Awesome!!! I just got signal from a local repeater. I only have my GMRS license and i believe this is a HAM repeater soni will need to get my HAM license in order to do more than listen. However, at least i know this works. This is the best video ive seen for programming the UV5R, thank you.

Can you explain the Encode - Decode because these and many of the columns are known by many names and this gets confusing. I:e Transmit is also Decode and Output? Terminology isn't very standardized? at least in Chirp and the various CPS sofwares.
not only the channel number show "+-" on the display, if you want to verify your saved settings in this channel, the SFT-D (menu #25) = "OFF" and the "OFFSET" (menu #26) = "000.000".. so, the only way to know if that work is to push the transmit button and wait the repeater response (if you are not too far of it).. you don't have to save two times, the first ("receiving memory" message) save your settings.. also, the best way to see what are all your settings is using the program "chirp" with a true "FTDI" serial wire adapter (you can download from it all repeaters in your area and select the "band" for to avoid hundreds of them)..
Problem I found is, we have to delete chennel even if we want to change it update on setting of a particular chennel which is stored.thats not good of baofeng

How to set on VHF ?
