Always happy to see one of these uploads. Once I both have a grasp of the new mechanics, probably largely from watching this, and this gets released on main (so long as there aren't any really serious bugs that break playability) it's finally gonna be time for me to start another playthrough, which I haven't done in a while. This really seems like a definitive moment.
There are many ways to do it, none of them require the height overlay, it can give you a general idea of the slope of the land, but not the actual height, so if you ever make longer runs, this won't help you much.
I'm greatly anticipating to see how you build this without going in the red, seemed like just your underground heat pipes cost almost 100.000 rubles.. and with industries and the city all needing steel for construction, all the research you need before you can locate mineral deposits. I'm at the edge of my seat waiting for the next episode to see how you plan on pulling it off!
0:33 I've heard somewhere that this has technical reasons - rain is actually implemented as "rain day" vs. "dry day", so it needs a night-to-day cycle to trigger.' EDIT: Uh, I really like the new buildings, especially the civic ones. I think my next playthrough will be a non-modded one, as well.
I'm stillhyped for the next patch...and your next episode. And for my own city to survive the garbage update. I have build the biggest city so far for me (20k citizens right now) and I want to keep it...with trash. I hope I can implement it. So, good thing you teach me about garbage. ❤ Keep on the good work.
Hi, BB, got a "small list" if you don´t mind ;) 1) You actually build the 15MW power lines to the border if I saw correctly. Biggest ones are 18MW. 2) Max power consumption per civi building is hardly what it takes to run them. A city part with shops and stuff is usually easily around 0,4-0,8 MW consumtion. ONE substation is enough, no need to go with three. Take a look at your cities in last seasons and how many people and buildings are you able to feed with one substation and what is their standard usage (statistics are great for that). 3) Using F2 mode to show contour lines when drawing sewage pipes helps greatly to find lower-hanging spots, great for accompanying measurement tool. 4) I like that you are building paths and road sequentionaly, that is a great habit. Thanks for promoting them 5) You probably know that, but you can use a bus station as a walking distance extension - basically as long as everyone can reach the big station and can reach from that station everything else (shops, culture, sports, hospital, university, ...), there is no need for ALL those buildings being in DIRECT reach from the appartment building. As long as you allow passengers/students to wait on it, they simply go there, stay for an hour and reach their desired destination (except for prayer guys, they just teleport home). Don´t be afraid to spread the city a bit more, then :) 6) I love using a warehouse next to shopping center. BTW my Okean handled easily a 5000-ish city, though they had a harder time when harsch winter froze half the buildings for a while and productivity dropped drastically, but they recovered pretty fast from it. 7) Food is not rotting, nor chemicals or clothing, am I right? So you could have said them to start supplying the warehouse (as meat truck is still in depot). Or did something change? 8) I am really looking for the trash industry you are going to build. That might be awesome. So cheers for you, have fun and thanks for presenting this wonderful game again to us poor fellas without patreon accounts! :)
Bigger power line available is 15...the 18 needs research... just didn't specifically say that:) Substations....I've found once they get into a 150% range, it gets hairy, but tbh, I've never looked into that too much, but in the end, on power I rather go way too big than just too small. Rotting... correct, stuff in the warehouse is not rotting, only the cold storage is....I just didn't want to turn on part of it, because I will forget to turn on the other thing...so just wanted to do them both at once.
With Sewage to get around slopes you can use the waste pumps that will allow to but pipes in more conventional place. They can allow for 5, 10 or 15m height difference. I try to run my pipes along roadways where possible just for realism sake but doesn't always work. ;)
I actually prefer small mall because it can be tied to two warehouses (unless that has changed). it is a little bit larger in a cluster with meat and dry storage - but is much easier to supply.
The small shopping center has much smaller internal storage, and therefore pretty much requires connected storages...the large shopping center has much bigger internal storages and can work without needing extra external storages...so not sure I agree with you on that :)
@@bballjo with external storage you are nearly immune to hiccups in supply chain. Of course you can avoid them with proper planning and large warehouses in the city but I just prefer to play safe. Constant supply is essential to sustain high happiness and high loyalty.
Question: You worry about not spending too much Roebles - I get that. Then you put down a sewage pipe that is not costing much in Roebles, but it will use 158 Gravel and 60 Prefabs - that will take up some time to gather and transport. One service station with a sewage truck will dispose of all your sewage (untill over 1500+ citizens) for about 400 Roebles per year. Same goes for water. Another question - you pop your flats in the middle of somewhere - not connected by roads - and then all of a sudden it appears as if groundworks is done on the brick flats. How is this possible?
Oh wait, I can see you use Brick flats which do not need any groundworks, hahahahaha Mods.... Please put it in the title of your video - that you are using mods. Or are they part of the update? What is the fun or challenge of playing Realistic mode, if you skip groundwork on all your flats??
I'm not planning on using any mods in this playthrough, everything is vanilla...why those buildings didn't need groundwork? Bug, and I think it was addressed now.
Thanks for the video. Is there a source with the ratio of buildings to citizens? E.g., you mention small store is 2500 people, Okean is 4000, large store is 7000, large water treatment can serve upto 13000 etc
Well...I am the source:/ all of those numbers also assume 100% productivity, which can fluctuate between 30-120%. Hot tip: remember 1 ratio for any of the buildings, most other buildings will follow the same ratio, so for the large store: 7500/45 = x/1 worker...you can approximate the other stores with the same building...same is true for other building types.
