No one is taking away or forgetting about anything or anyone. All abuse is bad. The people featured are female, however the reporter mentioned this was an issue at multiple detention centers in the video. These girls are being brave, sharing their stories, and fighting for justice. This report is just showing some brave individuals who are speaking up on behalf of the 2500 people impacted by abuse.

It's bad when anyone protects an abuser but it's especially troubling to my soul when other women defend abusive men

“Who Guards the Guards”? They guard themselves….that’s part of the problem. Internal investigations/qualified immunity need to both be done away with.

These are human trafficking organizations, they aren't failing they're doing exactly what they are made to do.
I worked at 2 of the juvenile halls approx. 15 yrs ago and it was terribly corrupt. Probation officers would steal the kids shoes and resale them, would choke them, beat them, and sexually assault them. It's been an open secret that these crimes have been going on and no one in the upper levels of management at the county level would address it. I am not hopeful that things will change but I am glad these brave women get to sue for what was allowed to happen to them.

@@catmejia6109 That's how cash for kids system staff are. They end up quitting and getting PTSD after being payed to help abuse kids. These systems hire bitter old ppl and college kids who just want a paycheck.

As a former adult probation officer these stories do not surprise me one bit. Sorry for the children who were victims of this corrupt system.
Damn shame. These victims deserve justice. Adults know damn well you don't harm children, especially when you are employed to ensure their safety and well-being at all times.

They were going to get punished for defending reason not helped. Ppl's abusive relatives put them in these systems and other times they don't have parents cause they were kidnapped by cps.
It’s common sense that these men and even women would abuse their power against these children. Government should set laws to protect kids.

In the "game" of abuse by people in authority, it's often open secrets where everyone knows, stays silent, and punishes whistleblowers.
If you're poor, you have no shot at fighting fighting back. Your only hope, is to find someone of immense integrity but those people don't make it to the top to enact change.

This is old stuff that's been going on for forever. These trauma based mind control systems have been here and are legal, but we the ppl have done nothing but pay taxes to keep them going. Omg… this is so heartbreaking. My heart hurts for these women. My heart hurts for the young kids they were. These people/ predators/ evil ass people look and seek jobs like this so they can do these crimes and not get caught.

The update at the end is ridiculous. I hope at the very least they created measures to protect the children. Sad thing is that there is probably someone in the system right now going through this exact issue. I hope not, but if something is never addressed it's bound to be repeated.

Where do you find predators and abusers? Anywhere there is prey. Wherever the vulnerable with no voice and autonomy. All persons charged with caring for the most vulnerable are abusers. Every single one. Whether through direct abuse or complicity, all are monsters. The system only hires abusers because they attract their own kind; anyone who enjoys abusing or who won’t ever speak up. Almost every single adult in this environment is a monster!

@6:00 mins did this interviewer ACTUALLY ask her "Was this rape"? She was 13! How do you even ask that to someone who was a child victim of rape / sex trafficking. She was literally paid after being raped repeatedly. Just because he paid her doesn't mean it wasn't rape. LA should be tried & indicted by the International Tribunal. Our tax dollars are paying for sex abusers who are on LEAVE? Thousands of victims in LA alone? Smh! Boys don't get pregnant, young ladies have a different mindset and different issues than young men, I know I raised a daughter and had to have her put somewhere, and she was in a girl's place and having sex with young ladies..

They should find the perpetrators, and hold them all accountable even if they are not working for the office anymore. The retired men have likely done this many times. The woman who defended him, should also be held accountable for assisting him and obstructing justice.

How is the troubled teen in the California system.. listen to a group home in San Bernardino where I was physically abused by the night staff.
This system is just "wrong," all they're trying to do is hold onto their jobs and the "power" it wields! 😢 These grown folk will one day give an answer for "every thing" they have ever done. Why doesn't the Probation Oversight Commission, the BSCC and the Board of Supervisors shut the juvenile halls?
The question why wasn't it reported and taken on the outside level to get them investigated years ago or help to direct these girls ? There were attorneys who would have jumped on this and advocate groups ACLU
Thankfully there has been significant reform within the juvenile justice system in the last 10 years. Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative (JDAI) through the Annie E Casey Foundation is practiced nationwide. Indiana is the first state to have the most counties doing this initiative
If those who control these places are willing to allow this to go on. What are those who control these people guilty of doing themselves???? Corruption is NOT just at the lower levels.

Every person on the planet should have someone to answer to. They dont understand how sick adults these days are. I was in a military bootcamp ran by the ARMY and it changed my life forever. They always protected us and taught me what no one else could. I pray that kids get more of that instead of being hurt. I was in foster care and went through so many horrible things. I was grateful Youth Challenge saved me. The military needs to take these kids and turn them into something and stop letting regular people do it. Solatary confinement was all I ever knew as a kid. So much so that i enjoy being alone.
Young people do not need to be lacked up in cages.
They need good guidance and people to help to care. for them so they do not need to think about stealing out of desperation.
These facilities and these punishment rules are made by people who make fat paychecks while the underage children don't have a way to make money like they do.
They do not need punishment, they need help.

Help tell these kids to avoid Assumption uni, it is not abusing, it is dead accidents. Every corner of campus is tape recorder, stealing and uploading for years, conversation from school office. Violation of privacy led to many time your home, robber and thief. Abac never refused the violation.

This is behavior of old school probation officers.. has almost nothing to do with present probation officers. Yes there will be some bad seeds in the present, but I’m sure it’s nothing like how it was back then. The 80s is far from 2024.

I doubt it's stopped. In GA an investigation has been opened about missing kids that are suppossed to be under state care. Some of these kids are sex trafficked. A teacher in TX was just arrested for sex trafficking. ANYWHERE there are vulnerable and troubled kids losers will prey on them. Especially when there is no or limited oversight. It is STILL a HUGE problem sadly.
Did you not hear her say there was a probation officer who was fired the same day the interview with them was supposed to take place for having sex with one of the minor inmates. It really is this mentality that allows this to continue
