Reindeer Games (alternatively titled Deception) is a 2000 American action thriller film directed by John Frankenheimer in his final feature directorial outing before his 2002 death. It stars Ben Affleck, Gary Sinise, Charlize Theron, Dennis Farina, James Frain, Donal Logue, Danny Trejo, and Clarence Williams III. The film revolves around ex-convict Rudy Duncan, who is dragged into a situation against his will: he must help a group of thieves rob a casino in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, or he will be killed.

Reindeer Games is the reason Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer has some different words in my household. It now goes "they would let poor Rudolph join in any reindeer games... like bank robbery"

Agreed. ESPECIALLY when it's so close to Christmas and prisoners don't have much to look forward to. The jello/desert could be one of the very few things that can get them through the day. I'd feel like rioting myself.
I’m gonna be honest, critic is right. 4:00 is the weirdest reason to have a prison riot. Imagine if they took over the whole prison like sometimes happens irl and when the police are able to negotiate and ask what’s wrong the media learns “they’re really angry they were fed roach infested jello during Christmas” 😭 🤣
I mean, roach-infested jello is a clear sign that the prison kitchen is horribly maintained and is infested with pests. That kind of stuff can get a restaurant permanently shut down and the owner jailed. And yet prisoners are just supposed to put up with stuff like that? I’d riot too
Food can be one of the very few humanizing things when you are locked up. It's something that many of the inmates take really seriously and if you mess with something that can be considered a treat like jello, it can become the straw that breaks the camel's back.

@@zerentheunskilled that makes sense. My mom was in the military and she said during boot camp you would trade anything you had for the bag of skittles from the person lucky enough to find one in their MRE even your entire lunch just to taste something good for once.

I've never seen this movie before in my life. I had no idea it was supposed to be nostalgic xD. I guess any movie can be nostalgic if enough people like it. I like James Frain. Too bad he doesn't last long in this movie.

Wild that this was the last movie John Frankenheimer directed before his death in 2002. Then again, its better than _The Island of Dr. Moreau_ and he did the excellent _Ronin_ between the two.

This movie was about 2 things for me when I first saw it at 18 years old. And they were located just below Charlize Theron’s neck. Yes, it was the year 2000.

I believe the original was Age-Restricted for the Ben Affleck and Charlize Theron sex scene at 6:22 in the original video. Also part of the original video was at 4:41.
It's a shame because I enjoyed the little joke about Santa looking at his naughty list and saying, "Sweet Jesus! Does Krampus know this guy's a thing!?"

The squirt gun filled with alcohol made me laugh out loud. I saw this as a kid, but I don't recall most of it.
I remember my uncle had rented this and I went in blind like 25 years ago. Say what you will but the “I had better sex in prison” line had me dying. 😂

I can't believe I've never watched this movie. The fictional location it's set in might as well be the UP town where I went to high school, which has a maximum security prison and an Indian casino.

This was the last film of John Frankenheimer, a very talented directtor. He directed amazing political thrillers/dramas, The Manchurian Candidate. The Train, Seven Days in May, Black Sunday, Ronin, just to name a few.

Why Nick being alive at the end a bad twist? Nostalgic Critic made a lot of noises but never explained. It's pretty easy to pay off prisoners to attack you in prison. While he's in P.C, he can easily spread the rumor of his death and how he doesn't feel safe. It only had to hold up a couple of hours before bens release.
