Such a beautiful language. I've always been fascinated by Old Norse as a native English speaker. There aren't enough videos out there of just someone reading a passage in this language. thank you for this!

Speechless my brother. By the fire watching the flames play out to this reading. A ton of respect

This is beautiful, I close my eyes and am transported to another time and place where I can share time with my ancestors. Thank you. ❤

When I first listened to this last night, I watched the tree tops blowing in the wind from my house on the hill and felt blissfully small and at peace. The second time I listened to it going to bed and found myself drawn to the sounds that made the words on the screen. Tonight, I meditate with it and the ancestral blood of the kindred Northmen within and the profound way you have stirred memory and legacy. Thank you for sharing this.

Thank you so much, Bethany. It made my day to read this. Yours is exactly the reaction I wanted when I recorded this.

I really appreciate the words on the screen as I tend to have trouble distinguishing subtle sounds.

Thank you, Christina. Yeah, I try to make the readings as clear as possible with concurrent original text/English. I find that it helps to follow along.

Thank you so much! I've thought about it, I would need to practice it. Not much of a singer, but maybe I can work on it.

I've learned in old norse reconstructed that an a with an accent makes an o sound like someone in Boston who says koaffee. Maybe it's a different reconstruction paradigm?

Very strange to hear the song of the Voelva in a man’s voice?😂 The whole point of the Voluspá is that the female oracle tells the hidden truths to a man-god (Oden). The woman has knowledge that the man wants. (Ref. Kress, H. “Völvans sång” in Nordisk kvinnolitteraturhistoria, 1993. Ed. Møller Jensen, E.)

Can't listen to this translation unfortunately, it would have been spoken with tempo and pitch, rolling words... Not like a Balrog.

@@AncientLiteratureDude I mean no offence I just like my mythology...
      beautifully bardic, Nordic,
      Homeric-hypnotic.
      haunting andmystical
      colourful-wonderful,
      accurate-historical!
And no, I've never heard of Balrog library night. Can i come?
