While I don’t play SMN at all really, something I always felt was absolutely integral to summons in all other FFs was how absolutely awe-inspiring summons always were. Whether it was the powers of magic granted by Espers or the 20 minute animations of Knights of the Round or Anima’s overdrive, they are such an important hallmark to me. That why I *love* to set all summons to max size outside of Extreme and Savage content, as they become a banner of sorts that I rally under.
SMN main here. I'm absolutely with you. If I'm not doing a savage or some sort of try-harder content, the summons are always large. It makes the job much, much cooler to play.
I never owned a consoled but in the boarding school I was for 4 years others played FFVIII and while I found the combat atrocious and the chibi overworld stuff weird what always impressed me was the guardian forces. When Diablos comes and just pulls a house-sized glob of darkness and throws it at your enemies. Perfection. So you can guess my first class was Summoner/Scholar and how disappointed I was over all these years with the class. Now with Endwalker I finally have the Summoner I always wanted and you can be damn sure my summons are beeeeeeeeeeg.
Daaaamn, there is so many settings in this game and I did not get through all of them and video barerly started, my game instantly becomes better. What I can say except thanks and subbed. Video is in fact so good I will save it in case my friend will finally decide to play the game. Ahem if I may add something, every Summoner knows that the bigger your summons are, the bigger the damage they deal.
It's really good! The only downside to it is when your inspecting someone and you forget you can't click off them... now all the FemRa I inspect will know I'm looking at them >_>
Thanks for the vid, can't wait to see what you come up with for the UI. Adapted mine after seeing Zepla's video that is around a year old now - has a bunch of elements around the center at 160 and 200% size. It did help me a lot and I got used to it, however it wouldn't surprise me if there was a setup with better placement and sizes.
I don't have too many macro tricks or anything like that, my UI is very simple but very clean, everything is pretty easy to access with not too much mess or unnecessary clutter, I do hope I can teach you something though!
Can also, set to legacy then switch keybind of left / right strafe to A and D if you like the back pedal, pressing backward + left / right allows you to do that
See, THIS is why I said in my video that I feel like I learn new things all the time -- there were still a few things in here that I didn't know despite playing for 2 dumb years xD
You know, with how much I've watched your guides seeing your cute au'ra girl doing that gesture while you say "hello friends and welcome" has been burned into my mind lol. Keep up the good work, you've been informing this sprout a lot about this game
The cone targeting thing is super helpful to me, even though I’m a PC player. I’m left-handed and the mobility in my right hand isn’t great, so I have a lot of trouble reacting with my mouse to things - one reason I’m a terrible healer, haha. When I’m tanking in dungeons it’s super annoying when I’m tabbing through enemies and it tries to tab to one that’s way too far away, but I’m often also not quick enough with the mouse to make up for it. Most of my custom settings have to do with helping me to use the mouse as little as possible! I think I’m in the minority of left-handed people that have this problem, but this was a life saver :,^). Sometimes I think I’d be a WAY better player if I was right-handed, games just aren’t really set up for me and it slows me down a lot. Just kind of rambling now. I love your videos, they are super helpful!!
That does sound like a good work around to being left handed and I'm glad there are accessibility options for you! I do wish there were more but final fantasy definitely does a good job at being customisable for stuff like that. Also thank you for the kind words :)
Did you know that you can click on the players names in the top left to target them? Or use F1-F4 in light parties to select players too, I assume it extends up to F8 in full ones.
#6 is something I've actually been thinking about lately. Ever since I got an MMO mouse I click off my target more often since I'm hitting other buttons on the mouse so much. It was bad enough that it almost negated any benefit I got from the new mouse. Now I won't be afraid of missing GCDs in raids just because I stopped targeting. Thanks!
I realized watching this it's been happening to me as I've started getting used to positioning myself with M1+M2 when WASD would just be too inefficient.
Ya know what,I loved summoner on ffxi and wanted to pick it up on ffxiv but the Damn size of them put me off,Now I know I can have big boys I might give it a try 😆 thank you
The nice thing about petsize it's that it is only for your end. That way everybody can set it to whatever they prefer and nobody can complain. The only ones that will not find this great are the ones that simply don't understand it's THEIR OWN responsibility to adjust the sizes if they are not happy with them.
the pet thing is definately the most helpful ive gone through more than 1 alliance raid where there were 8+ large size bahamets going off at once and i love you SMNs but jesus christ
Battle effects... I always had it on and never really minded... that was until I did the Nier raids in Shadowbringers: When 24 people throw out their sparklies at the same time, you sure as heck get blinded XD And it aint funny... Also, can recomment the legacy movement settings. Its requires some getting used to but its worth it and you wont want to return - ever.
Yeah the battle effects being on full for party members can be really jarring in Alliance raids, but also I found it difficult back in the days of A3S when a black mage used their fire spells and completely covered the hands in effects and you couldn't see what mechanic the hand was doing at that time, that's when I needed to make the change xD
Loved Endwalker's first few weeks when I had to teach most of my group how to reduce summon size during one of the ex trials because they kept getting a screen full of Titan ass lol. That said, still wish they'd do something about Titan's attack, it's not as bad as RDM LB3 but it's still pretty bad.
I changed summons to small cause they were in my way whenever I was in a party with a summoner, then I played summoner and wanted them big cause, it's cool! Then I... forgot to change back, have yet to remember taking care of it, only ever remember mid-battle whenever I end up seeing nothing but the summon's back. It's definitely confused me a number of times when fighting Ultima as well...
you could probably just make a macro so whenever you switch to summoner it puts the pets at large but then puts them at small when you switch to a different job
Funny. I don't use backpaddling at all, I strafe to the sides. Heck, I don't even have a button for backpaddling, just use WER to move :D For this reason Legacy Movement would actualy hinder me. x)
I don't use mods as they are against ToS and that's a surefire way to get blacklisted by SE as a content creator, but I do use a wonderful program known as Gshade, which is simply a program that changes the filters of the game, making it a lot more pretty, this is also 100% allowed
LARGE pet size would be great for my summoner when i do Solo combat. In dungeons i would indeed go for small. As a newer player i wouldn't like a big Titan in a small dungeon hallway LOL
Hi there, great video. How do I change my camera view so it seems further away. All the UA-cam videos there characters seem small on the screen, but mine seems big. Please help?
I do kind of wish there was some kind of color coding for ground effects. For example, how am I supposed to know which of the Asylums is my group's in a 24 man when all 3 groups have white mages and they're all kinda spread? I could set non-party effects to off but then I can't see things like Doton for other groups which is still helpful even if it's not my group. Not to mention newer players having to learn what ground AoEs are bad vs what are from your own party (was even worse back in ARR when Bard had that fire AoE).
I was meant to make a joke about this, but I didn't in this take... missed opportunity, but I think it's always an important point to be made in every QoL video
as a WHM i am trying to understand the needs or - physical damage and magical damage in protection i have high physical damage although it doesn't seem so but often i am hit with spells from the Boss from across the screen - do i need more magical protection and less physical????
is there any way to see every single second in countdown timer? I'm a SAM main and I use my meikyo 9 seconds on the countdown during raids but the countdown doesn't exactly tells me that it's 9 second so sometimes I might use it too early and miss my yukikaze. I've seen someone on youtube having their countdown show every single seconds and I just wanna have it aswell
I believe there is a plugin In XIVLauncher for this but I personally don't use any game modifications so I'm not sure how to go about it. I would just Meikyo when it hits 8 seconds instead, in my experience it's hard to drift Meikyo anyways, but just double check on a dummy if this works out for you
@@yestle7868 A simple solution could be asking the tank to go with a pull macro that also simulates the count down in party chat. Or just create one yourself and use it for the tank. That way you can have it show exactly 9 seconds.
Pro tip: putting appropriate materia in your gear actually makes you do more damage. Like 80% of people I play with don’t have materia in there gear. Level 90 full endgame gear, no materia…..seen that before multiple times. Am I missing something? Also Im not talking about leveling up, doesn’t make sense if you are just gonna swap out the gear.
I personally feel uncomfortable and naked if I don't wear a fully melded gear set at level 90. But I think lots of players actually just don't care because they don't really do "serious" content. The amount of people doing savage raids is surprisingly low in comparison to the total playerbase.
Pro tip: You and your party get more dps if you all have summons set to large. :)
Found the summoner main
Final fantasy 9 agrees with you
Never notice a Summoner until my whole screen is hidden by a giant titan tush.
@@Varifyr Just a warning, if you notice a Summoner they will never leave you alone after that.
came to say this, go large or go home!

Oh yeah, I remember the days where you had to face the target to hit your autos, glad those days are behind us xD

how about: boss-size all small. so funny.
TY for the pet size one cant tell you how annoying the SMN pets are in a raid when they take up your whole screen , even when scrolled out lol
