A great set of 4 videos, which have made my day... I was looking for a way to create a 12 Bar Blues using inversions for the chord progression, a drum kit and then using the result for practicing some Blues improvisations, so these four videos were exactly what I was looking for. Great instructor!!
I NEED A CHANNEL THAT ACTUALLY SHOWS ME IN DETAIL WHERE YOU GO TO DO ALL THESE THINGS. I'VE SPENT HOURS JUST CLICKING ON DIFFERENT MENU ITEMS NOT KNOWING WHAT THEY DO AND WHY.
These 4 videos helped me sooo much. I bought a 2i2 and have ableton 9 lite. I taught myself what i kno and now i realize why it seems so damn difficult. Thanks alot for showing me how to do the basics the right way. I have a question about volume tho... is it better to adjust volumes to the point were they are just under clipping or what? I have no clue but thats what ive been doing and i have to turn down volume on certain parts quite a bit. I also have an active pickup bass and if its on intrument it clips even all the way down so i have to put it on the line setting any advice would be much appreciated thanks again!
Krookiemonster you cam use the gain slider in the clip view to get the waveform so it's pretty much filling up the space, but so no parts of the waveform go outside the box, so it's as loud as possible. Then you use the volume sliders on each track to adjust the volume for each track relative to the others. You definitely don't want anything clipping, in fact you don't need the meters on each track to go above -3dB for rock mixing. But mixing is a pretty complex topic, there are some great videos out there. One rule of thumb, if something is too quiet, try bringing down the volume on other parts rather than boosting the part you want to hear.
active pickups use line-level inputs - set the slider from instrument to line and you should be fine. I don't know which gen 2i2 you've got, but the 1st had a TON of trouble with clipping so that was the focal point for 2nd gen - if you've got light up rings around each gain knob you have 2nd gen and this is an easy fix - set to line level
I think it's because he used cmd+e on that section he highlighted just before, so what he does next to the clip is only applying to that specific "slice." So when he loops a single chord it just repeats for that measure he highlighted.
can you explain what a compressor really is ? I seem to be confused.. and what does threshold do (bcz im assuming that function of the compressor does exactly what you want it to do at 4:00) thanks in advance
can't say I like the guitar track, but as a demonstration of the full process, this tutorial is really great!
Thanks very much for creating and sharing these videos. They are the best I have yet seen on this subject.
What a nice and relaxed way he shows us from clip and arrangements ! Thanks a lot 👍

same here 2i2 focusrite and ableton live light but was frustrated! I an going to dig these four
and same for me.. got 2i2 focusrite.. opened Abletone and didn't get anything there :) it's so much different. These videos help a lot :)
How does that little guitar loop work? How does it only loop like 3 times and keep moving? Why doesn't it keep looping? Thanks for the videos.

Ross is correct; by slicing that section of the guitar into a new bit, the loop only applies to that segment
It's good to know how to use this
Thank you very much for this!)
4:00 why didn't you just use a compressor?
