My husband just bought me this exact machine. I just made my first project on it and I am in love! This machine is a huge game changer for making bags. Huge difference from my old machine to this one.
I did not know this machine had a trap door. Oh my the things I learn watching you. Thank you so much.
i ALSO LEARNED THIS! wHO KNEW.
@@kaywhaley6694 I just cleaned my machine. It was so easy.
Always good to read the manual.
Its in there. ❤❤
The best review for this machine, I hope you don't remove or delete this video, It's very informative and helpful Thank You so much 🙏🏻😭💗👏🏻
And now I want a Juki 😊
I initially started looking into juki because of your recommendation. I opted for the TL-2010q only for the speed control because I’m reckless. I couldn’t be happier. Worth every cent!
Does the 2010 come with the extension table and feet?
@@lindalee9177 mine did come with the extension table and just the free motion foot, zipper foot and 1/4 inch foot. I think the 2000 comes with the extension table too but I’m not positive.
I just brought this model. Thank you for the first video that explains some of the features. Even though I have the manual it’s good to actually see it done!
I ordered this machine soon after seeing this video... it arrived today. Can't wait to straighten up by sewing area and start having fun sewing again!! Thanks for your help.
I have the same exact machine. Love it. I couldn’t get the thread cutter on the pedal to work the right way. Since you showed it in the video now I understand it better. Also you used the needle threader so easy. I tried for a half hour and still could do it. I’ll have to try it again. Thanks again for another great tutorial!!
I love my machine. Bought it when it first came out so I paid more at the time. Great for quilting, piecing, and free motion quilting!!!
Thanks for the review and I appreciate your video! Happy sewing 🧵!
I appreciate one comment specifically. I would of never quessed that you used a home machine to quilt your quilts. Im stunned by that! I have a very old 30 years singer machine that does nearly everything. But I never quilted on it. Maybe I have too many layers if fill in my quilts. In 6 months I will be buying a new machine. I will keep this in mind. Tfs.
I wanted to say thank you so much! My husband wanted to buy me a new machine and this review was deciding factor for me. It's on the way...YAY!!
Oh good, I hope you love it!
Great video you have shared things that i havent seen before..im considering this machine so ive been searching what i can these past couple years ..your video was very helpful thank you....💕
I've been on a waiting list for service for my 25 year old Viking since last October. Your video helped me decide to buy this Juki. Can't wait!
Oh, I hope you love it!! :)
I’ve been wondering about this machine and now I think this is the one - great value for price. Great info on deep cleaning!!
I bought the Juki Haruka and I totally love it! I can mend my boys' jeans with no worries and go through many layers, no problem! I think I have been putting too much oil in though-I get oil everywhere! I don't get too much lint using Gutermann thread. Wonderful machine:)
Can anybody donate me this machine i cant afford it . But I needed. 😭
Thank you! Thank you! I bought this wonderful machine a month ago because I loved all the comments from you about it. I have been a bit intimidated and haven't touched it. I'm going to this weekend. Yay! Thank you!
I’ve had mine for over a year before I used it! I was afraid! I started a few weeks ago, and I love it! Good luck! You will love yours too.
@@joannemaestri1918 thank you for the encouragement. I just love it! Tomorrow is the day! :)
I just got the TL-2020PE, so far it’s been pretty awesome.
Thank you for this review! I was sold on it after watching you go over all the features. Picked one up today 🙌🏻
Hope you enjoy it!
Thank You for showing this video. Everything was clearly explained. I learned how to take the machine apart to give it a good cleaning. So appreciated your “How To’.
About the most informative video I have seen on the 2000qi !! Impressive !!!
Thank you I am going to buy this now. Love how easy you made free motion quilting look!
Just got a juki tl 2010q. So glad to that you can freemotion a large quilt on it!
I purchased this Juki because I saw you using it. I do not regret doing it as I love mine. However I paid more and didn’t get the free motion foot. Thanks for the review
I purchased this machine from Amazon as well and didn't get the free motion or 1/4 " foot. However, I absolutely love my TL 2000 Qi.
Where did you get yours?
I found it on EBay but Amazon has them. Also if you go to the Julia website you can search for a dealer near you
I didn’t get the free motion foot either… 😞
FYI, the standard foot that comes with the machine sews at a scant 1/4 inch and the hinged quarter inch sews at a true quarter inch. You can get feet with guides but I happen to dislike them pressing into my fabric when I'm trying to sew on flat fabric, such as diagonally across an HST. I spent hours researching scant quarter feet that did not have guides and very few machines have one, in fact I think this is the only one that does. The nice thing on both the scant and the quarter inch foot is that if you're sewing for instance a quarter of an inch to each side of a line down a square piece of fabric, you don't have to turn the fabric around to sew the other side just move your fabric to the right or left as you need. And, best of all unlike as in the case of my other machines you don't have to try and position the needle at a scant or a quarter inch and write down your measurements, you just stick the foot on and you're ready to go. I really like that feature. I tried all these things out at my sewing store today and measured the seam widths, and the site that I went to called Juki Junkies is absolutely accurate about what they say about the scant and quarter inch. You wouldn't believe the amount of time I put into my research. Even the Juki Company didn't know that they had a scant 1/4 in foot. My quilting leader on a QAL sent me a picture of hers and nobody could tell me that one actually existed and where to find it, because.. it was the standard presser foot that came with the machine! I found it annoying to have to keep my foot suspended in the air to press the pedal without putting my heel down and cutting the thread. There's an accessory you can get that locks under the heel so that you eliminate that problem. If I buy this machine I will use that. I didn't really see the advantage of the knee lever because it has only one function to lift and lower the presser foot. If you want to look at a video on how to measure the width of seams go to the Featherweight Shop site, or call Baby Lock. Baby Lock asked me for the link to the Featherweight Shop site so that they could watch the video! Your measurement must include the seam line. There is scientific reasoning behind using a scant quarter inch, that involves the folding back of the fabric when you press a seam open, and achieving the width you actually want, allowing for the fold and allowing for the seam line. It's important to note that on the 2000 there isn't a speed slider. I had some trouble controlling the speed just with the foot pedal, going from very slow to really really fast. After I practiced a few times this was easier. You just have to get used to the pedal and the pressure you need to achieve your speed. I will probably wait a while before buying this machine. I just started learning to quilt last September and unless I get really dedicated to it, I don't need a machine that shows at 1500 or sew a king size quilt. One additional thought, I've come across a lot of sewing feet that claim to be a quarter of an inch and actually sew a 3/8" seam. Makes me wonder if any of these sewing machine manufacturers have ever tried selling.
Oops - sewing.
Thanks for all of the info!
I want one so bad been looking at them for awhile now trying to decide and I think this will be the one Thankyou for a great tutorial.
What a great review! I love my Juki TL too, and learned a few new things from you today, like taking off the entire bottom. I struggled at first with oiling mine because there were so many holes, so I labeled the correct ones with stickers. I used the GEasy ruler stickers for mine. Thank you for all you do. I love the quilt behind you, and of course it’s always fun to see Jax “helping” you!
Just bought it and it arrives tomorrow!!!!
I picked up one of these machines at a yard sale with a bunch of extra attachments.
Seems I am missing the free motion quilting attachments. But I haven't gotten around to making a quilt yet with any machine. More a tote bag and other type of bag maker.
Thank you for showing how to thread the machine and clean it out. This will be helpful for me getting to clean, oil, and thread my machine when I have time to play this week.
I've had this machine for a few months. Thank you SO much for this video. I've struggled to use the needle threader & have just been threading it by hand.
This video convinced me which machine I need to upgrade to!
You'll love it!
I love my Juki as much as you!!! Very nicely done!!!
Thanks for your tutorial, I really like the machine, it looks great, and so easy to use, think I'll have to save up for one. And straight stitch is fine, I have another machine I can use if I need zigzag, overcasting, buttonholes etc, and I mainly do quilts, so use mainly straight stitch anyway. Great that you get a walking foot with it, often you have to buy them separately, and they are NOT cheap! I use a walking foot quite a bit. Ok I'm saving up. Thanks and God bless 😊
I just purchased this machine. Your video is very helpful!! Thanks!
I bought my juki used I love it so much. Its the juki TL2010Q
Sweet review. In our aviation shop we use the Juki but slightly different model. The 180Q. This machine is a workhorse for light industrial. Better than the cheap machines.
Thank you so much for this detailed review. I am looking into the TL 2010. I have one question… Have you really done all your quilting on this machine? Even your twin and queen size? I like the large throat space. I am planning to use this to machine quilt and wanted to know what size quilts it would accommodate. I want to learn free motion quilting. I am working on teaching myself. I have watched several of your other videos. You are an amazing teacher! Thank you.
Just got this for Christmas, and i can't wait to try it out. Thank you for this video
Thank you for this great review and tutorial. I am looking at this model to purchase. I've decided this is the one for me. I am new to quilting, and my HD Singer doesn't have enough throat space to do move around. I just subscribed to your channel.
Glad I could help! Hope you like the Juki, it's one of my all-time favorite machines!
Same here. I have a Singer HD, nice machine but I need a bigger throat space. Saving up for this one, it ticks all the boxes.
I just purchased my first Juki. It’s simple and fast speed.
I’m so glad I came across your video about this machine. I have been doing some research on it as I’m considering buying it!! Thanks for the video! I love your channel!
Great review . You set the standard on how a review of a sewing machine should be done. Thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you Erica. This was very helpful. Love your videos!!
I just bought this model! (Well my husband for my birthday:) 😃)
I want to start FMQ because of your teaching videos ;) 🤗💙💙
Thank you I just bought this machine and waiting delivery
Hope you enjoy it!
So, I bought a Juki 2 days ago…. Should be delivered by tomorrow. My friend absolutely loves her TL 2000qi.
Oh how exciting!! I hope you enjoy it! P.S. Don't forget to oil it! A friend of mine got one and didn't oil it and it seized up on her. :)
Excellent video. I'm really considering this machine as my dedicated quilter to pair with my recently purchased tabletop frame. I always like to watch how to videos and reviews before purchasing machines. This was very informative and now I feel more confident when I go to speak with a dealer. Thank you so much!
Excellent review. Clear, concise, and succinct. Thanks.
I'm in need of a new machine. This model looks like it would fit my own needs. Thanks for the tutorial about the works of this machine. Be well.
Glad to help
@@erica_arndt I've purchased this machine. I have heard very good reviews of many of Juki's machines. Again thank you for your video. Be well!!
Thank you, Erica, for your very helpful video, photographed so expertly!
You are my lifesaver today!!! I purchased this same machine today so I could take it with me on our travels…I spent an hour trying to read the instructions on how to thread it…to no avail. Thank you so much for the clear demo. Watched it once and got it right the first time! So thank you thank you thank you. Now to make sure I have the tension dialed in. I was surprised how heavy this unit is. But size wise, I can store it easily. I love stopping in at all the fabric stores on the way down to Moab and see what they have…thanks again Miss Erica! I’m off and running. Wahoo. 🤗🤗
Yay! Hope you love it!
I've been eyeing up this machine, have had it in my Amazon wish list for a while. Thank you for this fantastic review! 💛💛
Amazon has a payment plan for this...just ordered it😁
Girl! Thank you. I have a Brother that has tons of fancy stitches but no automatic thread cutter and a smallish throat area. I was wondering if Juki had a basic quilting type machine. You answered my question!
I only want this machine because years ago I came across your quilt video showing how to bind a quilt and you were awesome and it was very easy to follow you. Now I just purchased the cutie frame and I need a larger throat machine...and I was looking at this machine and your video popped up and I turned my head, but heard your voice and I said that voice sounds familiar and I looked up and it was YOU!! LOL! I'm sorry I'm long winded, NOW I KNOW I WILL PURCHASE THIS SEWING MACHINE, LOL...I have questions, is this a high or low shank machine (2) can I use rulers for free motion, because I can't free motion to save my life (3) and if I can use rulers, do I need a ruler motion foot... Thanks Erica for an awesome video!
Thank you so much for making this video. It's very informative and helpful!
LOVE my Juki TL2000qi!
Thanks for the video. I'm thinking about getting a Juki, this video helped a lot
Love this review! I'm actually thinking of getting this exact machine! It was between this and a used bernina but I just feel drawn to this more
Thanks for this information! Answered lots of questions for me.
thank you for this video, I hadn't used my machine in a while and had forgotten how to thread it, lol.
Erica that was a great review. My husband is gonna get me one finally. Love it 🥰. Thanks
Well my husband ordered the JUKI for me today should have by the end of week. Yahhhh 😃🥰😃
This was a great review. It was exactly what I was looking for!! Thank you.
Thank you! I am considering buying this machine
I’m sold! Why is it that your videos have made me buy a spinning wheel, drum carder, and now sewing machine lol
Nice job. Thanks for the video! I have the Juki Haruka. Very similar.
Thanks so much Erica. That is the machine I have been looking at.
My husband bought this model for me back in 2018. I absolutely love it! However, it does not have stitch control. After see the TL models that DO have stitch control, I'm thinking about trading mine in.
Thank you for another great video. What needles do you use on your machine? I have heard organ needles are good, thought I would ask you since your my go to person for all things quilting and homeschool, thanks for all you do.
I like this machine, thanks for your review! I sew clothes (from silk clothes to wool coats) and do not need quilting but I like the idea of this machine. I just love straight stitch. Would you say it's worth?
I like the measuring tape
Great machine! I have the twin to it made by Brother and it looks the same. Love it!
TU. Clear and concise. 😊
I dream big! One day I may be able to afford a machine. 🌸kindness matters!🌸
I Love this review. I am a fan of all your tutorials. I have been looking at this machine for some time and I have been hesitant due to the cost. I have read many reviews and one thing that I have read a few times is that you can only use Organ Needles. Is this the case? If not what do you or others use.
Hi, my machine does best with Organ needles, that said I use Schmetz as well :)
@@erica_arndt Thank you, I just ordered my machine, I am excited.
I just purchased this model and I LOVE it! One question: do you ever oil the bobbin casing?
You're supposed to, I do it occasionally, but I feel like it can get on my thread a little, so I don't do it very often.
Thanks so much for this video! I just bought the machine and I’m so excited to use it. What are your tips for free motion quilting on this machine? I watching your video on FMQ but you were using a different machine in that one. Anything specific to know about the Juki when FMQ? Thanks!!!
A great walk through. I can’t wait to get to get up to 1500 stitches!
I bought one and it’s awesome - thanks so much!
Thank you Erica!! Perfect timing. I’m in the market for a Juki. I was thinking about the 2010 but it’s almost $400 more than the model you demoed. I wonder what the difference is??
The 2010Q right? It’s the one I have. It’s $300 more most places. The main differences are that it has speed control, a secondary tension knob to fine tune tension, and includes extra feet (or maybe just one extra foot?) I love mine. The speed control is really nice since it goes sooooo fast at top speed. For an experienced sewer who has never had speed control before and is really used to controlling it with foot pressure, I imagine it isn’t as important as I find it. 😊
The main difference is that the 2010 has speed control knob where on the 2000 I adjust the speed with my foot pedal. I didn’t think it was worth the extra $300 for speed control but others say they love having it.
@@erica_arndt I taped a popsicle stick to my foot pedal for a governor. I couldn’t control the speed when FMQing. Works for me. Oh am a friend bought me the machine. I’m so blessed 🙏
Great video! Nice and detailed. Thank you for sharing.
Hi Erica, so I purchased this machine last night. I was watching some videos last night and I believe this machine is a lower grade from the Juki 2010, which you talked about four years ago. If Im not mistaking why did you downgrade machines? I spoke with the company and they attempted to sell the 2010. I hope I made the right choice. Thanks.
Thanks Erica! That was very helpful.
I just bought my first Juki TL-2000QI. I absolutely love it! But I have never had so many issues with my top thread breaking and coming out of the thread holder. I’ve tried everything to fix this issue. Do you have any tips to keep this from happening?
I just found out when inserting the bobbin, you don’t pull out that lever. You just place the bobbin in and push it until you hear it click.
I love this! Did you buy yours from Amazon or from a dealer?
I got mine from Amazon! You can still bring them in for service at a local dealer if needed.
Just got a Juki TL and I’m looking for recommendations for threads to use for garment sewing and also for some heavier bag making projects with denim and upholstery fabric. Suggestions? I would like to use large cones to save $$
Excellent review! Thanks
Thanks so much for the great review!
Thanks for a nice review. I use mine for clothing, curtains and quilting. Please note that the illustrated threading is wrong, since you missed the balance spring and went three times through the large thread guide, where it should only be two. So, everybody: for threading - refer to the very well illustrated manual.
Hi, definitely refer to your own machine manual, but I double checked and how I threaded the machine in the video EXACTLY matches what my manual says as well.
Can you link your oil, please? The bottle of oil that came with my Juki Haruka has a large spout and I’d much prefer the thin needle type spout like on you oil container. Thank you!
Also, please update us on your sew along. I’m anxious to see what you have planned!
Sure, I like this one: amzn.to/3eat1Xm
I can't wait until I can afford to have a decent machine to quilt with
Erica do you use the Aurifil 50 wt thread to piece and free motion quilt?
what size needle do you use when piecing? I just got this machine two days ago btw because of your videos 💕 and I love it
I usually use a 90/14 Schmetz Chrome for piecing
Juki 8100 Top Top
Nice Price in Portugal
For Denim Jacket etc.
This is the machine I want. But I'm not sure why you said it's not good for garment sewing because of the speed? That's exactly why i want it because of the speed when i batch sew. lol!
Hi, I'm sorry for any confusion, I didn't say it wasn't good for garment sewing because of the speed, I don't recommend it for garment sewing because it is a straight-stitch only machine. If you will be doing garment sewing you will probably want to look for a machine with a zig-zag stitch as well as you will be using that often :)
Thank you so much for the video. I have learned so much. I didn’t know there is another place to clean it at the bottom. I have a Juki TL but different model. I love it. I am very allergic to dust. I have been thinking buying a mini vacuum, would you recommend it?
I've thought about using a mini vacuum, I think that would be handy! Just make sure you don't vacuum up any parts. I once tried that on my Juki and accidentally vacuumed up one of the face plate screws! I had to order a new one through a local sewing shop which took almost two weeks. So in desperation, I ended up taking the vacuum bag apart to find it. After about an hour of going through the bag contents, I finally found the screw, it was literally embedded into the bag lining! So needless to say, I won't do that again LOL!
@@erica_arndt Keeping it real, confessions of an experienced sewist
It's a "presser foot", not "pressure foot". We adjust the presser foot pressure. Confusing, I know. Anyway, it's a good video. I just bought mine... I think I was threading it wrong too. Still having issues with tension but I'm going to experiment with some different threads and needles.
Hey, thanks for the video! You mentioned it was an industrial strength machine....could this machine be used for bag making as well?! Thanks!
I use it frequently to make bags! Works like a dream!
Oh yes, this is what I sew all of my bags on!
Great video. What's the thickest amount of denim or canvas anyone has gone through with this machine? I need to sew through five layers of 10oz canvas. I am sure this will be fine but just wanted some feedback. Thanks in advance for any help.
Thanks for the thorough review! Could you share information about your large cutting mat? I can’t seem to find anything larger than 24x36.
I was on that a-named site last night. Clicked on the sewing recommendations. There were two large mats: 40 x 60 ($180) and 40 x 80 ($200).
Hi Sure, it's from bigmatrotarycuttingsurface.com/index.html
Just got a larger mat but I eye up all the even bigger ones and pink ones and purple ones lol
