I love listening to you both,so relaxing. KimXX
Ok, since you asked for comments.....Based on your previous comments, I was curious to try Norwegian wool and bought Rauma 100% pure wool. It is a bit scratchy and I wonder if you have any recommendations. I was thinking about maybe using a merino yarn for the neck ribbing on a sweater or maybe lining the sweater around the neck? Have you come across this problem? How have people solved it? :0)
Hello! Would you please do a tutorial on how to wind a center-pull ball of yarn from a hank? I do not have a ball winder, but I have used a kitchen-whisk as a nostepinne!
Hi Arne en Carlos. I like You Both. You are Just a great combination. I am a started knitter because of You Both. You are my inspiration. I have a question. Which is for You a good number of needles and yarn (kind and thickness)? Sorry, my English is nog that good. I come from Peru btw. Greetings
So nice to see you again! Best part of my weekend :). I have a question. I am working on a jacket and following your great tutorial where Arne made one for Carlos. When I measure the cuff, based on the rib at the bottom of the main piece and make the sleeve from the cuff upward, I am not sure where to increase. I know from the cuff to the shoulder it gets bigger, but I am not sure when and where to add my increases. Have you ever done a video on that? Thanks!! Xoxo
Love watching you two.I am knitting my second Christmas sock and some Christmas balls .my question is any hope of a new Christmas sock pattern to go with the other one .thanks sue
Love your videos and you two!!! Thk u sooo much! How is a Duplicate Stitch worked? I also wondered at your Sock and Doll Videos....🤔 thx u very much 🤗😍😘
One thing I've been struggling with is that my purl stitches are always a bit looser than my knit stitches and so when I knit stockinette back and forth I always have one row of bigger stitches and one row of tight ones... How do you avoid that?
Maybe for the next video you could explain gauge...i understand so many rows should be so many inches but when reading a selbuvotter pattern I have seen 38x38 or 25x25 what does that mean?
Hello! I'm a quarter of a way through a knit scarf (English rib) and have super uneven edges, the scarf has got curves and bumps on the edges :(. Would you recommend blocking the project before fixing it or should I just go right in as soon as I finish knitting?
I'm hoping you can help me with a knitting question. I am knitting a christmas stocking and i am new to color work. I want to put a design only on one side and was wondering if i have to carry my accent color all the way around the back side or is there another way?
Hi Michelle, here is a tutorial on catching floats on colour work ua-cam.com/video/vpRMXdfcHPU/v-deo.html and another one where we talk about stranded color work ua-cam.com/video/37M1exzoYU0/v-deo.html
I've been trying the Norwegian method to knit and purl instead of throwing, but am having a harder time with tension. I know my issue is with holding the yarn in the left hand. I can see that Arne is holding the yarn over his finger, but the camera does not catch how he holds the yarn with his other fingers. When throwing I usually wind the thread around my left hand in the same way I do with crochet, but although I am doing the same while kitting the Norwegian way my tension is all off-- sort of good/horrible. I have been knitting swatches to try evening my stitches out. I can see I will have to practice for quite a while. Is this just a matter of muscle memory or is there another way to adjust the yarn tension with the left hand?
Hi guys. I've found that some yarns seem to give me uneven stitches. Using Cubic aka square knitting needles eliminates that problem. They also are very comfortable to knit with. " Kollege " yarns has kollege square needles. I love the DPNs but I can't recommend the square circular needles. The joins at the cable and the cables themselves are MISERABLE!
newe4me The sweater I am wearing in the video is not designed by us and was purchased in Paris a number of years ago. So there is no pattern available.
great video! I am Canadian but live in the US. The barrage of Trumpian news on TV has caused my tension to be all over the place. The tension is literally ruining my tension! So until Trump is gone I have to protect my knitting, therefore I got rid of my tv! lol
oh wow!
How nice to pick up my knitting after 10 years and seeing new male faces!
Thank you for making video Content🥹❤️❤️
One of the things I like most about your tutorials is that I never feel judged!
No judging in knitting❤️
I think that this is a sign of a very good teacher. Arne is such a good teacher and very humble.
I am to old to doing it like you do I knitting for the letzt 70 years.but I like you and I always luck. Thank you tow
Thanks I've been messing mine up this is 4th failed attempt at knitting but I'm keeping at it joined following u guys thanks.
You are welcome!
Poor tension is the bane of my existence! Thank you so much for this video and all the others, they've been invaluable to me!
Witam 🤗 cielawy wzór i pracochłonny. Na czapki sweterki.

I made a sweater, and I took your hints. Perhaps I might not have to unravel. TKU again...😊
You are welcome!
Thanks gentlemen. I hope to start practicing soon so I am ready for Knit Stars.

This is exactly the problem I am experiencing. Couldn't figure out what was happening. Thanks so much

I learn from every video, true, but you two always put a smile on my face as well. Thank you for brightening up my day.

I see nothing but perfection in that project. LOL. Thank you for the tip. 💖
You are welcome!
This tip is just what I needed today, Arne & Carlos! I had some loose stitches in a sock and it was driving me crazy.
Now, all is good, thanks to you.
Love watching you guys!! Can you please show a baby cardigan tutorial? Would love to follow your ideas on that.
Thank you for another informative video. I just love watching you both.
Good Morning Arne, Carlos! Thank You both so much! As designers, Your tips are such a blessing♥️🌹❣️

Thank you both so much, with your help and instruction I put some colorwork into a cowl and I did pretty good! (Well enough to post it on instagram , Lol) again Thank you. ❤️😁👍🏻
Hi Arne&Carlos,
Thank you for sharing this tutorial:)
I have been knitting a cowl practicing colour work,
I think my tension is getting better as I am reaching the end.
I am so keen to make a nice Norwegian hat😀
Love your tutorials, and podcasts, I love listening to you both,so relaxing.

What's a cowl?
A cowl is like a scarf knitted in a circle, to go around your neck:)
Love the video..as usual. I have to think about my tension on color work but it works out. Have a great evening?
Please do a tutorial on facings for knitting projects. Thanks!
I love your videos! I missed you when you were at Blazing Needles in SLC. I hope to meet you guys are in the USA again.
Very helpful tutorial. Do either of you have any creative ways to re-purpose swatches? It always seams a waste to just unravel them.
So glad to see your tips..
Thank you so much!
Thank you for the tip..
Thank you!

Hi Arne & Carlos! What is your favorite time of year at your home? For me, I love when lilacs are blooming in the springtime here in Michigan. Thanks.
Love watching you two.I am knitting my second Christmas sock and some Christmas balls .my question is any hope of a new Christmas sock pattern to go with the other one .thanks sue

OK, I found your video on this. My purling is still looser than my knitting, but I'm sure it's a matter of practice. Off to do another swatch!
Hello, love your show. Do you have a pattern for a snood?
I enjoyed this video! I look forward to Sunday's knowing there will be a new video from you both. Love from Alaska.
I have a question about tension squares and tension squares in the round how do you do them please help
Hi Carole, do you mean how to do gauge swatches? We haven’t done a tutorial on the yet.
How to knit evenly please
Here are more knitting tricks: ua-cam.com/play/PLElv_tSbHW3pVZsDbX2AtDgi4lN6svYdJ.html&si=tvJLJOiUIFKPiC4z
Have you ever heard of using one size smaller needle for the purl side than the knit side? I’ve never seen the benefit of it.
We thank that if you work on your tension you will get it right.

Please don’t let Carlos explain things. He is totally confusing
Thank you for your feedback
Carlos is always Arne which is irritating
What do you mean Anna?
