Thanks for the video. I swapped my subframe out yesterday, and trying to get the nut back on the bolt for the steering rack was a nightmare, the only way I could manage it was to hold the nut with long nose pliers and just keep turning the bolt until it caught. I was worried about losing the nut in the subframe though as I dropped it a couple times but managed to fish it out with a magnet.
@@6uiltdifferent Cheers Ted, going to get the frame powder coated now. I snapped the head off a bolt from the lower control arm where it goes into that aluminium block, I had replacement arms to go on the car so that's not a problem, but any ideas how I get the bolt out now? There's about 7mm of bolt sticking out, I don't have a welder. It's weird because of the 4 bolts in these aluminium blocks, 2 from either side were really binding trying to undo them and the other 2 came out with not much effort at all. With it being aluminium you wouldn't expect corrosion to be the cause either.
you can certainly to this stuff. i take my hat off to you. i didn't quite spot what that special tool was and what you did with it. sorry to be thick. doing the job myself next week.
very nice work. Personally, I would still get rid of the rust at those fairings and then it will be top. I understand it's pretty bad on the street. I keep my fingers crossed for further improvements
Thanks bud much appreciated and don’t worry it’s in the plans but I won’t be doing it myself due to not having the time and other projects so this one will be sent away
I took the subframe off mine when I had to replace the gearbox (diff blew up) and clutch and driveshaft but this was on a hydraulic lift made it a lot easier still cost over £500 with a second hand gearbox, new crank seal engine-gearbox oil etc
@@RoryMacdonald1337 it’s hard to say but I’d say it makes a difference as you get less vibration through the wheel and the steering feels a lot tighter defo worth the £30
Hi Ted can I ask how much you paid to have your subframe powder coated? I approached a local powder coat firm who shot blasted my calipers recently, and they quoted £65 to blast/prime/powder coat my subframe/antisway bar, seems way too cheap to my mind.
@@6uiltdifferent sure thing.. I'm thinking 19mm is standard, but some are 18 for some ford reason. (Thou should be zetec s) ordered 19mm so will measure it when it doesn't or does fit..😂
Drawing the 18 turns on the arch liner is my favourite 😂😂 great vid bro that new stuff looks sweet 😍

Where are the solid steering rack bushes from mate? Much needed front end overhaul due very soon on my ST
Hi buddy they’re from Kinzy fabrications

I approached a local powder coat firm who shot blasted my calipers recently, and they quoted £65 to blast/prime/powder coat my subframe/antisway bar, seems way too cheap to my mind.
The price for the subframe wishbones and roll bar to be coated was £260
19mm ARB Bushes?
Hey came with the roll bar so not sure they vastly do I’d just measure the one you’ve got
