I make my own impulse responses for recording since I’ve had so many cabs and speakers. I may have to check out these to compare mine with or combine them 😎🤘🏽
i love this channel and how to choose to carry your personality through on camera man. everything is just amazing, hope you stick at all this and go as far as possible!
I got this pack. It is fantastic. That Splawn sounds so mean and aggressive! Sounds great with this pack. Only wish is for WOS to allow an export function so we can use in our modelers. C'mon Two Notes! Great job Kyle 👍
I just recently picked up the Two Notes Opus, and have been diving into the the Dyn IR "world." It is pretty crazy how much you can do with these. I may or may not have bought like 20 cabs from their website to go with the 40ish that come with the Opus.
hey kyle, probably a long winded question here, sorry but its a burning question ive got. can you use an ABY box to send one guitar through two completely different signal chains? for example: can i put one guitar into an ABY box, and send the separate outputs through their own unique boosts, eq pedals, amps and cabs? to emulate the effect of two guitarists? (thats the end of my question, but for reference my desired rig is below) telecaster with hot rail bridge pickup, into ABY box signal chain 1: friedman be-od, mxr 10band eq, synergy friedman BE module, duncan power stage 200, marshall 4×12. signal chain 2: boss sd-1, mxr 10band eq, synergy bogner überschall module, duncan power stage 200, marshall 4×12. any info is really appreciated, keep puttin out banger videos!!
Hey, just wondering if you’ve tried the Fortin Tempest at all? Wondering if it’s a similar circuit to the MXR Badass OD given that the high and low shelf on it could potentially be relabelled tone and bass control knobs. Would be awesome if it is as I’ve just picked up a used MXR for £40 and the Fortin is £270 🤯
I have an evh 5150iii combo and it has the ability to have 4, 8, and q6 ohm output. The captor x offers a 16ohm and 8 ohm version, unsure whitch way to go. My speakers in the evh are wired in series 16ohm. Any input on which way to go with this ?
would love to see someone get the scott ian camo marshall cab and get those celestion g 80s some impulse reponses made ... that s.o.d and among the living tone is godly
I don't actually. I had to go back and get the screen grabs a second time that you see in the video because my original got deleted. Good catch though!
Yes. Although the term "soak" has some negative connotations. Well at least to us old timers who used those old crap ass "soaks" they were selling in the late 80's and 90's. The Captor X is a new breed of device. I think they are referred to as reactive load boxes. Which is a more accurate description. You can use the Captor X and NOT have a spkr plugged into the Captor X's spkr output. You would be using the Captor X as a way of loading down the amps output level to only use the Captor X's XLR outs. The Captor X does have a 3 way selectable spkr output switch though. So if you are using spkrs in your rig the Captor X would act as a reactive load and it would at least give you the ability to pad down the signal somewhat. @ 00:36 into this video he shows the back of the Captor X. You'll notice the red 1/4" spkr jack... to the left of that red jack is the little 3 way switch that selects the hi / med / low output levels... if your using a spkr in your set up. I'm not. I don't need guitar spkrs.. I am doing everything thru headphones. I have 2 of the 8 ohm Captor X's. I run my guitar into a 3 Ch. Lehle (A,B,C) splitter. So it'll send the signal to one of 3 tube amps. Amp 1 = hand made 1962 Fender clone I built for my cleans. Ch2 goes to a hand made 1968 Marshall Superlead clone I built for my crunch. And Ch3 goes into my Kemper which I primarily use for my heavy / lead tones. I use the Top Jimi profiles a lot and I us a Fortin Cali profile a lot recently too. The 2 Captor X's and the Kemper all come out in stereo via XLRs into my 16 Ch mixer. The mixer combines the 6 channels of guitar and the stereo outs from my computer so I can play guitar thru headphones at any level I want at anytime of the day or night I want. I even use the mixer's Aux sends as FX sends to reverbs delays fx etc. Totally awesome sounds !! While playing thru the headphones it's like your IN the band ! It's so much fun. Almost as much fun as playing super loud thru guitar cabs and having music blasting thru PA spkrs. If you live in a situation where you can't play LOUD. Go with the Captor X's. No guitar spkr cabs needed. I have been playing Metal for 40+ yrs. And I started out in high school in the early 80's building my own fx pedals and guitars.... and then finally tube amps about 25 yrs ago. I was always playing LOUD because I lived in a house that had no close neighbors. So I had a dozen hand built 100 watt tube amps going into 4 4x12 cabs. But then about 20yrs ago my living situation changed. I moved into a condo so I couldn't play loud anymore. So my tube amps sat there collecting dust. I had developed a head phone rig in 2002 that sounded really good. So that became my rig. Then i bought a Kemper in 2013. So I was still playing guitar and loving life... thru headphones. About 2 yrs ago I was almost ready to sell off all those handbuilt amps I made... because they were just sitting there collecting dust. Then the Captor X came out. WOW... it's soo cool now. I am using all my tube amps once again. I love the Captor X's. In fact I rarely play the Kemper anymore. LOLS... I'm gonna buy a 3rd Captor X unit.. because I'm working on a Fortin Cali clone... that'll be my super heavy / Lead tone.. Sorry to ramble. Hope this all helped. Good luck and have fun... THATs what its all about.
Do you have a Morley Wah/Fuzz pedal? Slow down a bit on your axe and holy crap does it sound awesome. Also, I would love to hear you jam with a drummer and a base. No vocalist needed. Possibly just two dueling guitars.
Here's an idea for an experiment. Use the 7B on the G12 65 cab IR. Have the splawn go into the two notes and them boom, you have a really close rendition of Metallica's Ride the Lightning guitar tone.
Man I want a Two Notes Captor X but my 24th Wedding Anniversary is on the 30th. The ring I'm looking at costs about the same as the 2 notes, I don't think my wife would be happy with the 2 notes
I was expecting you to use the Torpedo Remote software. Surprised me that you would use the Wall of Sound. Iv used W.O.S before. I prefer the Torpedo Remote. But hey... each to their own. Really enjoying your content lately. Keep up the good work!
Hey Harlan, I have 2 of the Captor X's. I didn't know you could use the wall of sound operating system on the Captor X's .. ? I use the Captor X Remote software too. I might try it... although you were saying you didn't like it... why not? I'm just curious. Thanks and have a great day.
@@JoeGuitar Hey Joe. I tried Wall Of Sound a few years ago. I used my Marshall JMP1 preamp with the W.O.S power amp and speaker simulator. But i was never that happy with the sound. IRs and amp sims are super popular, but they do nothing for me. Watched the whole video and it sounds good, but real amps and cabs are what drew me to the channel. Just my opinion.
@@belligerentamateur shit I don’t like jamming on IR’s but for recording they are great. I can take a whole year to make a song if I want and have the same cab sound 🤷🏽♂️. But of course standing in front of a pounding high gain amp and cab is much more inspiring to riff on. There’s a place for both 😎🤘🏽

Awesome Video Kyle! 🤘
I literally just received the video notification... FROM YESTERDAY'S VIDEO! UA-cam is seriously slipping
Would not normally pick these ir's but damn they do sound really good
Also have you tried ex gear pedals ? I just picked one up it blew my mind excellent pedal
For the two notes stuff I usually put the mic about 15% off center as I find this sounds like the "cap meets the cone sweet spot"
What about distance for metal stuff, right up against the cabinet?
@@DC-uk9pg I always use distance at minimum, right against the cab.
You have the secondary cab on in wall of sound so you’re actually hearing another cab blended with the Friedman IR’s.
