I love Brene’s continued work on defining empathy. Having tough conversations without armor in trusting relationships is what this book does so well! Love it!
I really, really wish there were videos here on UA-cam regarding what we're witnessing today in terms of what is happening politically with our Democracy teetering on the edge of its own demise. Where is Brene Brown when we need her?
I'm still avoiding some tough conversations, because: - they can be still quite taxing -> my need to manage energy levels - I don't see effort from the other side -> I don't think it would lead to any change - Sometimes I only notice later that my boundaries were broken
Try looking in a dumpster, which is where rubbish like this belongs. And learn to read more substantial books for a change. This woman has made a fortune peddling nonsense to the gullible. You're better than that and she doesn't think so. But I do.
What if you dared to lead and then you got politically persecuted and jailed?...for example, there are political leaders in Venezuela who dared to lead and they were jailed, or murdered. :-(
Every Dream has a price. Ask Martin Luther King Jr. Gandhi, Malcolm X, John F. Kennedy. The question is are you willing to pay the price. Do not Persecute the Brave and do not glorify the cowards who want you to stay quiet. Araci, I would love to hear your thoughts on this.
And there is a problem with this sales pitch in relation to vulnerability. To practice being vulnerable is to learn to handle vulnerability. So far so good. But wait - once we have learned to handle vulnerability - hey presto - we are not courageous anymore. Courage is required when one cannot learn to handle vulnerability. Now this self-help philosophy is great. I genuinely believe she IS quite great . I have read her stuff and practice my vulnerability. But this trick cancels itself out. I am living with my vulnerability and becoming wiser as a result. I have processed my vulnerability and continue to do so. I therefore no longer require courage because processing my vulnerability makes me stronger. So I have done the work. Then what ? I walk into a warzone and get shot ? Any comments welcome. I doubt I will get any because I have probably confused you. Can you read ? Or are you too busy being enfatuated with the beautiful soul sister Brene Brown ? And she is beautiful ! Like a Goddess. But I see an error under the wonderful mask of humility.
I dont agree with the notion that there is no courage without vulnerability. One time, I saw a woman on the street, beating up her dog. I stopped and pulled her by her arm and was pretty clear what I think about it., She stopped. I did not feel vulnerable, simple because of the fact that she was smaller and fragiler than me, and (this is my assumption of course), she did not have a gun. Thus, what could she do against me? These situations happen all the time - as we speak. VULNERABILITY IS NOT NEEDED IN EVERY ACT OF COURAGE.
You took a risk...as small as it may be, you weighed whether or not there were any bad things that could happen, subconsciously or consciously “she was smaller and fragiler than me, and she did not have a gun” you were weighing the risk. One of the 3 things she mentioned
God forbid that CBS discuss ....ideas! Especially, ideas that encourage people to be more courageous and emotionally literate, instead of being scared and vulnerable to manipulation, by authoritarian, opportunist leaders.
I like what she says about different aspects of life. But I cannot help but see that she is exhausted. Maybe she should take care of herself not only other people. 💕
Wow, you're right. It's almost like they think we're 50% of the population or the 50s are over or something. This particular segment doesn't really mention us though, just uses a female who wrote a book that can benefit both sexes. When will they go back to catering to men, and white ones at that? It is so unfair and biased of them to barely start to even things out.
Mick Butler - if it's her copy she can do what she wants with it. She can always buy a "show" copy. People are allowed to underline or highlight text that they find compelling and they are allowed to write in the margins. It's their book. Just like you can alter the clothes you buy.
This woman is laughing all the way to the bank. Anybody who can make a fortune peddling BS to the gullible has to be admired, in a dark sort of way. As such, self help literature has become one of America's more questionable cultural institutions. P T Barnum was right 150 years ago and remains right. For those who don't get the historical reference (and I'm sure you don't if you take this woman seriously), Barnum's the guy who said "there's a sucker born every minute."
Paula, why are you so negative? What's going on with your life to make you say such sad things? I'm not asking to be rude or anything I want to know what when wrong? Where you're not fulfilled and how I can help? tdouglas2018@gmail.com
Fear based leadership is not long term sustainable. She's right.
Please donate this book to all members of congress!
mostly the GOP
Her book daring greatly changed my life. People who are guarded have a lot of shame. Say No to Shame. Only way for authentic leadership and confidence
@Silvia Path Sounds like you could use a little vulnerability!

Reading her book right now! Brilliant and insightful, I've learned so much already and only halfway through
Brene Brown changed (and continues to change my life). She is essential to me. I'm so grateful I found her.
Seriously? I don’t think so
Love this woman so much!!!

Listening to this book on audible! Her voice is comforting and encouraging in the book and here ❤️👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 #goodread

"Preach sister, preach!" Is there drama within the CBS leadership? Because that expression at 6:02 definitely came from a deep emotion there.

The real king values!
Got it from amazon.
what is the book on the leadership she is talking about in the interview? at 4:33.
Perhaps this one:
Leadership: In Turbulent Times Doris Kearns Goodwin
I love brene

@Silvia Path that is not what she is meaning.
araci ferreira she’s saying that taking risks or facing fear is courageous.

Brené The next president?
Amen.
meh. just attaching a word to something that has been done for centuries, great marvelous "insight" right there.
This is rad
Clear is kind
Unclear is unkind
I never understand the comment "I don't want to get political," because, when you think about it, e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g is politics; everything.

Most of us could use some serious self-help; some of us are too afraid to accept that vulnerability though, even having to ridicule it.
Tell this to Joe Biden and his campaign.

I can't BELIEVE he brought that joker up. What a crock. Did you LOOK at they impact he has had and HOW he accomplished that junk?

Did he just praise Trump?
I didn't take it as praising him but more observing the results of trump's bullyishness.
This is Trump to the T!!! ❤

Seems like CBS is only doing stories on more women every morning.
Ms. Brown is talking about things that need to be talked about. How can we make our work relationships better? Good segment.
The world needs more people like Brene Brown

Brene just popped Trump and Putin's balloons (ego)...
Ms Brown needs to research the meaning of mythology as she does not understand and does not use the word properly.
Norah M.I.L.F. ❤
Not really. A bit heavy.
Sounds like shes describing the dems, preying on fear and uncertainty.
Oh please with the politics. Stick to vulnerability please.
