I watched all three last Yule with the wife and ended up liking this one now more then when it came out. The explosion felt more like it was joking about movies having an explosion, and I don't feel like the the colors were dull or blurred, but that might be a difference in the version being streamed and modern screens. Also saw the CG one for the first time and it was better then I expected. I suppose I was in a better mood throughout this holiday season, so that might have helped too.
Now we just need the original edits for Casper and Eight Crazy Nights. Or in the latter’s case at least trim down Whitey’s narration of the backstory so the joke makes sense.
I've been watching Nostalgia Critic since he was on "That Guy with the Glasses" and I wondered where the end of this episode was! Thank you for uploading! The cartoon Grinch is my personal favorite, but I do really like Jim Carey and his take on a classic.
1:59 - 2:05 To be fair, a few Dr. Seuss books were based on very dark matter tied to real life stuff that was occurring while Seuss wrote them like Yertle the Turtle being based on Hitler and his conquest for Europe, The Sneetches based on the Segregation Era and The Butter Battle Book during the then ongoing Cold War Era. Heck, those books would probably be rated PG if they were given film ratings, especially The Butter Battle Book.
To me this will always be my favorite version, don't get me wrong the original is awesome so bright and colorful and Boris Karloff narration is an all time classic. However this movie is what got me into watching the original Grinch cartoon.
I love this film, and I’ll still put it on every Christmas. Yes it has flaws but I admire Jim’s acting: He really brings the grinch to life. And even though the screen looks foggy, it reflects the materialistic nature of the who’s.
I have both the original animated version and the Jim Carrey version on DVD. I like them both each in their own unique way. I do agree that the dog butt scene was vile, though, and should have been omitted.
I'm only 25, but when I was a kid the animated original scared me more then the live action. I used to refuse to watch it. But when the cat and the hat came out me and my mom watched it TWICE in a row at the theater. I acknowledge the flaws in these movies ESPECIALLY THE CAT AND THE HAT! But at the time, those were the jokes and that's what worked. Being the audience it was made for at the time. Every kid I knew, including me, loved it. 😂 It hasn't aged well, but we ate it up as kids.
At least this version is better than the OTHER live action version of the grinch…sorry, I meant, the OTHER TWO live action versions of the grinch. The musical and the horror movie.
For those wondering what the difference is, the previous UA-cam upload ends after he says "I'm the Nostalgia Critic. I remember it so you don't have to." This one has the extra ending that parodies the end of the Grinch. I have no clue why they edited that out. Makes me wonder how many other older reviews on here have stuff removed for no reason.
At least, in this version, the Grinch's past make sense; he was bullied during Christmas so he leave the town and live alone, hating the Hollyday. Also, Jim carrey is a good singer; his version of the theme song is great, it's not a boring rap like in Illumination's grinch 😑The grinch is really evil, he burned the giant tree AND stole a old man as well as a car. In the other movie he knocked a snowman's head, that's not cruel that's a bit annoying. Cindy lou is cute in this movie. I like her hair, she is kind and brave. A nice kid!
Twas the month after Christmas in January the critic video uploaded on Sunday was not ordinary. A comment was confused, yet this made him amused. This poem is off, although but hey atleast this was not seen by Toph. Good thing too for the dudette because I can't sing we're not going to be a duet. All things to find one verse this poem is done so it won't get worse.

I liked it. I didn't think I would going in. Carrey caries the film.

Still can’t believe Critic did this whole thing in rhyme
I'm only 25, but when I was a kid the animated original scared me more then the live action. I used to refuse to watch it. But when the cat and the hat came out me and my mom watched it TWICE in a row at the theater. I acknowledge the flaws in these movies ESPECIALLY THE CAT AND THE HAT! But at the time, those were the jokes and that's what worked. Being the audience it was made for at the time. Every kid I knew, including me, loved it. 😂 It hasn't aged well, but we ate it up as kids.
I LOVE The Grinch he's my #1 xmas figure
lol The beginning and ending was priceless! Great impression of the Grinch!!Great review!
Glad you enjoyed it!
This movie has something for everybody, it really delivers.
This is my favorite Christmas movie.
This opener is the most self aware thing you have ever done
I haven't watched this review in so long, I forgot that he rhymes through the whole thing XD
At least this version is better than the OTHER live action version of the grinch…sorry, I meant, the OTHER TWO live action versions of the grinch. The musical and the horror movie.
Another New and Improved Version of an OG Nostalgia Critic Movie
For those wondering what the difference is, the previous UA-cam upload ends after he says "I'm the Nostalgia Critic. I remember it so you don't have to." This one has the extra ending that parodies the end of the Grinch.
I have no clue why they edited that out. Makes me wonder how many other older reviews on here have stuff removed for no reason.
Casper review also had stuff removed from it as well, hope that one gets uploaded next.
One of Doug’s best reviews. Not too over the top and cleverly written!
I'm just happy we have a hd version
Hard to believe that the actress who played Cindy would grow up to be the lead singer of The Pretty Reckless
Still watch it every December
You gotta hand it to Doug he sure does know how to rhyme.
A nice kid!
Fun fact The Grinch Jim Carrey movie was my 1st & favorite DVD I ever owned as a kid since 2001
Of course ya gotta include the original ending of this episode after so long. 🤭
I’m pretty confident that the Critic loss his sanity a long time ago most likely breaking here
Twas the month after Christmas in January the critic video uploaded on Sunday was not ordinary. A comment was confused, yet this made him amused. This poem is off, although but hey atleast this was not seen by Toph. Good thing too for the dudette because I can't sing we're not going to be a duet. All things to find one verse this poem is done so it won't get worse.
This is not the original edit. The background music was changed due to copyright from the original edit.
This is my favirote adaptation of the grinch staring the nostalgia critic
