Thank you, I needed this information today. My Auxilliary battery in my Lexus 200cth was so dead I couldn't open the hatch. Your hack worked like a charm.
So happy to hear you found this video helpful!
so i have had this car for 10 years and have been frustrated by not knowing how to to do this several times. crazy that there is no latch release in the car but THANK YOU SO MUCH for teaching me
So glad you found this video helpful!
And when you have a totally full back trunk and your car is in a tight garage it becomes HELL to try to get to that. hey lexus why did you forget the key slot like on a side door and every other trunk made? The UK version of the car apparently has one! Thank you again for the reminder of how- so much better than the manual!
2 months later 😢, but great videos 🔧👏
Thank you!
Thank you!!!!❤
Great video every time this happens I forget how to do this. Just seems like a terrible spot to place it
😂😂 at least you have UA-cam (or your owners manual) for every 3-5 years when your battery dies
Thanks for this, I just followed along and have some additional warnings: the backseats need to be folded down to crawl into the trunk, and this may not be possible on the drivers side of the front seat is back too far and can only move with electricity.
That’s definitely a good tip! Thank you!
Hello, for a cup of coffee, could you tell me how I could remove the lip with trim above the rear hatch. I’m in the process of replacing the rear glass for my mom Ct200h 2011. Thank you.
This is not my vehicle it’s a customer car so I’m unsure which piece you’re talking about. Usually in order to take anything off the back hatch you have to remove the inner trim pieces to access the bolts holding those things on. I hope that’s helpful!
Thank You so much much much
I have the same issue my car is not starting, and the trunk wont open
So i am going to buy a battery tomorrow and replace it.
Thank You million times
I hope it does well for you!
You can't get to that if you have the back installed that's covering your spare tire and battery you can't get to that release so no help
Dead battery today. Just saw your video. You did not say which side of the trunk the latch is located. I’m assuming it’s on the left side (driver side) of the trunk?
It’s pretty much in the middle
@@GirlieGarage Yes, I found the lever. Either way, the battery can be replace with or without the hatch open. However, it’s much easier to do it with the hatch open. Thanks for the video!
Yay!
Thank you so much for this. It’s such a terrible design flaw. Why on earth would they put the battery in a place that locks when it dies?
ROFL! 100% agree!!
Hi.. saw your video. Haven’t tried out. Do you think that I can reach the dead battery by accessing from the backseat without need to open the trunk? I am from Asia and my ct200h trunk won’t open from outside 😢. And now I m away and I m gonna ask my friend to help out with this…
You should open the trunk, it would be difficult to access without opening the trunk
My Volvo XC90 I was able to remove the battery from the inside cargo without opening the trunk. With the CT200h, it’s not possible.
UPDATE. I just finished installing the good battery. YES, you can replace the dead battery if you can not manually open the hatch lever. Just have 10mm socket ready . Good luck!
How do I get the seats down?
There is usually a release lever or button on the seat near the top of the seat near the door. If you cannot find it, I suggest consulting your owners manual
I’m guessing mechanics yoga is mandatory.
HAHA! Sometimes yes!!
Why would they install a (manual release lever) for the trunk -> in a difficult to access area? Dumb car manufacturers
